’This isn’t working.’ Fang Zhen quickly retreated, trying to put some distance between himself and Moon.
A savage grin on his face, Moon charged after Fang Zhen. He maintained a distance of about fifteen meters, seemingly unwilling to let Fang Zhen escape his attack range.
Just then, a black Crystal Bone Crow suddenly shot forward from behind Moon.
The Crystal Bone Crow was incredibly fast, even faster than Moon over a short distance.
Moon tried to dodge.
But the Crystal Bone Crow slammed into his side, and a patch of black, star-filled night sky about seven or eight meters wide instantly appeared.
The dark space was like a night curtain, dotted with the faint light of countless stars.

However, he had complete faith in his Precision Throw. He knew roughly where each of the canisters had landed within the Star Night Cage.
Fang Zhen rapidly fell back, squeezing the trigger of the assault rifle in his right hand in short bursts. The rifle spat tongues of flame, sending bullets into the Star Night Cage.
BOOM! A tremendous roar shattered the silence as a gas canister exploded.
In an instant, flames shot toward the sky. The red-and-yellow blaze was like a ferocious beast, baring its fangs and brandishing its claws as it devoured everything around it. The intense light was like a man-made sun, so brilliant it was impossible to look at.
The force of the explosion sent nearby objects flying like scraps of paper. The deafening blast was accompanied by the sharp whistle of flying shrapnel, like the roar of death itself.
The air filled with the acrid smell of burning, mixed with the distinct, pungent odor of leaking gas, infusing the entire area with an aura of danger and death.
Fang Zhen had activated his Gang Zan Seal just before the explosion. Several pieces of shrapnel from the canisters flew toward him, only to be blocked by the seal’s power.
The last time he’d used a gas explosion, the effect had been immense. This time, he’d used even larger, ten-kilogram canisters—seven or eight of them. The resulting power was several, perhaps even ten times greater.
Still fearing that the Vice-Councilman of the Eternal Night Council wasn’t dead, Fang Zhen decided to go all out. He still had three canisters left. He summoned them from his subspace, hurled them into the inferno, and detonated them with his assault rifle.
The sound of explosions roared once more as flames surged skyward. Only then did the effects of the Star Night Cage finally fade.
Fang Zhen stared into the heart of the explosion and saw a mangled figure still standing amidst the flames.
All the flesh had been blasted from the body of Moon, the Vice-Councilman of the Eternal Night Council. Only a skeleton remained.
And yet, the skeleton was still standing. A layer of black, wire-like worms clung to the bones, desperately trying to multiply.
On the skeleton’s skull, a thin membrane covered the brain, which was still active, pulsing visibly. The brain itself could be seen through the transparent film.
Moon’s body was devoid of flesh, but for some reason, one of his eyes had been preserved. His left eye remained, stripped of its eyelid and muscles, just a naked eyeball exposed to the air.
Moon no longer had any vocal cords. He glared at Fang Zhen as his skeleton swayed. He wasn’t dead. In fact, the black, thread-like worms were already beginning to regenerate and repair his body.
Seeing this, Fang Zhen waved his hand, and an AWP sniper rifle appeared. He raised the weapon and took aim at Moon’s exposed brain.

The bullet instantly blew Moon’s brain apart.
Once his brain was destroyed, the last vestiges of life force in Moon’s body finally dispersed.
POP! Moon’s entire skeleton exploded into a fine powder, scattering across the ground like cremated ash.
Seeing this, Fang Zhen thought, ’He should be well and truly dead this time.’
To be on the safe side, Fang Zhen drew his Alien Snake Sword and slowly walked toward the epicenter of the explosion.
The smell of gas was overwhelming at the epicenter. Fang Zhen covered his mouth and nose as he approached.
He saw that some of the fine, black, thread-like worms were still on the ground, their bodies rapidly disintegrating.
As they disintegrated, a substance like concentrated blood spread across the ground, staining a large area red as it thinned out.
To make absolutely sure, Fang Zhen took his Alien Snake Sword and struck every remaining piece of skull or large bone fragment on the ground.
With a series of BOOMS, each strike of the sword’s tip blasted a crater several meters in diameter into the ground.
After Fang Zhen had pulverized every last large bone fragment, he was confident the Vice-Councilman of the Eternal Night Council was finally, completely dead.
With that done, Fang Zhen finally felt at ease. He thought the Vice-Councilman of the Eternal Night Council had died a rather anticlimactic death. The man was clearly exceptionally powerful, perhaps even stronger than Fang Zhen himself, but he’d been blown to bits before he could even display his true strength.
No amount of regenerative power could withstand that kind of explosive assault.
Fang Zhen quickly filed away the experience. This was a strategy he could definitely use again.
Just then, something caught Fang Zhen’s eye.
Where Moon’s remains had been, there was a fist-sized, round white stone. Its surface was pitted and cratered, much like the far side of the moon. Yet it was entirely white and emitted a gentle, pleasant radiance.

Fang Zhen felt his scalp tingle, as if his hair was standing on end. He didn’t know what was happening, and though the sensation wasn’t unpleasant, he didn’t let it continue. He quickly stored the object in a separate compartment within his King’s Belt.
In that moment, Fang Zhen had a hunch that this stone might be the only loot drop from this entire instance.
