Chapter 33: The Primal Tyrant

Chapter THIRTY THREE

Right in the large clearing, several Two-Spiked Gorillas were roaming around, scanning their surroundings as if preparing for an attack from an unseen enemy. Yet no attack had come their way, and the one they were guarding was a gorilla with combat power far greater than all twenty of them combined.

The Three-Spiked Gorilla sat atop the largest boulder in the clearing, its eyes closed as if recuperating and preparing for a grand battle.

The atmosphere was tense.

Still, after waiting for so long and seeing no attack arrive, the Spiked Gorillas gradually relaxed. freēwēbnovel.com

That moment of relaxation became their greatest mistake.

A blue figure suddenly arced downward from above at insane speed, rushing straight toward two Two-Spiked Gorillas near the outer perimeter.

The first gorilla sensed danger.

But before it could react, it was already too late.

Li Yuexin’s elegant Cloud Sword pierced straight through its chest and heart in one smooth motion.

The gorilla’s body immediately lost strength.

Its vision blurred.

Its life faded away.

Before the corpse had even begun falling, Li Yuexin had already moved.

Her sword flashed toward the neck of the nearest Two-Spiked Gorilla.

The beast reacted quickly enough, punching toward her head in an attempt to crush it.

Yet everything remained within Li Yuexin’s calculations.

Instead of continuing her thrust, her sword suddenly shifted sideways and flew from her grasp.

The gorilla’s eyes gleamed.

To it, the human had made a foolish mistake by abandoning her weapon.

Unfortunately for the beast, it was completely wrong.

Li Yuexin’s hand, reinforced and hardened by her inner qi, shot forward and caught the beast’s arm in midair.

Then with terrifying force, she twisted upward.

Crunch!

The arm shattered.

Using the protruding spike on the gorilla’s own arm, she brutally drove it into the beast’s chest.

The gorilla let out a painful whimper and attempted to retaliate.

But Li Yuexin had already moved.

She delivered a sweeping kick that surprisingly sent the enormous beast crashing onto its back.

At the same time, a thin silk thread connected to her sword tightened.

With a sharp pull, her blue sword flew back into her grasp.

The weapon arrived at exactly the right moment.

Without hesitation, she thrust downward.

The gorilla tried raising its remaining arm to block.

But it was a fraction too slow.

The blade pierced through its throat.

A sharp upward slash followed.

Blood sprayed into the air as its head split apart.

Li Yuexin’s eyes remained cold and merciless while beast blood splattered across her beautiful face.

Everything had happened within mere seconds.

In less than a minute, she had used the element of surprise to kill two Ninth Stage Qi Gathering beasts.

But that was the limit.

She had only managed this because she caught them off guard.

The rest of the battle would be nothing like that.

Her gaze shifted.

And there they were.

Charging toward her with murderous fury.

The remaining eighteen Two-Spiked Gorillas.

Now that she was closer, she could sense their energy clearly.

Ten of them were at the peak of the Ninth Stage.

The remaining eight were powerful late-stage Ninth Stage beasts.

This was not going to be easy.

Li Yuexin tightened her grip around her sword.

The sturdy hilt creaked slightly beneath the pressure.

Before the beasts could reach her, however—

Whoosh!

A sharp whistle cut through the air.

The rushing force caused her hair to flutter slightly.

A qi-infused sword slash shot forward and struck one of the charging gorillas.

A thin line appeared across its body.

Blood slowly seeped from the wound.

The beast instinctively halted for a brief moment.

"Brother Feng..."

Li Yuexin muttered as she looked toward the figure who had appeared beside her.

Li Feng stood there, his sword still frozen in the aftermath of his slash.

Turning toward her, he gave an encouraging nod.

"Let’s do this together, just like we always do."

His voice was calm.

Relaxed.

Yet beneath that calm exterior, tension was steadily rising.

Then two more figures landed beside them.

One wore red robes.

The other wore green.

"We all know what we’re doing is crazy, right?" Li Xie asked.

Li Jie nodded immediately.

"Totally insane."

Then he drew his weapon and looked toward the approaching horde.

"But we’ve got to do it."

"There is no way out after all."

"So let’s do this."

The four stood side by side.

Before them were eighteen enraged Two-Spiked Gorillas and one terrifying Three-Spiked Gorilla.

The pressure was overwhelming.

The odds were impossible.

Yet none of them retreated.

The four took in deep breaths, and then all at once they charged toward the incoming tide of death, ready to face it head-on.

BOOOOOOM!

Explosive shockwaves spread outward in waves from the point of contact as both sides clashed furiously.

As expected, the battle quickly became extremely difficult. Only a few minutes after the fight began, the situation had already turned grim.

Li Feng dodged a spiked punch, only to be struck by a powerful dual kick from another beast. Pain exploded across his chest as he was sent flying backward. He rolled several times before somersaulting away just in time as another beast slammed both of its spiked fists into the spot where his head had been a moment earlier.

Without hesitation, he charged forward again and attacked the two beasts with his refined sword skills, leaving vicious wounds across their bodies. However, none of the injuries were deep enough to truly weaken them.

Worse still, he wasn’t given any opportunity to press his advantage.

Before he could focus on delivering a decisive strike, danger flashed through his senses once more. He immediately leaped away as another two-spiked gorilla lunged forward, attempting to crush him in a deadly grasp.

Li Feng wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, his expression darkening.

"This is not going well... not well at all."

Meanwhile, Li Xie and Li Jie were in a similar situation... if not an even worse one.

The two brothers had already suffered several brutal, though not fatal, injuries. At one point they were sent crashing into each other before quickly scrambling back to their feet and covering one another’s backs.

"Bro, I said this is crazy. Really crazy. If we die here, who is going to take care of Grandma?" Li Xie asked with a depressed expression.

Li Jie only scoffed.

"Forget about the old woman. Our lives matter first. After we survive, then we can think about that again."

After saying that, Li Jie removed the expensive silk robes and decorative chains he always wore and stored them inside the storage ring on his finger.

Two rapiers appeared in his hands.

His best weapons.

Both were low-star-grade weapons.

The moment Li Xie saw his brother taking off his treasured clothes, he immediately understood one thing.

Li Jie was finally going all out.

After all, Li Jie would never be able to fight seriously while worrying about his appearance and expensive belongings.

Now he no longer cared about any of that.

And that was precisely when he became truly dangerous.

Li Xie realized he also needed to swallow his fear and focus entirely on the battle. Otherwise, he would die here.

No.

He had to survive.

For the clan.

And especially because his grandmother still needed him.

His gaze sharpened.

His grip on his longsword tightened.

He was ready to go all out as well.

With a loud battle cry, the two brothers charged straight back into the chaos.

Among all four cultivators, the one performing the best was unsurprisingly Li Yuexin.

She was simultaneously facing five peak ninth-stage two-spiked gorillas, and yet she wasn’t being overwhelmed.

If anything, she seemed to be gradually gaining the upper hand.

The beasts were accumulating injuries one after another under her relentless attacks.

If things continued at this pace, then within several more minutes she would either eliminate all five beasts or at the very least reduce their number significantly.

Her gaze remained cold and deeply focused as she weaved through attacks and faced the five powerful beasts head-on.

Every movement was precise.

Every strike was efficient.

With her exceptional swordsmanship and sharp battle instincts, she slowly dismantled the beasts one after another.

Meanwhile, atop the towering boulder in the distance, the three-spiked gorilla watched the battle below with a largely disinterested expression.

Its gaze swept across the humans one after another.

Soon, it came to a simple conclusion.

They were not a threat.

The three-spiked gorilla was more than certain that the two-spiked gorillas would be more than enough to finish the battle.

There was no need for it to interfere.

Instead, its thoughts drifted elsewhere.

To the reason it had ventured this far into the outer perimeter of the Beast Forest.

A human.

As ridiculous as it sounded, a single human had been terrorizing this entire region of the forest.

Even the nearby territories had been thrown into chaos because of that one individual.

Two days ago, another three-spiked gorilla had been dispatched to deal with the problem.

Yet within that very same day, news of that gorilla’s death had returned.

And so this gorilla had been sent instead.

After all, the previous three-spiked gorilla had only been at the first stage of Level Two.

This one, however, was already approaching the third stage.

Surely that would be enough to kill the human who had been terrorizing the beasts...

Right?

The gorilla tried to calm itself.

Yet it didn’t know why its nerves remained unsettled whenever it thought about its mission.

And the funniest part was that when it looked at the four humans fighting below, it felt absolutely nothing.

No fear.

No tension.

No unease.

Only indifference and the certainty of its own superiority.

Yet when it thought about the Beast Hunter...

That one human...

Its heart involuntarily tightened.

The human known among the beasts by a single terrifying title.

The Primal Tyrant.
