Chapter 239: Chapter 99 Andrew’s Resurrection
"Is that so? Humans are indeed interesting creatures," murmured Nyarlathotep while holding a wrench, working on assembling a robot.
Calling it an engineering robot wouldn’t be quite right, as the robot was a product of Nyarlathotep’s synthesis of engineering and science.
Nyarlathotep set the wrench down, having found Andrew’s soul. As soon as Nyarlathotep left the Dream Restaurant, he pulled Andrew’s soul out of the Land of Dead Silence.
The Land of Dead Silence was a place Nyarlathotep had been studying of late. Originally, the destination of souls in this world was quite simple: those who believed in the Gods would enter The Kingdom of God after death.
Those without faith were cast into the Soul Abyss to suffer torment. Eventually, they would dissolve into nutrients for the Soul Abyss and become pure soul entities.
Soul entities without emotions, without memories, much like newborn infants, were then taken away by the Grim Reaper to become food for the Gods.
Yes, food. Pure souls had a big market among the Gods, their delectable taste earning unanimous praise.
Even to satiate the appetites of the Gods, sometimes the less devout believers would be deliberately thrown into the Soul Abyss to produce provisions.
One wonders what those believers thought in their hearts upon discovering such treatment.
But all that was no more. As Nyarlathotep grew inexhaustibly weary, he descended and slew those petty ants himself, causing the fall of the Gods.
And without the divine power of the Gods to sustain it, the Soul Abyss too collapsed, but it also formed a more unique Land of Dead Silence.
All souls would come here and gradually enter into slumber, and naturally, Andrew’s soul was among them.
However, Nyarlathotep didn’t immediately resurrect Andrew. Instead, he browsed through Andrew’s memories and thus came to know of Andrew’s encounters.
"Peasant! You’re blocking the way of the great son of the Marquis of the Heavens!" bellowed a burly knight standing in front of Andrew, showing off in front of his master.
Andrew clenched his fists in anger. The Knight Academy was so vast, and he had deliberately kept to the edge of the path, yet these people still blocked his way.
"I’m sorry... my lord, I’ll move immediately," Andrew said with humiliating deference, head bowed; as a vagrant, he was acutely aware of how incomparable he was to these nobles.
"Did I say you could go?" asked a young man dressed in lavish clothes as he stepped down from a luxurious carriage.
However, his greenish-black eye circles and unnaturally pale skin proved him to be nothing but a wastrel emptied by debauchery.
Carlos Vidal slowly approached, casually slapped Andrew’s face and said, "Peasant, do you know whose path you are obstructing?"
Andrew kept his head down, his body trembling with rage.
"Oh, you little mongrel, without a father or mother, what are you shaking for?" Carlos mocked loudly, with his guards laughing along.
"I apologize, my lord. Please forgive me," Andrew said with his head lowered, well aware of the way to survive as a vagrant.
To stay alive, he had fought with stray dogs for food in the trash and even devoured bread thrown to him smeared in spit hastily.
No matter how vile the abuse he faced, he had endured it, all the more so because a lowly peasant who disrespected a marquis’s son would be beaten viciously, severely enough to potentially lead to death.
Carlos’ face darkened. It was this man who had caused him to lose face during the classroom duel. No matter what, he had to regain his standing.
Even the flirtatious little mistresses of the Empire Tulip were mocking him for being defeated by a lowborn, for going limp as soon as he entered. It all seemed to be the fault of that lowborn!
However, he couldn’t just hit this guy at will, as it would undoubtedly tarnish his own reputation, so he needed a reason. freewebnoveℓ.com
Carlos approached Andrew and whispered into his ear, "You have a sister, right?"
Andrew’s pupils dilated instantly, and his breathing grew heavy.
Seeing Andrew’s reaction, Carlos was pleased and continued to whisper, "Do you want to see what your sister looks like under me?"
"Bang!" With a powerful punch, Andrew was furious, hitting Carlos hard in the stomach.
But it had no effect; the Magic Amulet Carlos wore blocked the attack.
"This lowborn is attacking the son of the great Noble of the Sky! As a nobleman, I retaliate against you!" Carlos crowed with delight, and then his men charged forward.
Andrew had potential, but that was all; he stood no chance against four Grade Four Knights.
Soon, he was beaten to a pulp, lying on the ground.
"Lowborn, I’ll tie you up and let you watch how your sister becomes a woman, hahahaha~" Carlos squatted in front of Andrew, grabbing his hair and laughing triumphantly.
"Ptui!" Gathering all his strength, Andrew spat a bloodied tooth onto Carlos’s face, the tooth landing neatly in Carlos’s mouth, who swallowed it down.
Carlos clutched at his throat, retching violently, and then screamed with bloodshot eyes, "Eugh... Kill! Someone... kill this guy!"
Andrew looked at the longswords in the hands of the knights, closed his eyes, followed by a surge of excruciating pain.
"Master, shall we modify this little one?" a small robot stood beside Nyarlathotep, respectfully looking at him.
"No, I had the intention to turn him into a machine, but there’s a wondrous power within his body." Nyarlathotep looked at Andrew’s body, which housed a force not of this world.
Nyarlathotep was very interested in it, but the power had dissipated, so to study it, he would have to resurrect Andrew.
Resurrecting Andrew was not a difficult task, especially since he had already extracted Andrew’s soul. All he needed to do was repair Andrew’s body to bring him back to life.
Nyarlathotep waved his hand, and in an instant, gnawed and unrecognizable severed limbs appeared.
Nyarlathotep put the leg and arm back in place, then wiped them, and the limbs were restored to their original condition and regrew.
"Alright, get in there." Nyarlathotep pressed Andrew’s soul, pushing it back into his body.
Then Nyarlathotep continued his research, while behind him, Andrew slowly opened his eyes.
Andrew blinked in confusion. He remembered that he had died, but why was he now lying in a strange place?
Andrew suddenly sat up, feeling his arm, which was intact.
"You’re awake? Little bro?"
