Chapter 130: Just this once boss....

Everyone went about their lives while looking forward to the party that evening.

Thankfully, Mia was finally able to study. She had also surprisingly received a call that morning from Chloe to ask her a few questions related to a particular subject. That had also prompted Mia to study and temporarily forget about Leo. She reminded herself that he was already a successful graduate while she was going to fail if she didn’t study hard.

Leo had been inside his room since morning. She didn’t know whether he was sleeping or working since he hadn’t come out from his room after leaving her room that morning.

She yawned widely which reminded her she hadn’t eaten anything. She was just about to leave her bed when a call came in. It was from Mira so she quickly answered it.

"Hey!" Mira said in a less cheerful voice which was unlike her.

"Hey! Why haven’t you been taking your calls? What’s wrong? You sound sick. Are you okay?" Mia asked sitting up.

"I’m fine dear. You don’t have to worry about me. I’m coming over... need to get you looking pretty for the boys." Mira said trying her best to sound excited.

Even though her parents had ruined her mood, she couldn’t just sit around and sulk all day or cancel the whole thing especially after inviting a lot of people to the party.

"Are you sure you are okay?" Mia asked curiously. She had known Mira long enough to know something was wrong with her.

"Do not worry. I am fine. Just a little sick but I’m good. Had lunch already?" Mira asked.

It was already past 4 pm and she had to start putting things in order for the party. Thankfully, the house was already organised while James and his brother Peter had gone to get drinks.

"I haven’t had anything to eat yet." Mia answered.

"Good! I’ll get something for the both of us on my way there. And you better tell me all that happened between you and Benjamin last night!"

"Such a gossip!" Mia said with a scoff making Mira laugh.

"See you soon baby girl." Mira said before hanging up.

An hour later, Mira was in Leo’s house. This time when Mia went to open the door for her, Leo didn’t come out which made her feel disappointed.

"He isn’t in? I saw his car parked outside." Mira said.

"I think he is sleeping." Mia answered.

"By this time?" Mira asked looking at her expensive wristwatch but she didn’t push further.

"What about Tara?"

Just then, Tara barked from inside Leo’s room and the door opened.

Leo came out looking as dashing as ever making Mia’s heart skip a few beats. He looked nothing like the zombie she had seen that morning.

He wore a blue hooded sweatshirt and black jeans with a sports shoe. His face was bright and dashing and she could see parts of his messy hair peeking from the hood.

"Wow! You look so handsome." Mira gasped and gaped at him admiringly.

Leo gave her a tiny smile which made Mia’s heart began to rapidly beat in her chest. ’His smile is so pretty!’ She said in her head.

He turned to look at Mia and also smiled at her casually.

"I have to run out now. Need to meet with someone."

"A lady?" Mira asked looking at him suspiciously.

He looked at Mira and then at Mia before shaking his head. "Nah! It’s a guy." He answered in amusement.

"Are you coming to the party tonight?" Mira asked. He was one of the biggest reasons why she was doing this.

"The location has been changed from Westend bar to James’ house and it’s going to be a long drive so taking the bus is going to be stressful for Mia. Or you could just drop her off for us... please..?" Mira said batting her lashes at him.

Leo looked at Mia briefly before turning to look at Mira. "Alright. I have to hurry out now so text me the location... or.." He turned to look at Mia again. "You know the place right?"

"Y-e-a." Mia finally said something for the first time.

Immediately he left, she released the breath she hadn’t realised she had been holding.

"Someone is in love." Mira said with a singsong voice.

"I wont blame you though. If I was his housemate, I would have fallen for him from the first day." Mira said as she began to head towards Mia’s room.

"Not if you had seen him the way I saw him the first time." Mia said rolling her eyes.

"Wow! You are not even denying the fact that you love him. I am surprised!" Mira gasped making Mia frown at her before taking the nylon bag from Mira.

"Stop saying nonsense! Let’s go eat." Mia said hurrying to the kitchen.

When Mira sat down, she quickly changed the topic,

"What is wrong with you?" Mia asked as she placed a bowl of water in front of Mira for her to wash her hands and eat the fried chicken she had bought them.

"Then why are you still going on with the party plans and why is it at James’?"

Mira quickly explained what had happened at his house that morning and Mia nodded in agreement. "I am glad it’s going to be there. Truthfully, I didn’t like the idea of going to Westend bar." Mia said.

"I hope you are ready for all that’s coming tonight?" Mira asked with a sly smirk.

"Truth or dares, kissing game et cetera."

Mia’s eyes bulged out.

"You are joking aren’t you?" She asked hopefully.

"I wish I was. Enough about me. Tell me about you. How did the dance go and were you able to invite Benjamin?" Mira asked.

When it was 8 pm, Jeremy knew it was time to go tell Chloe he had to leave work so he went to knock on her office door.

She had driven herself to work and asked him to go to work by himself. He guessed she was still mad at him and he didn’t think it was a good idea asking her to go to the party with him but he wanted to try anyway.

He slowly pushed the door open and saw Chloe’s head down as she was intently looking at something with a pen in her hand.

Her face was contorted in a frown and he became curious about what she was doing.

"Boss!" He called but she didn’t look at him. He called again as he approached, still nothing.

"Chloe?"

Her head snapped up and she looked at him with a frown.

"When did you get in here and why are you addressing me by my first name?"

’Just perfect!’ He thought with a sigh.

"I came in about a minute ago and I’ve been trying to get your attention but you’ve been engrossed in whatever you’ve been doing." He explained.

Thankfully, she had told her PA outside to always let Jeremy in so he had a free access into her office except whenever she was in a meeting then her PA would let Jeremy know so he wouldn’t interrupt.

"You can’t ever address me that way at the company. Ever!" She said giving him a stern look.

"Yes boss." He replied with a salute before stretching his neck to check what she was doing.

"Isn’t that out Business textbook? " He asked in surprise.

"You also read at work while I work and try to get your attention?" He asked in disbelief.

"Excuse you? When did I ever stop you from studying or ask you to get me attention?" She equally asked in disbelief.

She wished she could just go throw him inside an ocean and leave him there to drown so he would stop bothering her.

She looked at his face and saw how he was looking at her with a sad pout like she was betraying him by studying while he wasn’t.

She sighed deeply wondering why he was making her feel slightly guilty for having done nothing wrong.

"Why did you come here?" She asked closing her textbook.

"Remember I told you about going to a party tonight? It’s almost time so I have to leave." He informed her.

She frowned before looking out the window. True to his words, it was was already dark outside which surprised her.

"So are you indirectly asking me to go home now?" Chloe asked since he was supposed to drop her off.

Seeing how quiet he was and the mischievous look she was giving him, she remembered what he had said yesterday about her going with him to the party.

"You.. are joking right?" She asked.

"Please just this once Chl— boss. I promise you I’m never going to trouble you again." He pleaded.

"Do you know how much work I have to get done?" She asked raising a brow at him.

Seeing she wasn’t yelling at him like he had expected, he became more confident.

He reminded himself that he was a sweet and smooth talker and he put it into action until she sighed in defeat.

"So.. shall we?" He asked trying not to smile.

Chloe eyed him and finally stood up. He looked at her in surprise seeing how she was dressed. He had never seen her dress so casually in a jean and polo with a sneakers.

"I don’t know what you are still looking at but you better look ahead before I pluck your eyes out." She threatened as she walked past him.
