Chapter 76: Chapter 76: Instant Kill

In the main hall, some Kobolds were breaking rocks, some were planning new tunnels, and the rest were hauling away debris. The whole place was a bustling construction site.

It was easy to imagine how, at this rate, an intricate Kobold nest could be constructed in just a dozen days or so.

Among them was a Giant Beast Dogman, its physique clearly distinct from the others.

Pacing back and forth like a foreman, it was nearly as tall as Marcus, its body a mass of knotted muscle. It dragged a heavy iron pickaxe in its hand.

Adventurer’s Association Universal Monster Atlas

[Tier 32]: Giant Beast Dogman

Individual Threat Rating: [Difficulty]

Appearance:

A rare mutation among Kobolds. Some scholars believe it to be a throwback to an ancestral bloodline.

Its physique is far larger than its kin, reaching heights of up to two meters.

Habits:

Same as common Kobolds, but the Giant Beast Dogman is usually the leader of the colony, enjoying absolute authority.

Special Abilities:

The Giant Beast Dogman possesses immense Power matching its size, capable of wielding heavy pickaxes or stone pillars.

Additionally, when a Giant Beast Dogman becomes extremely enraged, its eyes turn crimson, and its Power increases significantly.

Key Weaknesses:

Ordinary flesh and blood. Can be killed by conventional means.

Association Notes:

It is not recommended for an Adventurer to confront one alone head-on.

It is best for the Vanguard to hold its attention while ranged party members focus their fire, eliminating it before it can enter a frenzied state.

In addition to the Giant Beast Dogman in the main hall, a new, fairly deep tunnel had been excavated on the right side of the cavern.

A series of low growls, distinctly deeper than those of a normal Kobold, echoed from within. Without a doubt, another Giant Beast Dogman was digging in there.

The locations of the two most dangerous Giant Beast Dogmen in the colony were now known, making the situation much clearer.

Once they had a clear view, the group pulled their heads back.

Under the cover of the noise from the Kobolds’ digging, Marcus spoke in a low voice.

"What’s the plan?"

"I’ll start us off."

Zelir quickly came up with a plan. "I’ll charge up an Arcane Missile and take out the Giant Beast Dogman in the main hall. Then you guys just clear out the rest steadily, like we usually do."

Then Zelir glanced at Lante.

"Lante, I don’t have any special requests for you. Just observe the battle from the side, and if you see a spot that needs help, support it with some Magic."

"Okay...!" Lante nodded vigorously, but he still couldn’t calm his nerves. Even his breathing had become a little ragged.

"Remember, wait for my move before you go in," Zelir added as a final reminder.

Everyone agreed in low voices, waiting for Zelir’s surprise attack.

Zelir raised the White Wax Wood Base Material, aiming steadily at the Giant Beast Dogman.

The Kobolds in the main hall were clearly very confident in the traps they had set in the tunnels. Every one of them was focused on their work; not a single Kobold glanced toward the entrance.

Wisps of blue light began to converge. After Instructor Marvin’s guidance, Zelir’s process of gathering an Arcane Missile was much smoother.

The Magic Power, under his guidance, surged along a set path, and a Rhombus Missile quickly took shape.

Just then, a more perceptive Kobold finally sensed that something was wrong.

’Wait...’

’Why is there an unusual Magic Wave in the area?’

It stopped what it was doing and looked around in confusion, just in time to spot Zelir at the tunnel entrance.

However, it was too late. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com

Arcane Missile!

"BOOM!!!"

The blue light of the Arcane Missile burst forth, briefly overwhelming the brightness of the torches in the main hall. The violent Magic Power tore through the air as it shot forward!

"BANG!!!"

The violent explosion instantly drowned out the sound of pickaxes striking stone. The entire main hall shook, and sand and pebbles RUSTLED down from the ceiling.

The Arcane Missile precisely struck the Giant Beast Dogman that had been pacing back and forth!

At the moment of the explosion, a huge cloud of smoke and dust burst out, but the cloud wasn’t purely gray-brown; it was mixed with a large amount of dark red, misty blood.

The main hall fell silent. The Kobolds didn’t seem to have grasped what had just happened.

The smoke and dust slowly dissipated, revealing that nearly half of the Giant Beast Dogman’s body had vanished.

Next to it lay a pool of unrecognizable minced flesh and charred bone fragments. These remains were splattered all over the surrounding stone walls.

Giant Beast Dogman, instant kill!

At the same time, Marcus’s roar erupted.

"Move!!!"

He was the first to charge out of the tunnel, drawing the attention of all the Kobolds. Gray drew his Longsword and followed close behind.

"Gala! Walawaka!"

(Humans! It’s humans!)

"Jigaga!"

(Kill them!)

The main hall immediately fell into chaos. After their initial shock, the Kobolds snatched up their weapons, let out sharp shrieks, and swarmed toward Marcus.

Marcus’s Charge was unstoppable. Combined with his natural advantage in size and Power, he sent two Kobolds blocking his path flying.

He then swung his Battle Saber, his powerful, heavy slashes easily cleaving through the Kobolds’ crude weapons and their bodies alike!

Gray covered Marcus’s flank, using Thrust or Vortex Slash to kill any Kobolds trying to launch a sneak attack.

Valles drew his bow and nocked an arrow.

He didn’t use a Thunder Arrow; simply infusing a regular Arrow with a bit of Fighting Qi was enough to kill these Kobolds.

"WHOOSH!"

From the rear, Valles calmly picked them off. With every arrow he loosed, a Kobold swarming Marcus would inevitably fall.

Hill continued with her usual fighting style. The front line didn’t really need her, so she hovered at the edges of the battle.

Hill immediately locked down the narrow side tunnels that could be used as escape routes. Any Kobold that came near was met with a swift slice to the neck.

The squad carried out the extermination methodically. The sheer brutal impact of the slaughter left Lante stunned for a moment.

He gripped his Magic Wand tightly, his palms slick with sweat, but his mind was a complete blank. He didn’t know what to do.

Zelir noticed Lante’s condition but didn’t say much.

’He was a young master of the Nobility, after all. A reaction like this is perfectly normal.’

’I’m not asking him to contribute much, just that he stays safe.’

Zelir focused all his attention on the depths of the newly excavated tunnel.

"THUD... THUD... THUD..."

The sound of heavy footsteps was approaching, growing rapidly louder.

Clearly, the other Giant Beast Dogman that had been excavating rock in the tunnel had heard the commotion outside and was rushing to provide support.

’Counting the seconds... Mm, it’s about time.’
