Chapter 789: Chapter 698: Welcome Home
Elias’s lips twitched slightly.
He knew that guy wouldn’t come looking for him for anything good!
"How much?"
"Forty-five trillion credit points? To fill a small gap. If it’s not enough, I’ll find you again, and we’ll discuss more specific cooperation matters later?"
"You!"
Elias cursed. He was dumbfounded. Was the other speaking Jiulong dialect?
Was it his synesthesia beacon malfunctioning and unable to translate the other’s language, or was Dark Gold Rose out of their mind, opening with forty-three trillion, and it was still a small gap?
"Are you freaking kidding me?" Elias lowered his voice, "Are you planning to flip the table and start a company war, Secretary General?"
"I’ll draft a more detailed list and send it to you later." The other person said this and directly ended the communication.
Elias was so angry he wanted to curse. Should he target Dark Gold Rose?
No, he has to fully launch a war against Light Chasing Garden. Take five cities today, ten cities tomorrow; if he doesn’t show some backbone, Elias can’t imagine how the other would use him as an ATM in the future!
The daily military expenditure supporting the Chichu Heaven battlefield alone is a sky-high figure, not to mention those Titanic beasts, causing the White Night Family’s support rate within Cosmic Heavy Industries to drop by a full five points, just thinking about it makes Elias’s heart bleed.
Fight, the company war will start soon!
But quickly, Elias accepted reality.
The capability suppression between Light Prism Tier is just so plain and simple, the other really would come and beat him.
...
On the other side, after resolving the funding issue, Xu Xiaoyou called the home family.
After hearing her words, Chichu Qiu was in deep thought.
"I understand your meaning, Dark Gold Rose. I will have someone investigate the relevant matters immediately, and I will get back to you in a few hours."
As for the Chichu Chun’s side... Xu Xiaoyou paused for a moment, still got through to the girl’s call.
Before long, Chichu Chun pushed the door into the study. The girl was dressed in a black Gothic dress, seeming to have concluded a battle not long ago.
"The ability to restart the world?"
The girl raised her eyebrows and sat in front of her, legs crossed.
"So, You, you traveled back from the future?"
"How is the Chichu Family in the future."
"Swallowed up by other family lines of Cosmos, part of Chichu Heavy Industry’s light industry transferred to Alfas, renamed to Wuwu Logistics."
"Not bad," Chichu Chun nodded, "at least the name sounds pretty cute."
"Many people died," Xu Xiaoyou said. "That was a very dark era, a prolonged severe winter arrived, reducing the living space of human civilization to less than one millionth of its original, the Wastelands expanded to all areas outside Light Chasing Tower, shrouded in perennial fog."
"Ordinary people lived on the bottom of Light Chasing Tower, filled with toxic exhaust fumes, no heating, a day’s labor couldn’t earn the most basic survival resources. Different big companies occupied their respective floors, ordinary people became the consumables of that era."
"The lifespan of company colonialism came to an end, not killed by long-oppressed people, but by time."
"Youyou tried to allocate the resources available within the tower, at the most ideal state could only last one hundred and fifty years, let alone frequent conflicts between companies."
"Getting thirty percent of the ideal state would be pretty good."
"Everyone knows the end of this era is extinction, before the next spring arrives."
Xu Xiaoyou sighed softly, opened the liquor cabinet, and selected a rare white wine.
"I’ve tried to make efforts, but all failed."
The two were silent for a moment. Chichu Chun looked at the white wine gradually filling the glass, then at the blonde girl, whose fatigue deepened in her eyes.
"Then... what about me?"
"You disappeared," Xu Xiaoyou said. "I searched for you for a long time, Youyou switched to hibernation mode to reduce energy consumption as well, confirming the ending couldn’t be changed, so I came back."
"Oh my gosh, I’m really irresponsible..." Chichu Chun didn’t know what to say. "Did you endure such a long time alone?"
Xu Xiaoyou rubbed her temples, the fatigue in her eyes eased a little, adding a bit of clarity.
"It’s nothing. The average life of Light Prism Tier is four-fifths infinite," Xu Xiaoyou thought for a while, "plus, besides deciding major matters, I’m often lying in the hibernation pod, so it’s not that boring."
"Okay, it’s three-fifths. Gloomy Blue Tide was killed by Deep White Midnight."
"Don’t crack jokes from Hell in such a heavy atmosphere!" Chichu Chun retorted.
"In the end, the World Government was established, but unfortunately has no voice, not as I expected."
"I returned here midway, but unfortunately, there was nothing left."
The gentle light flickered in Xu Xiaoyou’s eyes.
"It feels so good to be back."
Looking at the familiar Chichu Chun in front of her, Xu Xiaoyou, for a moment, also felt a sense of time-traveling.
Seeing Xu Xiaoyou still as unrestrained as before, Chichu Chun was somewhat amused, her mouth slightly pursed, wanting to say something but was silent eventually.
"What’s the matter?" Xu Xiaoyou asked.
"Sorry," Chichu Chun lowered her eyes.
"Huh?"
"Because of what?" Xu Xiaoyou sipped the white wine in her glass. "Because you disappeared in the future, or because of the New Nara City thing?"
"Both, I guess."
"Then you do owe an apology," Xu Xiaoyou nodded in agreement, "I consumed more than half of my wealth. This consumption can’t just be filled by earning back later; you have to find a way to make it up to me."
Seeing Chichu Chun truly bow her head, Xu Xiaoyou coughed lightly.
"Look on the bright side; we still have another chance to save the world."
"But you can’t be entirely blamed. I tried to simulate that environment; apart from talking to convince Heidelberg, there’s no other opportunity."
"That’s too absurd..." Chichu Chun turned away.
"Don’t talk like that, okay?"
Another burst of silence, then Chichu Qiu’s call came back.
"I already had the Wind Crane Family check; there are no records of new Moon Sugar circulating in New Nara City in the past half year."
Xu Xiaoyou’s fingertips tapped on the wine glass.
"So, ’family concept’ is just a guise?"
"It aligns with my thoughts; relying solely on Moon Sugar can’t possibly spread among all the city’s residents."
"I will intensify the investigation further; I’ll notify you if there’s anything suspicious."
"Hmm, thank you."
Xu Xiaoyou ended the communication, thoughts rotating in her eyes.
"Looks like, tomorrow, I’ll have to personally visit New Nara City."
She said as she stood up, giving Chichu Chun a gentle smile:
"It’s getting late; let’s go rest first."
Just as Xu Xiaoyou was about to push the door and leave the study, the silently contemplative girl suddenly stepped up, holding her, giving her a silent hug.
"Welcome home."
Chichu Chun gently buried her head in her chest, the long-lost warmth made Xu Xiaoyou stunned, her arms hung by her side raised and then lowered, finally raised again, somewhat awkwardly returning the girl’s embrace.
The two girls leaned on each other, the soft light elongated their shadows, and in this silently flowing time, they seemed to have shared many thoughts or resolved their own heart knots.
"I’m back."
