Chapter 180: Chapter 40: The Daredevil Warrior Sebastian
"Indeed, this must be another one of my adolescent fantasies..." Suki Umita scratched his head in distress. He remembered this door which appeared out of nowhere in his house, and he had even gone inside, where there was a man who looked like a bad guy, along with a waiter dressed in strange clothes.
Although the waiter was pretty, after considering it, Suki Umita decided not to go in, even though the man spoke very kindly.
But now there was a new problem, which was that recently he could often see his friend Menma, who had passed away long ago.
"Hey, Umita, when did your house get an extra door?" Menma, in a white dress, curiously looked at the door in front of her. A door that appeared out of thin air was, to say the least, beyond common sense.
"Ah... so it’s all just a fantasy?" Suki Umita shook his head. He felt certain that it was all due to the immense pressure on him lately, on top of the special reasons that come with puberty, resulting in hallucinations.
While playing games, Suki Umita suddenly remembered what the man had said before.
"If one day you encounter something inexplicable, come to me." Suki Umita remembered the man saying that. He had originally thought it was all a conspiracy by some evil organization, but now...
"Umita, what are you playing~" Looking at Menma sitting in front of him, she seemed so real that he could even reach out and touch her.
If he could touch her, he might even eat salted noodles – how could that be considered a hallucination? But Suki Umita knew that Menma was dead, a fact he had confirmed himself.
And the friends he used to play with have probably drifted apart by now. Suki Umita deeply missed the days he spent with Menma, and the girl who liked to follow him around.
Was this a hallucination or something else... Suki Umita fell into a state of confusion.
Chen Ze moved his fingers and served the dish ’Stargazing’ he had made according to the recipe on the table, then called Betty over, "Betty, come in for your food."
"Okay, Boss, this is... wait, what is this?" Betty blinked her eyes. What did she see?
The dead fish, with its eyes fixed ceilingward, coupled with the artistic presentation, suddenly killed Betty’s appetite.
"This is your ’Stargazing’," Chen Ze said, puzzled as he looked at Betty. Didn’t she specifically ask for it? Why did she lose her appetite at the sight of it?
"Eh-eh?" Betty was stunned. Although she had been browsing through many forums and websites lately, she really didn’t know that ’Stargazing,’ mentioned by so many people, referred to this kind of eerie creation.
Originally, Betty thought that with such a lovely name as ’Stargazing,’ it must be a dish of breathtaking beauty, something that would immerse people in a galaxy of culinary delight. But she never expected it to be fish dead with eyes open, longing for the stars...
Such dreamful fish, even in the oven, even after being thoroughly dead, still gaze at the stars, yearning to roam in the celestial skies.
"So, I think that eating such a dreamful fish is way too un-demonic for me!" Betty declared with righteous indignation.
Chen Ze’s mouth twitched. Betty really had a way with words. Clearly losing her appetite, but still able to spin a yarn full of grand moral stance – in a way, that’s a talent too.
"What do you think?" Chen Ze tapped on the wage advance agreement that Betty had insisted on signing at the start.
"Eh??" Betty blinked, sensing a bad premonition. freewebnσvel.cøm
"Ara ara, I recall a certain Succubus advancing several decades’ worth of wages, right? Maybe we should skip the bonuses for a while?" Chen Ze mused as he flicked the wage advance agreement.
"Manager~ I was just joking~ I’ll eat it all up~" Betty showed off her skill at changing her tune.
Chen Ze smiled. "Alright then, go for it, Betty."
Betty swallowed and then looked disconsolately at the Plate of Starry Sky in her plate, tremblingly reaching out her hand...
"Sebastian, any news lately?" Chen Ze came out, holding a cola, and sat opposite Sebastian.
"News? You mean information. Nothing special recently. However, the Dragon God has already called off the manhunt for those blasphemers." Sebastian finished his lemonade in one gulp. Today’s Magical Mapo Tofu was too spicy.
"Yeah, the Church of Light hasn’t called it off but their pursuit is half-hearted at best." Dragone chimed in. He had been following this major event closely for a while.
"How interesting, even a powerful deity like the God of Light, would give up?" Sebastian said without any filter. After all, in Chen Ze’s restaurant, dancing in front of a statue of the God of Light would do no harm.
"Sebastian, be careful." Dragone glared at Sebastian. Although the gods don’t pay much attention to a little Black Dragon, what if they did?
Chen Ze glanced at Dragone, and had to admit that Dragone really was a person whose gender you couldn’t tell unless he said it.
"Dragone must have a hard time normally, right?" Chen Ze was a bit curious.
"Of course, every time buying clothes, being dragged to women’s clothing stores, there was a time when Dragone wanted to swim, thought about getting undressed directly, then got stopped by the other Elf females, leaving the male Elves regretting it for quite some time," Sebastian bluntly exposed his old friend’s secret.
"Sebastian!" Dragone’s face turned crimson, and he jumped up, his fist connecting hard with Sebastian’s face.
Then Chen Ze watched, dumbfounded, as Sebastian was punched, flying straight back and smashing into the wall behind them, several meters away.
"Hiss..." Sebastian rubbed his face. That punch really hurt.
"Here’s the payment for the meal. Thank you for your hospitality, Manager." Dragone, ignoring Sebastian’s struggle, dragged him out.
Watching Sebastian’s continuous struggle, Chen Ze silently lit a candle for him in his mind.
Sebastian was a brave Dragon, daring to face a fist that could smash his head to bits, but generally, those who court death like that do not end well.
"Betty, how are you feeling?" Chen Ze entered the kitchen, where Betty was quietly washing dishes.
"Hmm...how to put it? The taste wasn’t as bad as I imagined, it’s just the appearance that really killed my desire to eat it." Betty pondered for a moment before giving her answer.
Chen Ze had no comment. After all, the Plate of Starry Sky was just an ordinary dish; it couldn’t possibly be so bad someone wouldn’t eat it, although its appearance was indeed a bit off-putting.
"So, would you like to try the ’Isatis Root Instant Noodles’?" Chen Ze asked with a smile.
"Manager...I advise you to act like a human being."
