Chapter 54: Chapter 54: Full Element Mage
"Her name is Manlin. She’s an Upper Level Mage who specializes in Empowerment Magic."
Marvin introduced her casually.
"You should get on her good side. She might just be the next president of the Black Stone Town Mage’s Guild."
"Marvin, you’re flattering me."
Manlin chuckled, covering her mouth. "You clearly have a better chance than I do."
Marvin didn’t respond, instead gesturing to Zelir’s leg.
"He got hurt during a mission. Help him out, would you? It’s painful just to watch him hobble around."
With that, Marvin nodded to them and turned to leave the room.
"Have a seat over there," Manlin offered.
Zelir used his crutch to walk over to the sofa on one side of the room and sat down.
Following Manlin’s instructions, he then rested his injured leg on a low stool, rolled up his pant leg, and revealed the wound, which was wrapped in layers of gauze.
Manlin gently unwrapped the gauze. When she saw the mangled flesh of Zelir’s wound, her eyes narrowed slightly.
"Marvin said you were injured during a mission."
Manlin’s fingers brushed lightly over the wound. A warm, gentle energy flowed from them, significantly easing the pain. "Are you an Adventurer?"
"Yes."
"A brave little one, aren’t you? I wasn’t nearly as courageous at your age," Manlin said with a smile.
Zelir suddenly recalled that Marvin hadn’t mentioned Manlin’s surname when he introduced her.
’Could it be that Manlin is a commoner, just like me?’
"Relax. The healing is about to begin."
Zelir immediately took a deep breath to steady himself.
Manlin raised her hands, hovering them over Zelir’s wound.
She wasn’t using a Magic Staff. She simply closed her eyes, her long lashes casting a faint silhouette in the sunlight.
The atmosphere in the room suddenly changed.
Zelir could faintly sense a powerful yet restrained force spreading out, as specks of emerald fluorescence appeared around them.
As if summoned, the green lights began to swirl and flow between Manlin’s fair palms, eventually gathering into a ball of light.
Inside the ball of light, an intricate Spell Structure, so complex it was dizzying, was rapidly taking shape.
Slender threads of Magic Power intertwined and wove together, finally forming a profound Array.
It looked just like a blooming flower bud.
Zelir held his breath, his eyes fixed on the scene.
"Go," Manlin whispered softly.
She slowly pressed her hands down, and the green ball of light melted into Zelir’s wound.
An indescribable feeling of comfort instantly spread throughout his body.
Under the green light, the damaged muscle tissue of the wound began to regenerate at a rapid pace.
Broken blood vessels were gently repaired, and even the skin, catalyzed by this miraculous power, quickly healed toward the center.
The entire process lasted about a minute.
When Manlin withdrew her hands, the light gradually dissipated.
The once ghastly wound had completely vanished. In its place was smooth, new skin, without even a scar.
Zelir tried moving his leg off the stool and flexing it a little.
He didn’t feel the slightest bit of pain, as if the wound had never existed.
"It’s... it’s healed?" Zelir asked in disbelief.
"Of course."
Manlin smiled faintly. "Your injury wasn’t too severe, so it was manageable. Be more careful next time."
"What incredible Magic..." Zelir marveled.
"Want to learn?" Manlin blinked.
Although the words "Healing Skill, Analysis Progress—1%" had already appeared under his Technique Celestial Calculation, Zelir still nodded honestly.
"I do."
Manlin returned to her desk, picked up her cup of herbal tea again, and swirled it slowly, carrying herself with the air of a female professor.
"What Magic have you learned so far?"
"Um... Fireball Skill, Wind Blade Technique, Water Ball Skill, and Flame Breath Skill." Zelir casually listed a few spells from the Elemental Magic System.
"Oh? You’ve even learned the Level Three Magic, Flame Breath Skill? What’s your Casting Speed?" Manlin asked with some surprise.
"About seven seconds," Zelir answered honestly.
"No wonder Marvin thinks so highly of you."
Manlin said, "How did it feel learning those Magic skills? Did you feel any blockage?" freeωebnovēl.c૦m
"It felt pretty good," Zelir said.
"Is that so."
Manlin let out a soft laugh, but her smile held a hint of regret. "In that case, you’ll probably have a very hard time learning Empowerment Magic."
Zelir froze, a confused look on his face.
"Huh?"
’My progress with Magic has been good, so shouldn’t I be able to master new Magic even better? Why would she say it’s difficult?’
"Every Mage’s brain can only adapt to certain types of Spell Structures. This is almost predetermined from birth."
Seeing Zelir’s confused expression, Manlin explained.
"Since you have a higher affinity for Elemental Magic, your affinity for Magic from other factions will definitely be lower. That’s a certainty."
"Even if I placed a Scroll of Empowerment Magic in front of you, you wouldn’t be able to learn it. Your brain would naturally reject the Spell Structure of the Empowerment Magic System. The moment your Spiritual Power tried to permeate it, it would be repelled."
’Repelled the moment it tries to permeate...?’
Zelir thought carefully about what Manlin said and proposed his own theory.
"So, Instructor Manlin, does that mean an Elemental Mage can’t learn Empowerment Magic not because they’re incapable, but because they can’t even perceive its Spell Structure?"
"That’s right. The only way for a Mage to learn Magic is through a Magic Scroll. They must use their Spiritual Power to transfer the Spell Structure engraved on it into their own mind," Manlin began.
"But as I just said, when an Elemental Mage tries to learn Empowerment Magic, their brain instinctively rejects it the moment their Spiritual Power makes contact with the Scroll’s contents. They can’t even see the Spell Structure, so how could they possibly learn the Magic?"
After hearing Manlin’s explanation, a bold theory suddenly formed in Zelir’s mind.
’When a typical Mage encounters a Magic Faction they aren’t skilled in, their brain automatically rejects it, making it impossible to learn.’
’But after Technique Celestial Calculation finishes analyzing a Magic, it directly reproduces the complete Spell Structure in my mind, skipping the Scroll step entirely.’
’Just like with the Healing Skill, which is being analyzed right now.’
’Doesn’t that mean I can ignore this mechanism and use Magic from any faction?’
’A Full Element Mage!’
Zelir suppressed his excitement and continued speaking.
"But Instructor Manlin, besides Elemental Magic, I’ve also learned Arcane Magic, and I didn’t notice any blockage."
"That just proves you have decent talent. Many Mages can only master a single faction, but some can master two. For instance, like you, they can learn from both the Elemental and Arcane Magic Systems," Manlin said.
"Ultimately, however, it’s because the Magic of these two factions isn’t that different."
"Whether it’s the Elemental or Arcane Magic System, both involve drawing on Magic Power to affect the external world. To a certain extent, they are interchangeable."
"But the Empowerment Magic System is different. It’s naturally incompatible with the Elemental and Arcane Magic Systems. The core of Empowerment Magic is to permeate a living being’s internal systems with Magic Power and act upon them."
"It can rapidly heal injuries, and it can also provide allies with boosts to their Power, speed, Physical Strength, and even Magic Power."
"Its essence is guidance, not domination."
"This characteristic, which is completely different from other types of Magic, dictates that it’s extremely difficult for Elemental and Arcane Mages to learn Empowerment Magic. Very few people can do it."
"And even if they do learn it, they can only master Low-Level Empowerment Magic, and casting it is quite difficult."
"By the same token, Empowerment Mages can’t learn High-Level Magic from other factions. Even some Low-Level Magic is a great struggle for them." frёeweɓηovel.coɱ
Manlin waved her hand lightly, and a green light danced on her fingertips.
"Take me, for example. The most I can manage is a Level Two Magic Fireball Skill. As for the Level Three Magic, Flame Breath Skill, I can’t cast it at all."
"That’s because every time I try to examine a Flame Breath Skill Magic Scroll, my brain automatically rejects it, and I can’t see the Spell Structure inside."
"Or take Marvin, for another example. He’s an Upper Level Arcane Mage who can cast up to Level Seven Arcane Magic that can change the very weather... sounds impressive, right? But even he can’t learn the Healing Skill I just used."
