Chapter 109: Chapter 109: We’re Not Compatible
"Take me with you, as long as I can gain power, I’ll do anything!" Zhou Ang stared fixedly at Jiang Che. He’d seen plenty of people who had leveled up, but never anyone as strong as Jiang Che.
He could drag an entire building underground, and it only took him a moment.
"Dad, he’s sincere." Tuantuan could sense human emotions, and could judge truth from those feelings.
Jiang Che was moved. He saw a reflection of himself in Zhou Ang.
Because Zhou Ang’s desire to protect his family was exactly the same as his own.
"I don’t know how to clear other dungeons either." Jiang Che shook his head. "But if I go to a dungeon next time, I can bring you along."
"I’ll try my best to keep you safe."
Xiong Jie stood by Jiang Che’s side, his actions paused.
No one noticed Jiang Che’s mention of ’other’ dungeons, except him.
It meant that Jiang Che had no way to survive in those other dungeons either.
Tuantuan stared at Xiong Jie, feeling that Uncle Xiong’s emotional state was strange. He seemed to be constantly thinking, and in that thinking, there was even a trace of fear.
"Thank you. Just let me follow you. If we encounter danger that can’t be resisted, you can just leave me behind. I won’t blame you," Zhou Ang looked gratefully at Jiang Che.
The underground room wasn’t large, and the air was slowly thinning, but luckily there weren’t many people inside, so the oxygen would last a while.
Jiang Che disappeared for a while, going up to the surface to check things out.
After confirming the surface was safe, he returned underground.
The vanished building rose up from the ground once again.
Zhou Ang saw it rise with his own eyes and felt even more determined to follow Jiang Che.
Xiong Jie glanced at Zhou Ang furtively, but didn’t approach him.
Once they saw sunlight again, Zhou Ang’s mother collapsed on the ground and sobbed uncontrollably.
Using his abilities twice in a row, Jiang Che felt drained. He sat randomly on a roadside flower bed, gasping for air.
"Was it you who controlled the disappearance of that building just now?" A voice sounded from above Jiang Che’s head.
Jiang Che looked up and saw a woman in a tight black uniform standing before him.
"Yeah." He waved his hand weakly, unwilling to speak.
This matter was just too exhausting.
"I want to invite you to join my squad. Do you want to?" The woman didn’t mince words, directly stating her intentions.
Tuantuan was watching from upstairs, as Zhou Ang’s mother was checking her body.
She kept saying she was fine, but Zhou Ang’s mother wouldn’t believe it, worried the little girl might have internal injuries.
"Where’s your mother?" Seeing Tuantuan gaze down below, Zhou Ang’s mother followed her line of sight.
"Mom’s busy and couldn’t come." Tuantuan replied absentmindedly, still watching below. She could tell Zhou Ang’s mother bore no ill will, so she let her freely examine her body.
This time when they went out, they’d prepared carefully. In terms of temperature, weight and even appearance, she seemed exactly like a normal human child.
When she saw Jiang Che being approached by a pretty woman, Zhou Ang’s mother quickly smiled.
"Your dad is amazing. It’s normal for someone to like him." She pulled Tuantuan back and kept her from going down. "Be good, Auntie’s checking you over. It was really dangerous just now, if you have any injuries, it’s not good."
"No need to worry about your dad." Zhou Ang’s mother put on a nonchalant expression.
"You’re probably here to spy for your mom, right? But if you see anything, just act like you didn’t. Don’t ruin your parents’ relationship." Zhou Ang’s mother sighed. Living in this world, she knew better than anyone—an capable man never just had one woman by his side.
If you don’t know, it’s fine. But if the woman finds out, things will go to hell.
In this age, having a strong person to rely on is a blessing.
"I’m not! My dad isn’t that kind of person." Tuantuan suppressed her urge to go down.
"You’re right, there’s no way to stop these things. You just have to rely on people’s conscience." She talked to Tuantuan about all this, without any malice. "If you see anything, don’t tell your mom."
Jiang Che is amazing. Tuantuan’s mom should just stay quietly by his side.
Safety is more important than anything.
"My dad would never!" Tuantuan said, but kept her eyes fixed below.
At that moment, Jiang Che looked at the woman in black. "Sorry, I already have a team." He waved his hand.
Ever since he came out of the dungeon, everyone kept saying he was powerful, how strong he was.
Even Feihu said that since the strange things started, he was the only one at this starting tier.
Now he’s sort of cooperating with Feihu, and Uncle Xiong is with him too. If they enter a dungeon again, Feihu might have a way to keep himself safe, and Jiang Che has to be responsible for Uncle Xiong’s safety.
"You already have a team?" Hearing that, the woman in black frowned.
"How about this—I can introduce my squad’s situation, and you can decide if we’re a better fit." She looked at Jiang Che unwilling to let him go.
She had seen his abilities clear as day. With him on the squad, they might just have a shot at an A-level dungeon.
If they can’t win, they can escape.
For the dungeon exit, just burrow underground and sneak away.
"Alright, go ahead," Jiang Che said helplessly since she blocked his path.
"Let me introduce myself first. My name is Xiahou Zhi, I’m the squad leader, Tier Four Initial Stage. I currently have two skills, but sorry, I can’t say what they are."
"If you join, I can make you vice-captain, and share all our members’ profiles with you."
"Vice-captain?" Jiang Che looked at her confused.
He wasn’t stupid—his tier was higher than hers, so why be the vice-captain?
"Yes, it’s just a title. I can also follow your orders, as long as your suggestions are reasonable."
"Our squad is quite democratic—we listen to everyone’s advice in the dungeon and pick whatever is most beneficial."
"Of course, if opinions differ, we follow the captain or vice-captain’s commands." Xiahou Zhi figured Jiang Che refused because he didn’t want to take orders from others.
"That’s not it." Jiang Che quickly waved his hand, "I already have a team."
Before, Feihu came to him with his own agenda. Now, another woman approaches him—he has to nip it in the bud.
Uncle Xiong was right, whatever their motives are, guys need to learn to protect themselves out in the world.
