Chapter 780: Chapter 690: The First Battle

After the five-day training ended, in front of Base One, an army of tens of thousands was ready to set off.

"The goal of this battle is very clear: completely occupy the entire area from Paper Lantern Harbor to Mofang."

"Did everyone understand!"

Major General Chichu Yi shouted loudly, his powerful voice having great penetrating strength.

"Understood!"

"Dismissed! Each company, arrange your combat tasks, and deploy completely before nightfall!"

"Yes!"

Ten minutes after the mobilization order was issued, military transport vehicles drove out of the base, entering the forest and marching toward the distant harbor.

"The battle is finally about to begin."

In the command center, Chichu Heaven’s officers sat upright, their expressions resolute. This was the first battle in the simulated warzone, and it was crucial for them. Not only their soldiers but thousands of outside spectators were focused on this battle. Winning decisively would greatly boost the morale of the entire army.

If this path could truly be cleared, it would be something monumental for them and for all of humanity.

"Chichu Yi." Chichu Qiu rested both hands on the command table. "Listen to me, you are the Commander-in-Chief of this battle. This operation is allowed only to succeed, never to fail."

"There is no room for error!"

"If you don’t win beautifully, take off that uniform yourself!"

"Understood."

Chichu Yi performed a standard military salute toward the front, then focused on the battlefield.

Chichu Chun had already marked the threat levels of all bases on the sand table. Inside the city, there were three high-level Insect Race commanders, and tens of thousands of the Insect Race.

He planned to divide forces into five routes: the most well-equipped mechanized troops would land at the harbor for a surprise attack to draw the enemy’s main force, while the mobile units would engage in flanking maneuvers. The area from base Eleven to base Thirteen in the southern city would be the core occupation zone, where the information engineering troops closely monitored enemy movements to launch a mass offensive when the time was right.

In the warfare of this era, the most important aspect is not the battlefield itself but both parties’ control over information resources. As long as they can deploy an investigation matrix first and gain the upper hand in information reconnaissance, even if the enemy numbers are ten times the size of their soldiers, he is confident he could cut through the Insect Race’s defenses layer by layer like a surgeon, directly targeting the core area!

Chichu Yi calmed his mind; it felt as though he were sitting on a chessboard, and his opponent hidden in the shadows gradually revealed its menacing tentacles.

"Maintain the advance."

...

On the mountain road leading to the dam, Jishilin explained the combat plan to several soldiers beside him, as Huang Yusheng peeked out to observe the surroundings.

Below was the dry dam embankment, with the dam body tapering downwards on both sides and many yellow scars distributed across it, with dense vegetation growing in the cracks.

"Damn, Old Huang, are you nervous?" a soldier beside him asked.

"Do you really believe it if I say I’m not nervous? I can smell blood; those monsters are on the mountaintop."

The soldier took a deep breath and continued to operate the drone to scout the nearby area.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

A series of loud explosions sounded, as three fighter jets whistled through the sky and fired several missiles at the dam body, causing the ground to shake violently.

On the other side of the mountainside, a unit was already engaged in a confrontation with the Insect Race; the assault on the mountaintop had begun.

"Damn it, couldn’t they at least give us a heads-up before starting!" Jishilin rarely cursed. "The commotion has drawn them all out!"

"Get off the vehicle!"

He shouted, jumped off the transport vehicle, and ducked into the grass.

"What the hell are you waiting for; they’re attacking!"

Huang Yusheng kicked Xiaoliu and also jumped off the transport vehicle.

Xiaoliu snapped out of it and grabbed his gun under Frey’s urging, jumping down the slope.

"Watch out, it’s the enemy bomber!"

A shell ’whooshed’ down from the sky, exploding on the transport vehicle, instantly engulfing the soldiers inside in flames, unable to even scream.

Xiaoliu rolled several times down the slope, crashed onto the road surface, struggled to get up, and his pupils trembled after seeing the scene above.

"Ugh, ahhhh!"

Huang Yusheng with bulging eyes reached out his hand, as the soldier behind him was hit by a poisoned stinger, his chest flesh dissolving from the point of impact with half of his face barely hanging on.

Witnessing a person he spent five days with die right in front of him, Huang Yusheng forgot how to breathe momentarily and only grabbed his gun to shoot down two Bee Stingers charging at him after Xiaoliu’s urgent reminders.

"Damn it, damn it!" Huang Yusheng cursed angrily, his eyes bright red as he shot at the Bee Stinger corpses.

Xiaoliu climbed up, tackled him to the ground to dodge an incoming sting, and dragged him toward the direction behind a cover.

"It’s an ambush." Jishilin hid behind a rock. "These Insect Race know our movements!"

"Our trailing convoy was cut off; we have to find a way to break through, just the few of us!"

"If they surround us, we’re done for!"

"What the hell is all this crap!" Huang Yusheng shouted angrily at the sky.

In just one round of attack, only seven of the twenty people on their vehicle remained, including two logistics personnel.

Jishilin stuck out his head, but was pushed back by enemy fire, hiding half of his body beneath cover, extending a hand out and shooting wildly.

A few Bee Stingers just revealed themselves from cover only to be shot and exploded.

"Ahhhh!"

A soldier stood up amidst extreme panic, firing bursts of assault rifle shots.

"Stop yelling, that’s not how I taught you!"

Jishilin wiped dust off his face, reached out to pull the soldier, but only dragged back half of a bloody and blurry body, who became the target of Hive Stingers the instant he stood up.

"Fool, you still said you’d bring glory to your ancestors back home. Died here, didn’t you?" Jishilin cursed.

"Follow me closely!"

Jishilin shouted loudly, took out a metal ball from his waist, pressed it with both hands, and threw it at the direction of the Bee Stinger swarm.

The moment the metal sphere hit the ground, a large blue mist spread.

The Bee Stingers affected by the blue mist started swelling up, losing direction and crashing around, with some even exploding mid-air.

"Charge!"

Jishilin raised two Attacker guns and charged, individually killing each unaffected Bee Stinger.

"Don’t do anything stupid, get to that hill!"

Huang Yusheng tried to aim, but realized he couldn’t hit anything while running, so he loosened the gun strap around his neck, swung it and flung away the Bee Stinger approaching him.

Xiaoliu flipped his jacket, enveloped a Predator lunging at Frey, slammed it to the ground, and stomped on it several times.

At that moment, the ground beneath him suddenly caved in, leading Xiaoliu to realize he had stepped into a Pit Worm trap!

A stunned Bee Stinger was wobbling toward him as it seemed to regain consciousness.

Xiaoliu nervously tried to pull out his leg, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t pull it out. Just as the bee sting aimed at him, an invisible airflow barrier formed before him, deflecting the sting.

To his right, Frey maintained a raised hand posture, her expression looking slightly strained.

"You can use Air Flow Technique?" Xiaoliu exclaimed in shock.

"Of course I can, I’m a Charm Girl! Which Charm Girl can’t use Elemental Techniques?"

"You’re a Charm Girl!?" Xiaoliu’s pupils quivered.

Frey’s cheeks flushed. "Shut up, haven’t you seen a virgin Charm Girl before?"
