Chapter 306: A FABRICATED STORY
GONG YOOL wasn’t surprised when the big shots around him looked at him as if he had gone crazy.
Except for Song Moonho, of course.
That ahjussi acts like he knows everything about me.
"As you already know, the System is planning to reset the world," Gong Yool started his explanation. "But once the world gets reset, we will all lose our memories. Hence, the history will literally repeat itself. The System is sending me to another world to protect my memories."
"To another world?" Jang Semi asked. "Yool-ssi, don’t trust the System too much. Do you know what kind of world it would send you to?"
"Apparently, it’s a world where dungeons don’t exist," Gong Yool said. "But since it’s a world where dungeons don’t exist, the god or gods overseeing that world might try to reject me for being an "alien." Hence, there’s no guarantee that I might keep my memories intact once I get there. So, I’m planning to write a novel "inspired" by this world."
"A novel," Yeon Soobin said, raising an eyebrow. "Why a novel that revolves around Graham and Ahn Kisoo, though?"
Gong Yool could detect the bitterness in Yeon Soobin’s voice.
To be fair, I can’t blame him for feeling bitter towards a friend who abandoned this world to save himself and his lover.
Dammit.
Even I still feel quite bitter.
"The System said that the people controlled by the Anti-System Virus might get awakened if someone who has the full knowledge of the previous world appears," Gong Yool explained. "That’s why the moment I get sent to the other world, the System will make it so my brain would think that this world is a world that I’ve read in a novel. Making Hwang Yejun and Chu Wonhee the main characters might trigger my own memories, so I should make someone else the protagonist."
"Why does it have to be Graham?" Song Moonho asked, smiling. "Why don’t you make me the protagonist, Yool-ssi?"
"I don’t know you that much, Ahjussi."
"And you know Graham that much?"
Gong Yool glared at Song Moonho who just smiled and shrugged his shoulders.
This Ahjussi really exists to annoy me, huh?
"You’re confusing me, Gong Yool," Hwang Yejun said sternly. "You’ll be sent to the other world with your memories altered, and you’ll wake up there thinking that this world is just a world from a novel you’ve read. So, how will that help us remember this world? The entire point of keeping your memories intact is for us to know who the enemies are in advance, then get rid of them before they gain more power."
As expected of the strongest Hunter in the world.
Hwang Yejun-ssi really asks the right questions at the right time.
"The System will bring me back in this world after Chu Wonhee meets Lee Seodam," Gong Yool said. "Well, that’s the plan."
To be honest, even the System sounded unsure of its own plan.
But we have no choice since that’s the only plausible plan we could come up with.
"Can’t the System do it earlier?" Hwang Yejun asked. "We should kill that bastard the soonest."
"I agree with you, sir," Gong Yool said while nodding firmly. "However, the System said if there’s no threat yet in this world, then its ability won’t get activated. Hence, Chu Wonhee and Lee Seodam have to meet first. Their fates must be connected as the savior of the previous world and the one who ended it, respectively."
Hwang Yejun clicked his tongue, obviously annoyed.
Thankfully, the strongest Hunter in the world shut his mouth.
It’s scary when Hwang Yejun-ssi speaks.
"So, once the System summoned you back to this world, would you remember the first timeline?" Yeon Soobin asked, raising an eyebrow at him. "Would you remember that the "novel" that you’ve read wasn’t just a novel?"
"I would hope so, sir," Gong Yool answered politely. "I mean, that’s the entire point of me getting sent to the other world, right?"
But, alas.
Gong Yool would later find out that this plan failed.
I didn’t remember a damn thing about the previous world when I needed those memories the most!

"WHAT are you going to do now, Hwang Yejun?"
Yejun heard what Bitna said, but he didn’t answer right away.
His eyes remained glued to the two new graves on either side of Wonhee’s tombstone.
Yeon Soobin.
Jang Semi.
Yejun had to kill the two for the sake of his mission.
To be precise, he had to harvest the Cores of the two of the strongest Hunters left in that godforsaken world.
"Hwang Yejun, are you ignoring me?"
"I’m going to climb Mount Everest."
"Excuse me?"
"That’s going to be my graveyard."
A few weeks after Yejun awakened as a natural S-Class Hunter, the damned System sent him to Nepal without proper supplies.
Heck, he was only in his P.E uniform when that happened.
The cold didn’t bother him since he was a master of both water and ice elements.
However, he had to fight for his life while climbing the mountain because the System also sent monsters his way.
It was worth it, though.
<Flight Skill>.
<Let’s Make Bingsu and Weapons Skill>.
<Heavyweight Champion>.
He got those three L-Grade skills from successfully climbing Mount Everest.
Hence, that place was memorable to him.
It’s a fitting place to die.
"For someone who’s about to die, you look excited," Bitna commented, crossing her arms over her chest. "Are you going to follow Wony?"
Yejun just smirked, and then he finally lifted his head to meet Bitna’s curious gaze. "Broccoli, I leave this world to you. Once Song Moonho and I are gone, Hamin will become the strongest Hunter. With you as his Guide, I’m sure the two of you do what Chu Wonhee and I failed to accomplish."
"You’re saying nice things for once. So, you’re really about to die, huh?"
Yejun just shrugged.
"Hwang Yejun, you and Wony didn’t fail— you did your best to extend this dying world’s life," Bitna said in a serious tone. "I’ll make sure Hamin and I will continue what you’ve started. In return, please tell Wony to be friends with me again in the next timeline."
"If I remember."
"Yah."
"Once the world resets, I’ll find Chu Wonhee and make her completely mine right away," Hwang Yejun said, smirking. "I’ll treat everyone like a love rival— including a broccoli like you."

THE ONLY person who could kill Hwang Yejun was Hwang Yejun.
I wouldn’t call this suicide, though.
It was a suicidal mission, but he wasn’t killing himself because he was tired of living. Well, it wasn’t like he was determined to live either.
He just wanted to live a bit longer to kill Lee Seodam.
But, unfortunately, he didn’t have time to look for that cockroach-like herbivore.
Oh, well.
I’ll just find that bastard after the world resets and kill him in the most painful way possible.
For now...
Yejun stabbed himself in the chest with his own hand.
It should be painful.
But, after he lost Wonhee, he couldn’t feel any pain anymore— be it emotional or physical.
Hence, he casually ripped his heart out of his chest without so much as a flinch.
His "heart-less" body was being kept alive by his Mana, so he remained standing and breathing even though his beating heart was in his hand literally.
There you are.
Yejun wasn’t aiming for his heart— he was aiming for the Core embedded in the center.
It was the Core of the strongest Hunter in the world.
Hence, it should suffice.
Yejun then snapped his fingers.
His gigantic Inventory opened up above him— dropping all the Cores that he had stolen from all the powerful Hunters that he killed in the past.
Yeon Soobin and Jang Semi’s Cores were included, of course. freēwebnovel.com
It’s time for the finale.
Yejun then crushed his own Core.
As soon as he did, the broken pieces of his Core released an aura that was hot enough to slowly melt his body.
The good news was it was hot enough to melt all the Cores pouring down from the "sky."
This should be enough to fill this world with enough Mana to drive away those stupid dungeon monsters.
And that was the purpose of Hwang Yejun’s "noble sacrifice."
Wonhee-ya, wait for me— I’ll join you soon.
