I really did get so much. My first Legendary skill too.

It made his body feel at least 10x stronger. He could probably crush a boulder with just his finger, and his strength stat didn’t necessarily increase.

There’s definitely some other metrics at play. Either way, the others are just as good. Especially Mind Fortress (Epic) and Combat Precognition (Epic).

Mind Fortress (Epic) made it so he could read surface intentions of others while making his own mind completely unreadable and resistant to mental influence.

As for Combat Precognition (Epic), it was a bit more straightforward. It let him accurately predict enemy movements and attacks before they happen.

To that end, he checked his status screen as well. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

Nodding at all the progress he had made, he finally turned to the person who just entered.

"I’m the masseuse. You’re a high ranking officer, I take it?"

She tilted her head. "Obviously. You don’t all these medals? Tsk. What else should I expect from a back-end massage parlor. Regardless, I’m not here to dilly dally."

With that, she took off her coat of valor, and hopped onto the table. She took off her shoes, her socks, and with as minimal amount of clothing she felt comfortable with, she laid down on the table.

"Don’t go anywhere near my ass."

Nacho stared at the back of her head. Her hair was pulled into a tight bun, dark brown with streaks of silver running through it. Probably not from age, she seemed. Definitely From stress.

"Wouldn’t dream of it," he said, cracking his knuckles. He planned on taking her a lot more seriously than the others.

Her arms were crossed under her chin, and even lying face down, her posture screamed authority. There were scars ran along both forearms, old ones, faded white against tanned skin. This wasn’t some merchant’s wife or a bored noblewoman.

He activated Mind Fortress and caught the surface layer of her thoughts.

She was suspicious, but also exhausted. There was also a dull ache in her lower back that she’d been ignoring for what seemed like months. And underneath all of that, a rigid wall of discipline so thick it practically had its own fortifications.

She’s definitely interesting.

"What’s your name?" he asked, pressing his thumbs into the base of her neck.

"Captain Rhea Valdross. Third Legion, Ironcrest Division."

"Cool. I’m Nacho. Masseuse."

She snorted into the table. "What kind of name is Nacho?"

"The kind my parents gave me. You can ask them one day if you ever pass by them."

"I don’t care."

"Most people don’t. That’s fine. I’ve made peace with it."

He worked his thumbs along the ridge of her trapezius muscles. They were bunched into knots so tight they felt like river stones buried under skin. She didn’t flinch. Didn’t make a sound. Her jaw tightened, and that was it.

"You’ve got the worst knots I’ve seen all day," he said, still not really sure what knots were, only that they sounded professional.

"I didn’t ask for commentary."

Nacho pouted a little. "You’re getting it anyway. Comes with the service. Free of charge."

She exhaled hard through her nose. He could feel the irritation radiating off her like heat from a forge. But she didn’t get up.

He extended his tentacle beneath the table, keeping it out of sight. It snaked along the floor, slow and patient. He’d learned by now that the stubborn ones needed a different approach. You couldn’t just dive in. They’d buck you off like an unbroken horse.

Instead, he focused on the massage. His fingers dug into the meat of her shoulders, finding each knot and dismantling it with precise, rolling pressure. She was wound so tight that when the first major knot released, her whole body jerked. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

"The hell was that?"

I got no idea. Nacho nodded and came up with something.

"That’s me being a magician. Your body relaxed, and it seems like it’s been a while."

"Shut up and keep going."

He kept going. His hands moved down her spine, working each vertebra, loosening the muscles on either side. The undershirt was thin enough that he could feel every ridge, every point of tension. Her breathing changed. It went from shallow, controlled military breathing to something slower. A little deeper.

The tentacle crept up one of the table legs.

"So what brings a Third Legion captain to a back-end massage parlor?" he asked.

"A store clerk recommended it." She snarled. "Said some masked freak was doing miracles with his hands."

"Masked freak?"

Ouch? I could’ve sworn I chose a cute mask.

"That’s a new one. Usually they just call me the tentacle guy."

"The what?"

"Hmm? Nothing."

Nacho chuckled.

I was curious if anyone actually called me that. Looks like I’m safe.

"It’s an Inside joke, now relax. I’m going to start for real."
