Chapter 310.2: Isn't That Your Wife?
Just then, someone’s weak voice reached them. "How did you two end up here? I see... It must be because your bloodline concentration is high enough, and this place is too close to reality. You accidentally dragged him in with you."
Han Xianyun looked over to see the fortune teller from before. Yu Xiu seemed absolutely wretched. Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth. Above all, a gaping, bloody wound lay open on his abdomen, and one could almost glimpse what lay beneath.
Yu Xiu had barely any strength left. "It’s the Executioner, Amos, a terrifying great beast of myth. Since my curse hasn’t dispersed, it has come to punish me. Its divine power is so terrifying that it could cleave a small mountain apart with a single swing of its axe."
Han Xianyun blinked and stared at Yu Xiu’s wound. If it’s that powerful, that wound seems far too light. Aren’t you pretty tough yourself?
Yu Xiu could tell Han Xianyun was skeptical, and felt a complicated knot inside. This man has a screw loose.
Still, Yu Xiu managed. "I am the condemned. I am to endure thirty-seven axe strikes, each dealing fixed damage. Only the final blow is fatal. But you two stumbled into the execution ground. This will enrage Amos. It will kill us all."
The condemned had about a thirty percent chance of dying, whereas those who wandered into the execution ground uninvited faced certain death. That was why some people used the rule maliciously, luring enemies into the execution ground to kill them.
Han Xianyun's expression shifted dramatically. He stared at the terrible beast above in pure terror. "We're done for. I haven't even gotten married yet. I don't want to die!"
Qi Yuan glanced at Han Xianyun with a small smile. "Isn't that your beloved wife right there? Just now, didn’t you say you’d take her home and marry her?"
The rooster-comb-haired man swallowed, baffled. "I..."
If it weren’t for his injuries, Yu Xiu would have given Han Xianyun a thumbs up. You are something else. That's the Executioner Amos up there.
As if on cue, Amos let out a world-shattering roar. It was as though it understood every word of their exchange.
Booom!
A devastating shockwave exploded through the space, reverberating endlessly.
Excitement lit up Qi Yuan's eyes. "This is Martial Dao!"
Right away, he could tell that it was a sonic attack, which shared the same lineage as Martial Dao.
An attack of this magnitude was nothing to Qi Yuan. However, the same couldn’t be said about the other two. The blow knocked Han Xianyun and Yu Xiu unconscious, sending them into a stupor
Amos advanced toward Qi Yuan. With every step, a heavy thud reverberated through the space.
The executioner moved like a cold, merciless soldier. It carried neither expression nor hesitation, only the drive to annihilate the enemy before it.
Qi Yuan looked up at the three-meter-tall horror and felt a grin spread across his face. "You want to duel me one-on-one?"
Amos kept advancing.
Qi Yuan glanced at the unconscious pair, growing annoyed. "This isn't fair at all. Why do I have to fight for my life while they sleep? How is that any kind of arrangement? If I kill the monster, they'll just wake up and wonder if I did it. As if anything good ever works out that neatly!"
He didn't want to do this alone. Everyone should share the burden.
Qi Yuan screamed, "Wake up!"
A peal-like thunder cracked through the space. The sound jolted Han Xianyun upright, yet he remained out cold. His hair stood on end. Yu Xiu was the same.
Qi Yuan's voice hammered against their ears again and again, hitting significantly harder than Amos's attack. Finally, after about two heartbeats, Yu Xiu and Han Xianyun opened their eyes.
"What happened? Did I pass out?" Han Xianyun appeared dazed, memories flooding back in a rush. His eyes darted open, staring at Qi Yuan. "I just dreamed of having an absolutely amazing wife!"
Yu Xiu was bewildered, feeling as though he'd slept for a very long time. Furthermore, Amos's sonic attack should have kept a person unconscious for a full day and night. Not even high-grade treasures could wake them. How were they awake?
Qi Yuan pointed ahead. "Your amazing wife is still right here,"
The moment Han Xianyun looked at the beast, the fog cleared from his still-muddled head all at once. His eyes went wide. "The dream was real!"
"Alright." Qi Yuan turned to face Amos again, clapping his hands. "We can continue now. My helpers are awake."
Three against one was more interesting.
Qi Yuan called out, "Han Xianyun, go beat your wife."
Han Xianyun's legs were shaking. He remembered vividly how one shockwave from this thing had knocked him flat. How exactly are we supposed to fight this thing?!
Yu Xiu was equally spent, his fighting capacity gone. He couldn't make sense of what was happening today. It was all too strange.
"You two are useless." Qi Yuan groaned. "I watched you two get knocked out by that howl and leave everything to me. That’s just unfair. Why should I have to risk my life while you sleep? So I woke you up, and this is the best you can do?"
Han Xianyun and Yu Xiu were baffled. I feel like that’s not the issue here.
With a sigh, Qi Yuan stepped forward, fixing his gaze on Amos. "So you don’t want to play the role of a wifebeater. Fine, I'll take one for the team and hit her for you. You stand on the sideline and cheer me on."
Yu Xiu’s eyes gleamed sharply. The Blood Compass shattered. Could it be?
Meanwhile, Han Xianyun was trembling. Too much had happened today, and his mind had simply short-circuited. He was running on pure instinct now. Still, he did not dare face that terrifying monster.
He had no choice but to steel himself and blurt out, "I'm not good at fighting, but I'm great at cheering!"
How is Qi Yuan going to fight it? He's only at the martial peak...
"Come, my sword!" Qi Yuan's shout rang out. "Die!"
The entire space was flooded with crimson light. A blood-red longsword seemed to emerge from the depths of the cosmos itself, falling into Qi Yuan's hand.
He stood there with sword in hand, his robes and sleeves fluttering. It was the image of a transcendent immortal sword fairy.
Han Xianyun's eyes went wide. "That... that... that..."
His heart surged relentlessly in recognition.
That familiar sword. That familiar radiance. It was exactly the same as in the video. It was real! The owner of that sword is actually Qi Yuan! Bro, you've been quietly cultivating immortality this whole time? Wait, an immortal cultivator entering the Martial Arts Tournament?!
"Is the video real?! You really wiped out a military camp of three thousand?!"
Before he could think further, a blaze of red light swept through the space once more.
A massive longsword slashed diagonally toward Amos. In response, the beast leaped over a hundred meters and swept its colossal axe down. That single, mighty blow could cleave a small mountain apart.
Yu Xiu was full of terror. Who could possibly stop that?
The next moment, he froze. Blood-red light blazed. Qi Yuan's sword and Amos's axe met in one collision. Yu Xiu had expected Amos to dominate, but what happened next defied every prediction.
Amos suddenly split in two, then four, then eight. The pieces multiplied, becoming finer and finer. Finally, a rain of blood mist fell from the sky. The beast fell without resistance whatsoever.
Yu Xiu was speechless with awe. "That's a god."
Only a god could wield such a staggering power and slay an executioner.
Yu Xiu finally understood why the Blood Compass had shattered. He had been trying to divine the fate of a god. The only question was, how did a god end up stranded in the mortal world? His thoughts were a jumbled mess.
Like an exiled immortal, Qi Yuan sheathed his sword, his robes settling gently around him. He looked over at Han Xianyun, voice clear and distant. "Han Xianyun. Your wife just bled out."
Han Xianyun was at a loss for words.
