Chapter 272: Chapter 132 So Petty Theft Does Not End Well
Chen Ze yawned. How to handle being overly tired? Normally, Chen Ze would choose to sleep, but since it was still early today, and considering Chen Ze planned to make watermelon juice, he persevered and stayed in the kitchen.
Making watermelon juice, as Chen Ze saw it, was something basically anyone with hands could accomplish, at most also requiring a juicer. True, that was what he said, but making it well still required a bit of serious effort.
Chen Ze scooped out the flesh and then used a toothpick to pick out the watermelon seeds. Even though modern juicers could filter out impurities, it was clear Chen Ze preferred not to rely on this feature.
After all, no matter how you filter out impurities, if the watermelon seeds get crushed and mixed in during blending, their taste would also seep into the juice, which could be counterproductive.
After removing the seeds, Chen Ze put the remaining flesh into the juicer and flicked the switch.
Resting his chin on his hand, Chen Ze watched the juicer. He suddenly remembered something from when he was little and visited his grandfather, where he had a very unique pickled garlic.
Unlike black garlic, the garlic pickled by his grandfather was more unique. Chen Ze was a bit fuzzy on the details, but he remembered it seemed to be sweet garlic.
"Sweet garlic... Although it feels a bit strange, I remember that I definitely have eaten it before, but I can’t recall the exact taste," Chen Ze shook his head, then grabbed a cup and began to fill it with the freshly juiced watermelon.
A half of a watermelon contributed two cups of juice to Chen Ze, who didn’t hurry to drink it, but rather placed it in the fridge.
In the scorching heat of summer, what could be more comforting than a cold, refreshing sip of fruit juice?
"Time to sleep, I’m so tired I could vomit..." Chen Ze stretched and then went upstairs to wash up and sleep.
That night, while Chen Ze was deep in sleep, two unwelcome guests approached the entrance of his restaurant.
"Are you sure it’s this restaurant?" Two men wearing masks and knitted hats squatted under a tree not far away, whispering to each other.
"I’m certain. I was here to work delivering takeout today. Man, this owner must have had around a hundred thousand in cash at least today," the young man who had delivered for Chen Ze during the day nodded under the moonlight, his eyes filled with greed.
"That’s good to hear. Once we pull this off, we’ll split it fifty-fifty, and I can go have some fun at Heaven on Earth with a few chicks," the other, with a fierce look on his face, smirked, then pulled his tools of the trade from his pocket.
"Are you sure it’s okay? You know this is a busy area." The young man frowned. A busy area meant a lot of prying eyes, and even though they had chosen 3 a.m. for their break-in, there wasn’t much time for lock-picking.
"Don’t worry, that lock you showed me? I can pick it easily." The middle-aged man was confident, then casually walked over, fiddled with his tools for a moment, but the door didn’t react at all.
"Is it gonna work or not?" The young man stood behind, constantly scanning the surroundings, fearful of someone appearing.
"No problem, just a slip-up," the middle-aged man, his pride slightly wounded, got more serious and resumed his attempt to pick the lock.
But the more he tried, the more the middle-aged man felt something was off. This simple conventional lock should have taken, at most, fifteen seconds to pick with his experience, but no matter what he tried, he simply couldn’t find the keyhole inside.
"Hurry up, there’s a car coming!" The young man grew more anxious.
"Damn it, I don’t believe this!" The middle-aged man fiddled forcefully a few more times, then with a strong push, the door opened.
"Go, go, go!" The young man quickly shoved the middle-aged man inside, clearly seeing an intimidating car approaching from the opposite street.
If they were spotted, not only would they lose the hundred thousand in cash, but they would probably also spend some time behind bars.
"Keep it down," the middle-aged man raised a finger to his lips and cautiously surveyed the surroundings, then let out a sigh of relief.
"Great, no surveillance." With caution, the middle-aged man put on a pair of gloves.
"The manager should be upstairs," the young man said, pointing at the ceiling, having noticed earlier that the house had two floors.
"Search, grab it and go, if the manager wakes up..." the middle-aged man gripped the dagger in his hand tightly.
"Yeah." The young man was nervous but still followed the middle-aged man into the center of the restaurant.
The restaurant was quiet at night and pitch-black. To avoid being discovered by people outside, they didn’t turn on the lights but instead took out flashlights.
"Did you see where he put the money?" the middle-aged man asked in a low voice. freewebnoveℓ.com
"Should be in the cupboard in the kitchen..." the young man nodded. He had seen Chen Ze put it in the cupboard when he had given him the cash earlier.
"That’s good, I don’t want to make a big scene," the middle-aged man sighed in relief, fearing that waking the manager would complicate things.
The two thieves quietly slipped into the kitchen and carefully searched through the cupboards.
"I!...mmph..." Just as the young man was about to shout, the middle-aged man covered his mouth.
"You want to die? Don’t drag me down!" the middle-aged man glared at him angrily.
He then noticed the look in his accomplice’s eyes, a look of ecstatic joy.
The middle-aged man then lowered his head and shone the flashlight, discovering a large pile of cash, several gemstones, and even Gold Coins.
Endless wealth beckoned to them, and the middle-aged man immediately understood why his partner was so excited.
If it were him, he’d probably be jumping for joy too. Now, instead of just finding girls, the middle-aged man could entertain ten at once.
"We’re rich now... once we get out, we’ll buy plane tickets immediately, find a place to lay low, and after it blows over, we’ll sell them!" The middle-aged man looked happily at his accomplice, and the young man nodded excitedly in agreement.
With gloved hands, the middle-aged man carefully reached into the cupboard, planning to grab the gemstones first.
But as soon as his hand extended over, before even touching the gemstones, he felt something grab his hand, as if it was another hand, icy cold.
Confused, the middle-aged man looked down. The cupboard was particularly small, so logically there shouldn’t have been anything inside of it.
Then the middle-aged man felt as if his hand was released, the icy grip gone. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
Curious, he shone his flashlight into it, and then a pale Ghost’s face abruptly emerged from the cupboard.
Bloody red eyes, tears of blood, and a ghastly terrifying face, the female ghost opened her mouth, spewing a black, unidentified liquid onto the middle-aged man’s hand.
"Aaaaahhhhh!" the middle-aged man screamed loudly, crawling backward, only to find that the terrifying female ghost had disappeared.
"What’s wrong?" came the question from his accomplice behind.
"There’s... there’s... there’s a Ghost!" the middle-aged man turned around and saw the female ghost perched upon his accomplice’s shoulder, his body already grotesquely twisted.
"A Ghost! There’s a Ghost!" The piercing screams tore through the night sky.
