Chapter 93: Chapter 93: We’re Honest Businessmen
Hearing her words, Xiong Jie let out a disdainful snort.
Only those who have experienced a dungeon know that all the theories and tutorials are just empty talk.
When you’re facing an evil spirit, no matter how strong your nerves, you can’t help but tremble.
The pressure that evil spirit carries will awaken the deepest fear in your heart.
He had seen a Lord before, though Xiong Jie had never actually seen what his master looked like—that figure was always shrouded in mist.
But it was precisely because he’d seen it that Xiong Jie knew: the fear inside wasn’t triggered by the evil spirit’s appearance.
That was the kind of fear that came from facing a high-tier evil spirit, impossible to suppress.
"Let’s think a bit more about joining Feihu." Xiong Jie wasn’t planning to refuse. Before entering Feihu, he’d take Jiang Che to check out the perks and benefits from other organizations.
"What about you?" Feihu looked at Jiang Che.
"I’m following Uncle Xiong." Jiang Che replied seriously. He was out here working with Uncle Xiong; there was no way he’d just think he could fly on his own before learning anything.
"You don’t trust me, but you trust him? You think he won’t screw you over?" Feihu almost laughed in exasperation. She was putting her all into looking out for him, and it still couldn’t compete with the scheming old fox Xiong Jie?
"You’re a good person, Uncle Xiong is a good person too."
Feihu really did almost laugh with frustration; she felt like the ’good person card’ she’d just been handed meant something very different from Xiong Jie’s ’good person card.’
Xiong Jie laughed too. No matter how Jiang Che saw him, to have Feihu the young lady and himself both get handed the same kind of good person card—
That was already enough to make his day.
"Before we go, let’s handle something first." Xiong Jie grabbed Jiang Che and familiarly headed to the room next door. "You all go ahead, once we’ve made up our minds, we’ll get in touch. I have your contact info."
Xiong Jie saw Feihu and the others trying to follow, and quickly waved them off.
Watching the two figures turn into the small building next door, Fanben sidled up to Feihu, "Boss, he’s got no combat experience—want me to help you drag him back home?"
"For people with this kind of mental illness, if you treat him nicely later, he’ll be able to feel how good you are to him." Fanben was still eyeing his squad captain post.
"Tie him up? Are you doing it, or am I?" Feihu shot him a look. "I’m a Tier Zero normal person. You want to go tie him up?"
"Tier Five Peak—even if it’s just brute force, none of you could handle him, not to mention he has two skills."
"No combat experience means he won’t know how to hold back. Accidentally being killed by him wouldn’t even be that surprising." Feihu looked at Fanben in annoyance and waved her hand. Maybe from the moment he started scheming against Jiang Che and the others, Feihu had left a bad impression on them.
"You go tie him up. If you can tie up Jiang Che, I’ll give you the squad leader post." Feihu said, utterly unimpressed.
As soon as she said it, Fanben promptly shut up.
If he really had to go up against someone at Tier Five Peak, there was no way he’d win.
Watching the two of them disappear, Feihu let out a sigh. "Didn’t the info before we came here say, Xiong Jie came here because his family set him up? Go find those files, let’s show a little sincerity."
There’s still no separate currency dedicated to escapees, and since people’s needs are mostly basic supplies, a lot of survivors who gain power just want money and pleasure instead.
Money definitely can buy off some lower-tier escapees, get them to protect you.
Escapees below Tier Two don’t know about the magnetic field energy before a dungeon opens. Xiong Jie got sent into Red Pearl Mental Hospital by his Tier Two cousin, under the pretense of caring for him, but actually planning behind his back.
Now that Xiong Jie made it out alive, and even hit Tier Two Peak, the most anxious person right now must be the family member who planned against him.
"Find the files. If you can, tie that guy up and deliver him to Xiong." Feihu kept sighing. Guys like Xiong Jie, when they have a weakness, you can control them.
It’s not a bad thing to have desires and ambitions. Only by knowing his wants and ambitions can you set a trap he’ll willingly step into.
But with Jiang Che... she really had no idea what to do.
This psycho barely seems to have any wants at all—not for money, not for power.
He even waves her off, saying he has a wife already...
And this so-called wife... was she really about to fight with a dead woman over a man?
"Take care of Xiong Jie’s side first. As for Jiang Che..." She paused for a second. "If I can’t pull him in, chances are the other organizations can’t, either."
"Keep an eye out in case the other groups, annoyed they can’t recruit him, try to get rid of Jiang Che."
"When the time comes, we’ll jump in and save him."
If the honey trap doesn’t work, then she could only rely on the debt of gratitude strategy!
Jiang Che had no idea what they were thinking. He just followed Xiong Jie into Anding District. This place was a lavishly decorated hall. Last time he was here he was in a rush, so this was his first time actually taking in the surroundings.
Compared to the peeling, gray walls of the wards, here even the hard-to-clean chandeliers overhead didn’t have a speck of dust.
"These are everyone’s display pieces. After staying in a mental hospital so long, people have nothing better to do." He pointed at a display case full of jewelry. Gold and silver flashed in the light, radiant and eye-catching.
Xiong Jie casually grabbed a bag and glanced quizzically at a few smashed glass cases. The things inside were gone, too.
He remembered what used to be here—a sapphire necklace, not all that valuable.
But he didn’t really care. There was so much stuff here. One missing item wasn’t a big deal. He didn’t care.
"You followed me here because you wanted to make money, right? Well, this is step one."
"Bag everything up." Xiong Jie said, then smashed his fist right into the glass case.
He just wanted to see exactly how strong Tier Two Peak was.
Craack—
The sound of shattering glass echoed in his ear. He looked at the skin on the back of his hand—no sign of redness. He felt the glass scrape him, but when he looked, all he saw was a pale white mark on his skin.
"So this is how we make money now?" Jiang Che looked at Xiong Jie with excitement. Was this how Uncle Xiong had always made money?
Making money was this easy?!
If he’d known, he would have smashed more before entering the dungeon last time.
Xiong Jie’s face didn’t change at all. "That’s not how we make money. We’re legitimate businessmen. We have proper ways to make a living."
He looked at Jiang Che, who was visibly excited. This kid really was ready to go out and earn a living?
"Because all this stuff here, it’s ownerless."
"Out there though—"
"Out there, that stuff does have owners. Wait until the owners are gone, then it’s just like here and you can take it." Xiong Jie kept a straight face. In this madness, a lot of the old rules had already collapsed.
"Can’t I take it while it’s still owned?" He remembered taking something before going into the dungeon last time, and nobody stopped him—the smashed display case was actually his handiwork back then.
"If they’re still around..." Xiong Jie’s expression grew a little strange, "You can... if you can beat them, then it’s all ownerless."
