Chapter 456: Chapter 83: The Matter is Over, Master of Biyou Palace, Houtu Enters the Fray (2)
"Now, are the three of you satisfied?"
Houtu’s face held a hint of fury:
"Not satisfied. Do you really think..."
Her voice stopped abruptly.
Supreme’s expression turned frigid. With a flicker, he appeared before the three Enlightened Ones:
"I will ask one more time. Are the three of you satisfied?"
The words had barely left his mouth when Douluo Palace descended. The recent actions of Primordial and Spirit Treasure had left him simmering with frustration. Even when he had lashed out to beat them, he had to hold back, unable to truly fight them.
But now, he had no such reservations. For the first time in countless years, Supreme attacked with nearly his full power. Douluo Palace descended in an instant!
BANG!!!
Houtu was sent flying. Her body exploded in mid-air as she was thrown back, Dao Fruit blood spilling everywhere. Her cold, aloof face was stained crimson, and the Six Paths of Reincarnation nearly slipped from her grasp!!
With just that one blow, a Dao Fruit wielder was on the verge of death. She had nearly fallen into the abyss of silent annihilation, fated for the same end as the Emperor Corpse!
The two Great Buddhas’ expressions changed drastically, a flicker of terror in their eyes. ’This Supreme...’
They scrambled to answer:
"Satisfied, we’re satisfied!"
"Good."
Supreme revealed a smile and slowly, leisurely turned back:
"Then why haven’t you three Fellow Daoists left? Are you perhaps at leisure and wish to play a game of Go? That can certainly be arranged."
The two Great Buddhas’ faces twitched. They silently retreated. Houtu, her Dao Foundation shattered, coughed up a mouthful of blood and dragged her dying body away. The Great Chaos fell silent once more.
Supreme strolled leisurely back toward Douluo Palace. As he was about to reach the Daoist Palace, he shot a cold sideways glance:
"There’s definitely something very wrong with you two. I’ll warn you one more time: get rid of those nefarious thoughts!"
The Blind Daoist looked bewildered:
"Supreme, I don’t understand what you mean. What nefarious thoughts? What have I done? I merely helped my martial nephew. Is that also wrong?"
The Lame Daoist nodded like a pecking chicken:
"Exactly, exactly! I tossed down Biyou Palace for our martial nephew’s good as well. It was just a matter of going with the flow... Is that wrong?"
Supreme’s face twitched violently. He stared at the two for a long moment:
"You’d better be."
He lifted his head, snorted, and strode back into Douluo Palace, not forgetting to toss one last sentence over his shoulder:
"As his martial uncles, it’s fine for you to look after Xiaoxuan. But remember, you are *only* his martial uncles!"
As he spoke, he clenched his fist, letting out a sharp crack, and slammed the great gates of Douluo Palace shut with a SLAM.
The Blind Daoist and the Lame Daoist shouted in unison:
"That is how it is, and that is how it should be!"
After they spoke, they waited for Douluo Palace to vanish into the void. The two Daoists then looked at each other and chuckled conspiratorially.
"The Three Pristine Ones are one body. A martial uncle is a master!"
Meanwhile, in the depths of the tides of Chaos.
"Supreme! Supreme!!"
Houtu shrieked as she coughed up blood. Her voice tore apart several of the nearby Great Realms, bringing an end to their civilizations, dooming their living beings, and collapsing all that was!
Amitabha Buddha soothed her in a deep voice:
"The Current World is gradually recovering, and Supreme’s power is growing stronger with it. Once the Current World is fully restored, Supreme will once again briefly surpass even those with a Perfect Dao Fruit, reaching a realm beyond imagination..."
Ancient Bodhi Buddha narrowed his eyes:
"The Three Pristine Ones are each too uniquely favored. One is invincible at the dawn of an Era, one looks down upon all at the End, and Supreme is unstoppable during both of these periods..."
He paused, let out a slow breath, and continued:
"If this continues, the Great Secret of Transcendence left by Wa Huang will surely fall into the hands of The Three Pristine Ones. There will be no point in us even competing! We might as well just hand it over!"
"Not necessarily!" Houtu, having barely pulled herself back from the brink of death, coughed up more blood and spoke, her voice weary but cold:
"Each of The Three Pristine Ones is invincible during one-third of all Years, uniquely favored by heaven. Even with the three of us allied against them, we are still far too weak!"
After a pause, she collected her thoughts and said quietly:
"Let’s proceed as we planned. The only ones who can defeat The Three Pristine Ones are The Three Pristine Ones themselves!"
"I will make a trip into the Years. You two must conceal my actions. Do not let The Three Pristine Ones notice, or else... I’m afraid I will truly have to die once!"
Although death for a Dao Fruit wielder is merely a peculiar state of existence, truly dying once is still a terrible experience.
First and foremost, during the process of death, one cannot interfere with reality, and naturally cannot plot anything. One can only watch helplessly as other Dao Fruit wielders compete for the Great Secret of Transcendence...
Furthermore, while a Dao Fruit is immortal, if one were truly struck down and eternally suppressed somewhere, it wouldn’t be much different from true death.
Ancient Bodhi Buddha nodded solemnly at this.
"Rest assured. We are skilled in such matters. It was us who veiled the heavenly secrets during the Late Shang Dynasty, scheming and plotting to make Primordial and Spirit Treasure fight each other with true killing intent, leaving one blind and the other lame... The Three Pristine Ones may be uniquely favored, but that doesn’t mean their wisdom is also supreme!"
"Good!"
Houtu gave a cold nod, wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth, and pointed a finger. An incarnation of hers immediately fled into the River of Time, heading for the Qin Dynasty.
She closed her eyes slightly:
"Profound Clarity is Supreme’s favorite, receiving his mantle. Profound Yellow is no less favored, receiving Spirit Treasure’s Biyou Palace!"
"These two... one is alive, the other is dead. The Three Pristine Ones will surely turn on each other once again."
......
「Xianyang.」
"Adoptive Grandfather, Uncle Zhong!"
Under the awestruck gazes of his court officials, the First Emperor personally came out of the city to welcome them, sending all of Xianyang City into an uproar.
This was because of Profound Yellow, but even more so because of Supreme Profound Clarity.
Even Duke Mu of Qin, who had not been seen in a long time, was present, both shocked and overjoyed, tears streaming down his old face.
In the Human World, who didn’t know of Saint Lu? Who didn’t know of Lu Zi?
The teacher of Confucius!
The First Saint of the Spring and Autumn Period!
Amidst the public clamor, Lu Xuan and Supreme Profound Clarity entered the Xianyang Imperial Palace. Lu Xuan had a plan in mind, so on the surface, he did not act particularly close with Supreme Profound Clarity.
They acted like strangers, observing formal courtesies before going their separate ways.
After exchanging a few pleasantries with Ying Zheng, Supreme Profound Clarity left with Duke Mu of Qin for Yong City, where they entered the Lu Zi Tower that had been built twenty thousand years ago.
Lu Xuan, meanwhile, went to the rear hall of the Imperial Palace, holding the Gloomy Lamp, and sat down opposite the First Emperor.
"Uncle Zhong!"
Ying Zheng bowed in salute again.
Lu Xuan nodded lightly and asked:
"How are the Heaven-Reaching Platform, the Great Wall, and the other projects coming along?"
Ying Zheng replied respectfully:
"The three hundred and sixty-five Heaven-Reaching Platforms have been forged, and the Great Wall is complete. The Apang Palace and my imperial mausoleum are still under construction, and the great tomb that Adoptive Grandfather ordered has not yet been finished."
"Speed up the progress."
Lu Xuan instructed, his expression relaxing:
"The South Pole Celestial Court has lost its Thunder Division. For a short time, it will exist in name only. This buys the Qin Dynasty another thousand years. We can take our time with the preparations."
Ying Zheng nodded, then asked with some curiosity: fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
"Uncle Zhong, were you plotting against the South Pole Celestial Court from the very beginning?"
"Not really. The Southern Celestial Court just happened to be the first to run into me. This move could have been against the Southern Celestial Court, the Northern Celestial Court, or the Eastern Celestial Court."
Lu Xuan said with a smile:
"The Southern Celestial Court has the Thunder Division, the Northern Celestial Court has the Dou Division, and the Eastern Celestial Court has the Wen Division and the Underworld Department... I could have split any of them. But a trick like that can only be used once."
As he spoke, his expression grew solemn, as if he were discussing matters with Ying Zheng, but also as if he were speaking to himself, organizing his own thoughts:
"The Immortal Mother was too decisive. She expelled every immortal from the Shangqing Lineage. It will be difficult to try and splinter the Celestial Courts again."
"And if I want to attain Upper Grade Immortal status, I need to create a great tide that will engulf the three realms of Heaven, Earth, and the Human World."
"The Human World aside, of the Five Directions Celestial Court in the heavens, the Western Celestial Court is gone and the Southern Celestial Court is fractured. I still need to extend this momentum to the Eastern, Northern, and Central Celestial Courts..."
"The most troublesome part is that the myriad immortals in Biyou Palace have lost their celestial posts. Although they have the protection of Biyou Palace, they cannot leave it. They are trapped inside. It’s fine for a short while, but if it goes on for too long, their existence will be worse than death."
Saying this, Lu Xuan heaved a deep sigh and rubbed his brow.
Before Ying Zheng could speak, the Ancient Daoist at his side spoke softly:
"You could speak with Tathagata Duobao. He is now the Future Buddha of Spirit Mountain. Perhaps he can ferry the myriad immortals into the Buddhist Sect, giving them each the empty titles of Arhat, Bodhisattva, or Buddha."
"That is one possible path."
Lu Xuan pondered for a moment, then said:
"But let’s not rush. I’m preparing to make a trip to the Central Celestial Court to report to the Celestial Emperor, and to visit my Emperor’s Palace. Of course, the main reason is to use the opportunity to get Yang Jian and the others out..."
The words had just left his mouth when he seemed to sense something. He, the Ancient Daoist, and Ying Zheng all snapped their heads to the side at the same time.
An illusory figure slowly solidified. It was an old woman with her head bowed.
"This lowly immortal is Underworld Meng Po."
The old woman raised her head, her expression one of utmost respect:
"By order of Emperor Fengdu, I am to invite the Profound Yellow Emperor to the Nine Nether for a discussion."
Lu Xuan’s gaze sharpened instantly. ’Emperor Fengdu would never come looking for me. At least... not like this.’
’It’s not Fengdu.’
’Who is it?’
