Chapter 1241: Chapter 1241: Medicine King’s Trial

"Dad, look, Shuai has been kneeling for half a day, let him come in for dinner."

Thinking of Hao Shuai outside, Xue’Er suddenly lost her appetite; her beloved was suffering, and it pained her.

"No way, I want to eat now. Stop mentioning that boy, mentioning him ruins my good mood." Medicine King glared at Xue’Er and continued to eat his meal.

Xue’Er understood her father’s intention, so she stopped talking about it and quickly smiled, "Dad, eat more. By the way, since you’re home today, shouldn’t we have a little drink? I’ll go get some."

Without waiting for Medicine King to react, Xue’Er quickly walked towards the kitchen.

Before long, Xue’Er returned with a jug of wine and poured a large bowl for Medicine King, "Dad, it’s rare for us father and daughter to reunite, let’s celebrate. I’ll toast you with tea instead of wine."

Immediately, Xue’Er drank the tea in one gulp, and Medicine King’s eyebrows furrowed. How could he not know his daughter’s intentions? She definitely wants to get him drunk and then take her Shuai away.

However, since his daughter wants to play games, he’ll oblige. As for the wine, it won’t get him drunk. So he casually said, "Sure, let’s drink."

Medicine King picked up the bowl, ready to drink it all, but he suddenly noticed some white powder on the edge of the bowl. He smiled, knowing that his daughter had drugged it. He thought, "She is truly my daughter, to drug me so casually."

Honestly, Xue’Er was very discreet, and she didn’t drug the wine jug because it would easily be discovered. Instead, she chose to poison the bowl, but due to being nervous because it was her first time showing her skills in front of her father, she made a small mistake. Thus, Medicine King secretly noticed her intentions.

Medicine King didn’t immediately expose her but used a tactic against hers. He gently flicked the powder from the bowl’s edge with his fingers and drank it in one gulp, "Ah... good wine, truly good wine. Come, Xue’Er, eat more, you’ve been losing weight lately."

Feigning ignorance, Medicine King started picking dishes for Xue’Er and casually began eating.

After a few minutes, Medicine King knew the drug’s effects should take hold; seeing Xue’Er’s dazed and anxious look made him secretly chuckle.

"Ah, this daughter of mine, to harm her own father for that boy outside. Girls indeed grow distant as they mature." Medicine King sighed internally and then suddenly collapsed onto the table, pretending to be natural.

It was already past nine at night, insects were chirping outside, and Xue’Er called out to her father a few times with no response. She quietly tiptoed out.

"Shuai, I’m here to save you. Stand up quickly; you’ve been kneeling all day, you won’t hold out much longer." Xue’Er concernedly said.

"Xue’Er, I can’t stand up. I must let your father see my sincerity. I truly love you."

Hao Shuai actually wanted to stand up, as long as Medicine King personally came, but unfortunately, he didn’t, only Xue’Er. He aimed to gain Medicine King’s trust and acquire his medicinal teachings.

"Shuai, are you dazed from kneeling? I worked so hard to knock out dad with drugs and planned to take you away, and now you’re not standing up?"

Xue’Er was a bit frustrated, she had taken a big risk; if her dad woke up and found out she drugged him, he might directly deal with Shuai.

"Xue’Er, it’s okay, I must move your father. I can’t run away." Hao Shuai, lips pale and still gritting his teeth, said. It showed he had extraordinary resolve, worthy as the Demon Ancestor’s descendant.

Wang Xue had no choice but to stay there and watch, then wiped sweat off Hao Shuai’s forehead with a wet towel.

Suddenly, a dark silhouette rushed out, flinging Xue’Er aside, then struck towards Hao Shuai. At this moment, Hao Shuai saw the intruder was swift and might harm Xue’Er.

So, he couldn’t care anymore. Despite his exhaustion, he was a Celestial Dao Seven Star expert; facing danger, he could still handle it.

He leaped up and dodged the black-clad man’s attack skillfully; the intruder was equally surprised, not expecting Shuai to move so agilely after kneeling.

Suddenly, the black-clad man, eyes darting, thought of a great idea. He spun around and reached for Xue’Er. Hao Shuai was startled and yelled, but it was too late, the intruder had already grabbed Xue’Er’s throat.

"Cough, cough, cough..."

Xue’Er coughed intensely from the sudden grip.

"Don’t hurt her."

Seeing the intruder’s ruthlessness towards the girl, Hao Shuai thought if Xue’Er were harmed, not only would he fail to gain Medicine King’s teachings, he might also be hunted down.

Thinking thus, it was better to plead and then seek an opportunity to counterattack. So Hao Shuai said to the intruder, "You, please don’t act rashly. Whatever you want, come at me."

"Haha, what do I want? I want you dead. Can you make that happen?" the intruder asked mockingly.

"Alright, as long as you spare Xue’Er, I can die, but promise me you won’t go back on your word." Hao Shuai pondered, knowing he wouldn’t die so easily.

First, he wouldn’t commit suicide perfectly, avoiding fatal blows. Second, Medicine King and Xue’Er’s medical skill were superb; they would save him. This thought emboldened his response.

"Haha, as long as you’re willing to die for her, I’ll spare her," the intruder threatened.

"Are you telling the truth?" Hao Shuai wasn’t convinced, worrying if he got hurt, the intruder might still target Xue’Er.

"Do you think you have a choice?" the intruder tightened his grip, and Xue’Er started having breathing trouble.

"Cough... Shuai, don’t mind me, you... you mustn’t do anything rash, don’t..." Xue’Er alarmed by Hao Shuai and the intruder’s conversation realized what Shuai would do.

At this moment, Hao Shuai raised the Long Sword, deeply inhaled, and lifted the blade ready to thrust into his chest.

But, in that instant, his sword clattered to the ground, as a stone from nowhere hit his wrist, catching him off guard, and the sword fell.

"Haha, you have some conscience." The black-clad man pulled down his mask, and beside him, Xue’Er reacted first, quickly shouting, "Dad, how is it you?"

"Why can’t it be me?"

Evidently, Medicine King was quite pleased with Hao Shuai, who could at least die for Xue’Er. But what Medicine King didn’t know was Hao Shuai had intentions.

Now, Hao Shuai understood the situation, so he quickly knelt down and said, "Greetings to you, Father-in-law, please accept my bow."

"Haha, consider yourself sensible. Alright, as long as you truly treat Xue’Er well, I will support you. But if I find you harm her in any way, just you wait for my..."

Medicine King didn’t want to say a harsh word further.
