Chapter 494: Chapter 280: The Valkyrie of Radiant Space
"Subspace has no concept of up, down, left, or right. It is merely a unique point, one containing no matter, only various energies."
"And this energy is mostly chaotic energy. When it radiates into our world, it materializes as all sorts of evil."
"To be specific, it’s the energy of tyranny, conspiracy, plague, disease, and depravity."
"This radiation from subspace can create many evil species, and even Evil Gods."
"They all commit heinous acts, upholding the intrinsic nature of chaotic power. In turn, their evil actions feed more chaos and chaotic energy back into subspace, creating a vicious cycle." frёeωebɳovel.com
"The Radiant Society, on the other hand, is a self-organized group created to fight against the Power of Chaos."
"Of course, none of us are saints. We don’t fight for glory’s sake."
"Our reason for fighting is this: when we eliminate the evil forces from subspace, our own power increases. It’s a type of energetic reaction. Light and order versus chaos are two irreconcilable forces; destroying one will strengthen the other."
"Therefore, driving out the Power of Chaos is our mission and our path to personal growth. That is why the Radiant Society was formed."
Fang Zhen felt energized by her words.
He suddenly realized the Society had at least two distinct features. First, as she’d said, its members could travel between worlds. Second, they always fought against evil forces, and killing those forces allowed them to grow stronger.
He was suddenly struck by a thought. ’This pattern... it’s just like my Dungeon Life Game.’
His Dungeon Life Game also let him travel between worlds, and most of its quests involved killing evil, chaotic entities to restore order to those worlds.
Plus, he received Merit Points every time he completed one of those quests. In a sense, that was also a way to increase his own power.
Although these thoughts ran through Fang Zhen’s mind, he didn’t voice them.
He put on a look of sudden realization, which, in truth, reflected how he genuinely felt.
A thought suddenly sparked in his mind, and he remembered the friend who had given him the computer with the Dungeon Life game.
Fang Zhen asked Dale, "Do you know a person named Xiao Yi?"
"Xiao Yi?"
Dale thought for a moment and said, "I’ve never heard of him. At least, no one I know goes by that name. I don’t know if he might be using an alias."
"I’m not one of the founding members of the Radiant Society, either. I came here by chance. I haven’t been here very long, only twenty or thirty years, so I don’t know that many people."
Hearing this, Fang Zhen realized Dale seemed to have let her age slip.
Based on her voice, she sounded like she was in her late twenties, thirty at the absolute most. It was the voice of a mature, sophisticated woman—very pleasant to the ear.
But based on what she’d just said, her actual age made her more of an ’auntie’ figure.
’Of course, I’m not going to say that out loud.’
Fang Zhen thought for a moment, then continued, "Then do you know Anlon Lie Feng?"
"Anlon?"
"Among the Radiant Society members I know, there is indeed a person named Anlon. That man is a love-struck fool. He’s not young, but he’s still all about romance, always thinking about his lover, and doesn’t care much for grander things."
"I don’t really like him, actually. For a man, he’s far too preoccupied with romance. I find it dull. He’s also rather naive. I’m not sure if we’re talking about the same person," Dale said.
Fang Zhen raised an eyebrow.
’The Anlon Dale is describing sounds exactly like Anlon Lie Feng.’
’The naming conventions in the Crystal Bone Realm are a bit odd. They always add a clan name like ’Lie Feng’ or ’Flying Bird’ after the given name, so Anlon would be his personal name.’
’Anlon Lie Feng seemed like he might be one of those reincarnated types, and the personality fit. The man was a true romantic, and quite naive, which is why he was taken out by the Thirteen Families.’
From Dale’s description, it sounded like Anlon and Anlon Lie Feng were one and the same.
Fang Zhen thought for a bit, then recalled another name. He asked, "Have you ever heard of Augustus?"
’Back in the Zambein Kingdom, I suspected that Augustus might have ’ascended.’ Otherwise, there’d be no reason for him to abandon his wealth, glory, and title as Duke. If he were just roaming the Zambein World, he’d rarely encounter anyone stronger than him. Wandering would be pointless. Ascension was the only explanation that made sense. Especially now that I know about the Radiant Society.’
"You mean Sword Saint Augustus?"
"Heh. I know the guy. He loves to show off in front of people. A total showman."
"I’ve met him a few times in the Radiant Society, and we even worked together once."
"That guy must be almost two hundred years old, or maybe even older, but he’s still so annoying. He’s such an actor."
"I’ve always wanted to fight him, teach him a lesson and take him down a peg, but I’ve never gotten the chance."
"Augustus calls himself the Sword Saint. I’ve always wanted to test his Swordsmanship and see what level he’s really at," Dale said.
A thought struck Fang Zhen.
’I’m starting to get a good read on this Dale character.’
’Dale called herself a Valkyrie, and she was clearly competitive and aggressive. She was more eager to prove her strength than many men, never willing to back down, and had strong opinions about everyone.’
’Of course, this Dale no longer had the means to best anyone. Her physical body was destroyed, leaving only a gem containing her soul.’
’From what Dale said, I can confirm it: Sword Saint Augustus is almost certainly the one from the Zambein Kingdom. It’s a rare name.’
’So Augustus really did ascend?’
’And it sounds like he’s doing pretty well for himself, too.’
"I’ve said so much. You should at least tell me how you got here, right?" Dale asked.
Her tone always seemed to imply a sense of imbalance, a desire to not come out on the losing end.
"I accidentally obtained a Star Stone, which absorbed some matter from outside, and then somehow I ended up here," Fang Zhen said.
He also wanted to understand what had happened, so he didn’t hold back too many details.
Dale didn’t think much of it and said, "Oh, that’s quite typical. The Radiant Space seems to constantly emit matter embedded with spatial coordinates, which then pulls suitable people into this space."
"Moreover, anyone who can obtain the coordinates to the Radiant Space and enter it must have some real skill. They can also be considered, more or less, on the side of the light," Dale said.
"What should I call you?" Dale finally remembered to ask his name.
"You can just call me Young Hero Fang," Fang Zhen said.
’I have to be cautious.’
’I don’t know Dale well. She calls herself a Valkyrie, but what if she’s holding something back? After all, I don’t know enough about soul-related matters. I can’t risk falling into a trap, like getting cursed for revealing my true name.’
"Young Hero Fang? A strange name. Don’t be so guarded. I want to discuss a deal with you," Dale said.
"What kind of deal?" Fang Zhen asked.
"As you can see, my body has been destroyed. Only my soul remains within this gem," Dale said with a sigh.
"I want to obtain a new body, one that can bear my Soul Power, and preferably one with the potential to be perfectly trained in martial arts."
"Of course, I don’t want to obtain it through despicable means, nor do I want to forcibly occupy someone else’s body. That would be a moral failing I cannot accept."
"Besides, there would be all sorts of problems with soul integration."
"If you can help me find such a body, I will share a great deal of essential knowledge with you that will definitely be to your benefit. Are you interested in this deal?" Dale asked.
Hearing this, Fang Zhen gave a dry laugh. "And what could you possibly teach me?"
"The path. The path to godhood. Are you telling me you’re not interested in that?" Dale retorted.
