Chapter 184: Chapter 44 Lafra’s Dark Cuisine

"Who are those two kids?" Lafra asked curiously as she watched Suki Umita and Menma happily feasting in the restaurant.

"These two..." Chen Ze scratched his head, not knowing why, but he felt an unsettling feeling in his heart.

"One is a boy who regretted not speaking his true feelings for many years, and the other is a good girl." Chen Ze thought deeply, reminded of the story of Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day. In this case, it seemed that Suki Umita was treating Menma as an illusion.

"That little girl is a Spiritual Body," Lafra remarked, immediately noticing something was off about Menma. Although Menma could eat and hold chopsticks, the energy she emitted couldn’t fool anyone.

"Yes, right, a Spiritual Body," Chen Ze nodded. This was natural since Menma had already died in her childhood.

Chen Ze looked around. There was nothing abnormal in the kitchen, but he felt the ominous premonition growing stronger.

"Do you know something?" Lafra looked at Chen Ze, his behavior far too strange. It was rare to see him so enthusiastic about new customers.

"Maybe..." Chen Ze hesitated, ultimately deciding not to reveal what he knew. After all, it wouldn’t be particularly helpful and wouldn’t be fair to Suki Umita and Menma.

"Dear, I’ve made a cake, want to give it a try?" Watching Lafra’s cheerful expression as she brought out a bowl of something that clearly didn’t seem properly baked, Chen Ze finally realized what the bad feeling he had upon entering the kitchen was about.

With a forced smile, Chen Ze picked up a spoon, scooped a spoonful of the batter, and put it into his mouth. It was another indescribably strange taste.

Because it wasn’t baked, there was a raw egg taste, and Chen Ze bit into a large clump of congealed sugar. The flavor of flour mixed with an array of odd tastes gave Chen Ze a feeling of near-transcendence.

Of course, it wasn’t the kind of sublime transcendence one might wish for, more like the sort that would be experienced if Hell were above.

"Brother, brother! Look, Manager Uncle has such a strange expression," Elena said in a low voice, all the while anxiously clutching her clothes.

Chen Ze’s expression looked like he was enduring something painful, and even Elena felt pity for him.

Andrew silently ate his curry pork chop rice. He, of course, noticed what was happening, but what could he do? Lafra was the manager uncle’s girlfriend, and Andrew now understood the concept of a girlfriend.

It was a domestic matter, and Andrew thought it was best not to get involved in the affairs of the manager’s wife.

"Aren’t you going out yet?" Hastur looked irritably at Nyarlathotep, who was still sprawled on his chair reading manga. How long had this guy been here?

Hastur couldn’t handle his own business because of him. If it hadn’t been for reaching his limit and sending an avatar to direct Midra and the others in a movie, Hastur thought he would have lost his patience and taken action.

"I find this place quite interesting, plus I don’t have anything to do if I go out," Nyarlathotep turned over on his side.

Hastur rolled his eyes. Killing these little ants and then having nothing to do? Couldn’t Nyarlathotep go out and manipulate people’s hearts? Stir up some trouble? Hastur remembered Nyarlathotep wasn’t usually like this.

Speaking of Nyarlathotep... Hastur suddenly remembered something. In the memories he accessed before, there was a piece about Nyarlathotep. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm

Hastur browsed through the memories and finally found the name "Crawling Up Nyaruko."

"Nyarlathotep, do you want to check this out?" Hastur said with a smile, turning on the computer and searching for the resources of Crawling Up Nyaruko.

"What is this?" Nyarlathotep leaned in closer, He had wanted to ask about this thing before, but Hastur watched very closely, not giving Him any chance to touch it.

"You’ll know if you look at it," Hastur said, wrapping the computer screen in His own power. He certainly didn’t want Chen Ze to have to repair it.

Chen Ze scratched his head. Menma and Suki Umita had already gone back, leaving behind only a hundred yen, which was all the money Suki Umita had on him. Chen Ze wasn’t too concerned about this, but he was worried that his intervention might affect the development of the storyline of "Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day."

He was quite impressed by the theory that a butterfly flapping its wings could cause a storm. Chen Ze felt that if his intervention prevented Menma from fulfilling her wish and the Super Peace Busters from reuniting, it would be like owing something.

"Uncle Manager, I’ll help you wipe the tables and wash the dishes today," Andrew came over, looking a bit sheepish at Chen Ze.

He always wanted to do something to repay Chen Ze. At first, he planned to become a Knight to protect Chen Ze’s safety, but that idea faded after he saw Lafra.

Andrew was very self-aware. No matter how he trained, he knew he couldn’t surpass Lafra, at least not for a very long time.

But every time he came to enjoy the warm hot water and the delicious food, guilt made Andrew uncomfortable.

"No..." Chen Ze saw Andrew’s eyes and hesitated.

"Alright then, I’ll leave it to you," Chen Ze nodded and started rummaging through the fridge for ingredients.

Lafra had gone upstairs, saying she was going to check on Betty. Chen Ze felt much more relieved; at least if Lafra wasn’t in the kitchen, she probably wouldn’t have so much time to study those dark cuisines.

"Sister, why do we have to enter this place? What if they’re all bad people?" The sound of wind chimes and a voice Chen Ze had never heard before came in.

Chen Ze curiously stuck his head out to look and saw a brown-haired girl leading a black-haired boy in.

"Jack, don’t be like that. The spirit of exploring the unknown is indispensable!" The girl clenched her fists with high spirit.

"Ah, there’s no hope for this sister," the boy named Jack sighed and resignedly sat down on a chair.

"Welcome to the Dream Restaurant. What would you like to eat?" Chen Ze came out with a smile. There were new customers, and he couldn’t wait to find out more about them.

"Uncle, I want a grilled devil fish!" The sister grinned and sat down on a chair.

"How can you accept this so quickly? Well, I’ll just have some fried chicken," Jack rolled his eyes, not knowing what to say about his sister.

"Sorry, we don’t have grilled devil fish here," Chen Ze shook his head. He didn’t even know what a devil fish was.

"Then just give me a dish made with fish~"

"All right, please wait a moment."

Chen Ze tied on a headscarf; it was a good opportunity to try out that dish.
