Chapter 795: Chapter 704: Qi of Light: The Revelation
This is a battle between monsters, a fierce clash unfolding right before Chichu Chun and Yun Que, both in a state of Heart Flow; every move of the opponent is vividly clear—an instant of blade light, splattered blood.
The biting cold and surging blood gas compete fiercely. Wounds heal the moment they appear, as the two shuttle and chase each other, Giant Blade and Tachi clashing. Explosive symphony surrounds the skyscrapers’ tops, dust and smoke swirling.
As the dust smoke dispersed, the audience below the stage and the special action team witnessed the end of this performance.
Chichu Chun’s heavy cannon was set up, blocking Aonomaru Yatetsu’s slash, while another long blade with Red Glow flowing on its surface was held in her hand, piercing the young man’s chest.
"Hoo..." Chichu Chun softly exhaled a breath of cold air.
The coldness slowly spread from the hand holding the long blade, covering half of the girl’s face; she appeared even colder, her hand pushing the blade in rather than retreating, forcing Yun Que to step back, pressing the blade deeper into his chest.
"How come this blade is in your hand?" Yun Que softly murmured.
He wanted to grip the handle, but his ascending breath instantly plummeted to the bottom.
His body was too weak, life long a flicker in the wind; the forcibly escalated breath completely backfired on Yun Que’s physique.
Scarlet Seal Ten Red, it was the blade he personally forged and gave to Thistle Xuedong, back when he thought they could carve a name for themselves in this era, leave deeds to be sung by later generations.
Until survival pushed him deeper into the mire of sin and blood, did he realize. Alas, he was but a grain of dust in history, all traces of his existence brushed away by a mere breeze.
"So... that’s how it is." Yun Que squeezed out a strained expression, "Did she too abandon her childish thoughts?"
"Uh..." Intense pain surged, Yun Que could no longer suppress the beastly frenzy within, flesh and blood wildly proliferating.
Before the Insect Race features could completely devour him, the young man used icy cold to freeze his own body.
Coldness pervades as the blood in his veins starts to solidify. Yun Que’s half-body turns into a sculpture, his head embedded in this frozen sculpture, ice marks rapidly spreading across every inch of his face.
"You’re different from us."
"You grow faster than all of us."
Yun Que’s speech slows, the light in his eyes fades away.
"Your future will be seen by people..."
"Well done."
...
Until the special action team reclaimed Yun Que’s corpse, Chichu Chun remained standing still, her gaze lowered, the other’s last words lingering in her ears.
The other gave up on a chance to cling to life; she could sense, for a moment before, the Insect Emperor’s glance fleetingly pierced Yun Que, yet he declined the chance to become a High-level Insect Race.
She did not kill the other; rather, the other chose death for himself.
The battle ended, the haze over this city would dissolve in the falling night, Chichu Chun pondered.
Familiar people beside her left again, yet Chichu Chun didn’t feel particularly sad, not even mournful; it was as if a stone was dropped into the lakeshore of her heart, causing a temporary ripple but no further waves.
Perhaps by dragging her weary body back to her room for a good sleep, today’s events would soon be forgotten by her.
Could such be considered growth?
...
"Light Chaser System loading, now running as administrator"
"Confirming individual identity, welcome to the Light Chaser System, Dark Gold Rose"
"Matters in New Nara City have temporarily concluded, the special action team opened the studio door; there they saw a large brain, its meat buds throbbing, tendrils spreading throughout the studio. Its cracks emanated melodious singing, attempting to bewilder people’s minds"
"The truth unveils, this brain used such means to disseminate the ’family notion’ via the city radio’s ’All Tomorrows’ FM channel to the entire city, causing the brains of those afflicted by mimetic pollution to unknowingly form worm embryos"
"An unheard method of dissemination, the patriarch is still assessing the lurking danger level of this incident, surely the contents on the curtain will undergo the strictest scrutiny before the war’s end"
"Incredible, the great mastermind behind this incident turned out to be a Patriarch"
"For years, Yun Que maintained close ties with High-level Insect Race, Syndicate, and the Eight-Spider Nest Mother planted a worm embryo within him, which could suppress his hidden illness. If he desired, he could completely abandon his plagued body and ascend upon the new world stage"
"Then, how many members of his family were entangled in this matter behind him?"
"How deeply have the forces of hidden enemies infiltrated the Chichu Five Families?"
"And they weren’t even aware before the first crisis outbreak"
"Were it not for her pre-planted anchors..."
The cursor floats in the darkness, Xu Xiaoyou’s gaze lingers on Heidelberg for a moment, then slowly moves away.
"With that brain being cleared, a significant turmoil erupted in New Nara City; some worm embryos in people’s brains lost control, turned into monsters rushing onto the streets, while more people’s worm embryos died, yet still left behind intangible psychological cues, also potential risks"
"If these people transformed into Syndicate as well..."
...
"The Cyan Sage has intervened, his Spiritual Domain enveloping Chichu Heaven entirely, eliminating all instilled psychological cues; the number of people suffering from mimetic pollution was beyond the patriarch’s imagination"
"Total exceeds the combined population of three cities, even in Chichu City, traces of ’family notion’ are seen, unimaginable risks should it not be averted, could bring future crisis"
"Cyan Sage, Cyan Sage..."
Xu Xiaoyou thought, she might never be able to uncover this little old man’s mysterious veil.
Even during the severe winter’s arrival inside the Light Chasing Tower, she had never seen his shadow.
Like someone wandering at the world’s edges, no one knows his whereabouts, he empathizes with the sufferings of mankind yet remains indifferent, only stepping in when major crises arise, then retreating into obscurity once more.
Her spirit had once touched the ’Eternal Garden’, glimpsing his silhouette there.
A hunchbacked little old man in a conical hat, seemingly fishing on an icy surface, upon noticing her gaze, saying nothing, merely rising to collect the fish basket and silently turning away.
What is the true motive behind his actions?
If he truly doesn’t care for the world, why reveal his compassion?
Even if the world truly collapses, people like him will always find a niche to reside, albeit with harsher conditions.
Yet she cannot let people wander in confusion and despair, fade away weakly.
She strives to master power and wealth for all those reasons.
She wants to make choices for the perplexed.
If amid the darkness, there’s a sole lighthouse guiding people’s direction, it shall be hers.
For this, she could resort to any means.
