Chapter 341: Chapter 70: The Progress of Hu Qianqian

Wang Ping set down his fishing rod and gazed at the brilliant, captivating starlight in the sky. He took out the divination blocks he carried and cast a reading.

A Holy Trigram.

A glint flashed in Wang Ping’s eyes. Normally, a Holy Trigram meant no further divination was necessary, but at this moment, he felt compelled to cast two more.

He cast them.

All of them were Holy Trigrams!

Wang Ping broke into a satisfied smile. Yu Lian, who had been watching him perform the divination the whole time, also relaxed considerably.

Inside the main hall of the Dao Field, the Demon Race bloodline within Hu Qianqian’s body drew in the power of the starlight. Her spiritual consciousness vanished in an instant, leaving her awareness hazy. She saw countless strange, scattered fragments float through her mind.

She wanted to explore the scenes within the fragments, but a primal instinct told her to stay away from these strange memories and reclaim her spiritual consciousness as quickly as possible.

The moment this thought arose, the memory fragments vanished like sand in the wind. In the next instant, she felt the sensation of reality again. She drew a breath, and the Demon Race bloodline within her surged. She could even hear the RUSHING of her own blood.

"Mmm..."

She let out a comfortable hum, stretching lazily as if just waking up. She glanced around, habitually scratched her cheek with a claw, and then paced twice around the Magic Array Core. Seemingly remembering her situation, she quickly leaped onto the cloud bed before her to check her internal condition.

The Fake Pill inside her had solidified even more. She was still a long way from true Core Formation, but she had taken a massive step forward. This left her extremely satisfied, and she let out a series of happy yips.

Her joyful yips, however, came to an abrupt halt after just a few moments. She then sat down primly, like a proper lady. But as soon as she was seated, she felt something wasn’t right. Tilting her head, she glanced from side to side before realizing she was still in her original form. With a sway of her body, elegant starlight coiled around her, and a moment later, she had returned to her human form.

"I’m even prettier now."

Hu Qianqian took out a bronze mirror, examining her reflection from all angles. She paid special attention to her azure eyes, in whose depths stars now seemed to twinkle.

Satisfied, she continued to admire herself, then held the mirror farther away to inspect the Blue Daoist Robe she wore. After confirming everything was in order, she put the mirror away. Her body dissolved into a streak of starlight that pushed the main doors open.

It was still night outside. The sight of the wide-open sky and the boundless lake made her want to cheer instinctively. In the next instant, however, she sensed her master’s presence. She immediately landed ten zhang before him and bowed respectfully.

"Greetings, Master!"

"Mm, very good."

Wang Ping smiled, saying with satisfaction, "Your vital energy is surging, yet your mind is so tranquil. The Dao you cultivate is even more profound than my own."

Hu Qianqian was about to offer a humble reply, but Yu Lian, standing nearby, cut in. "Little Qianqian cultivates the Dao of all things. She has clawed her way up from nothing. Your Dao is different from hers, so they can’t be compared."

At that moment, Hu Xin hurried over to congratulate his master. Yu Lian watched him bow and said, "You’d better pick up the pace. If you can’t form a Fake Pill within twenty years, it’ll be nearly impossible to do so in the future."

"Thank you for your concern, Grandmaster. This disciple is prepared," Hu Xin replied, full of confidence and not at all worried about failure.

Just then, Wang Ben and Niu Qi came over. They first bowed to Wang Ping, then offered their congratulations to Hu Qianqian. It was clear they were genuinely happy for her.

"Little Qianqian, is your spiritual energy stable?" Yu Lian proposed. "If it is, how about a little sparring match?"

"I can still use some simple Magic. Please, give me your guidance, Martial Aunt," Hu Qianqian replied, eager for the challenge.

Hearing that these two powerhouses were about to duel again, the surrounding Little Demons immediately swam for the bottom of the lake as fast as they could. The resulting exodus was both spectacular and comical.

Yu Lian paid the Little Demons no mind. With a flash, she ascended into the air and reverted to her true form, with Hu Qianqian following close behind.

Wang Ping didn’t stop them. He simply sat back down in his fishing spot and fiddled with his tackle. A moment later, he cast his line and began to wait quietly for a fish to bite.

High in the sky, Yu Lian held nothing back. She immediately used Water Spirit Qi to manifest a dense barrage of corrosive water droplets. Already prepared, Hu Qianqian flickered, an oil-paper umbrella appearing above her shoulder. The space around her warped, shielding her completely from the incoming attack.

Seeing Hu Qianqian use a Magical Artifact, Yu Lian also got serious. Two golden Longswords shot out from a Sealing Array on her tail, tearing through space as they slashed toward Hu Qianqian.

Hu Qianqian didn’t dare to meet the attack head-on and flickered away to dodge. As she moved, the Spell she was forming changed. A purple barrier materialized from nothing, locking down the space around her. It was a ward created from condensed Star Power.

CLANG! CLANG!

The sound of metal clashing echoed through the sky.

Under the assault of the golden Longswords, the purple ward shattered, layer by layer, in less than two breaths. This was due to the blades’ innate metal-element properties.

By then, however, Hu Qianqian had finished casting her Magic. A blinding beam of starlight suddenly shot down from the clouds, pinning Yu Lian in its glare with nowhere to hide.

"Aah! It burns! It burns..."

Yu Lian shrieked as a layer of ice formed over her body. Then, a dense wave of Water Spirit Qi expanded outward, swallowing most of the descending starlight.

The dense Water Spirit Qi caused rain to fall from the sky, and the downpour only grew heavier!

The raindrops then condensed with incredible speed into countless icicles. The whistling chill they carried quickly reached the ground below. Wang Ping, ever-prepared, gave a light wave of his free left hand, dispelling the cold before it could touch the earth.

Assailed by the icicles, Hu Qianqian’s form flickered and dissolved, becoming one with the starlight itself and causing Yu Lian’s attack to hit nothing but air.

GURGLE!

A rumbling sound came from Yu Lian’s abdomen; she was about to activate the Water-Control Pearl within her body.

But she didn’t cast Summon Ocean. Instead, she swept her tail, and a searing gust of wind washed over the area. The ice crystals in the air instantly liquefied, then rapidly vaporized.

’She actually copied the Magic Jiangcun used in Shangjing City!’

However, her mastery of it was crude. The temperature she could control was merely a hundred degrees or so. To a cultivator of Hu Qianqian’s level, it felt like little more than a hot bath.

"What Magic is that?"

Hu Qianqian asked curiously. She didn’t sense any danger but was worried it was some kind of trick.

Yu Lian was visibly taken aback for a moment, then replied calmly, "It’s for warming up a hot spring. How about it? Feels nice, doesn’t it?"

"..."

"It is... quite comfortable..."

Hu Qianqian put away her oil-paper umbrella as she replied.

Maintaining a straight face, Yu Lian recalled her golden Longswords. She then dove into the lake below and caught some shrimp to ease the awkwardness. After gobbling down a couple of fresh shrimp, the earlier embarrassment was forgotten. She flew quickly toward Wang Ping, habitually slowing her pace as she drew near.

Hu Qianqian had already landed behind Wang Ping and was now staring dutifully at the fishhook in the water.

"Any news from the surveillance on Guanmao Daoist?"

Wang Ping asked casually.
