Chapter 152: Chapter 152: Painting Candy Like a Ghost

A glance at the floor revealed clothes and shoes scattered everywhere. Her top had even been torn.

This...

Cecelia Archer recalled some fleeting fragments.

’Before I passed out, I think I ran into Damien Vaughn by the restroom door. He threw me over his shoulder... Don’t tell me?’

She quickly looked down at her body. It was covered in bruises. That place, in particular, was swollen and sore...

’Oh my God! So last night, Damien Vaughn and I... again...?’

At this realization, Cecelia’s stomach churned violently, and she almost threw up.

’Damien Vaughn is such an animal. His girlfriend was right here in a room at the club, yet he used being drunk as an excuse to... with someone else.’

’So dirty! So disgusting! So filthy! If it weren’t for her daughter, Candy, Cecelia would have wanted to die! ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

Wrapping the blanket around herself, she got out of bed, looked around, and found the bathroom. She rushed inside and began to scrub herself frantically.

’But no amount of washing would help. That disgusting man! He looks so cold and aloof on the surface, but I just want to announce to the world that he’s really a beast in gentleman’s clothing!’

She scrubbed for what felt like an eternity, nearly rubbing her skin raw. The bathroom filled with steam, becoming so stuffy that she could barely breathe. Only then did Cecelia finally come out.

Sitting on the edge of the bed and staring at her torn clothes, she was agonizing over how to leave when someone knocked on the door.

Cecelia quickly clutched the blanket to herself. "Who is it?"

It was a young woman. "Hello, Miss Archer. President Jacobs sent me to bring you some clothes. May I come in?"

’Brandon Jacobs sent someone with clothes for me? Why would Brandon Jacobs be the one to do that?’

Cecelia opened the door. The woman gave her a quick, gossipy glance, put down the clothes, and turned to leave, but Cecelia stopped her.

"Where is this?"

The woman shot her another strange look.

"This is our President Jacobs’s office. Oh, the office is out there. This is his private lounge."

Cecelia understood. So last night, Damien Vaughn had brought her to Brandon Jacobs’s private lounge.

’How disgusting! How humiliating!’

’Brandon Jacobs and Wyatt Wynn must know. Mrs. Vaughn and Gwen Morgan must know, too!’

’He knew they were all waiting for us in a private room nearby. How could he have the nerve to just...?’

’God, how am I going to face anyone?’

After changing her clothes, Cecelia hesitated for a long while before finally leaving the club.

On the way, she kept wondering what kind of expression to wear when she faced Mrs. Vaughn, and whether she should just take Candy and leave immediately.

Before she could reach a conclusion, she had arrived at the front door.

Cecelia braced herself and entered the main hall, only to find Grandpa there alone.

"You’re back," Grandpa said, looking at her with his usual warm, cheerful smile.

"Your mother-in-law took Candy out to play. She said you and Damien had something to do and would be back late, but you’re back sooner than I expected. Why didn’t Damien come back with you? Did he go to the office again?"

Cecelia’s head spun, and she almost collapsed to the floor.

’Mrs. Vaughn took Candy out to play? How could she possibly take Candy out to play!’

"Grandpa, I... It must be hard for her to take Candy out alone. I should go pick her up. Where did they go?"

In the blink of an eye, Cecelia was running out of the Vaughn residence again.

As the chauffeur drove, she anxiously called Mrs. Vaughn.

The first call went unanswered. The second, too.

Cecelia didn’t dare to imagine what Candy was going through. Filled with fear and anxiety, she tried a third time. This time, Mrs. Vaughn finally picked up.

Without any pleasantries, she simply stated the name of a beauty salon. freēwēbηovel.c૦m

Cecelia hurriedly told the driver to head there. Upon arrival, she rushed inside and found Mrs. Vaughn, who had just finished a treatment, lounging leisurely on a sofa and playing on her phone. Standing ramrod straight beside her was a small child.

If it hadn’t been her own daughter, Cecelia wouldn’t have recognized who it was.

She looked nothing like the pure, fair-skinned little angel she usually was.

Mrs. Vaughn had dressed her in a rainbow-colored camisole from who knows where, paired with a short, tight pair of black leather shorts and red leather shoes.

Her hair had been permed into small waves that fell over her shoulders, and her face was caked in heavy, garish makeup.

’She didn’t look like a child at all. She looked like a miniature version of some cheap, flashy tart!’

Cecelia felt like she was about to break down. Her voice trembled as she knelt.

"Candy!"

When Candy saw her, her rigidly straight body finally relaxed. "Mommy!" she cried, rushing into her arms.

"Mommy, you finally came for me! I missed you so much!"

Cecelia held her daughter tightly for a moment, then took another look at her face.

Her blush was caked on like a clown’s, she was wearing fake eyelashes, and her usually small, cute lips were a shocking shade of red...

She could no longer suppress her rage. "Mrs. Vaughn, what is the meaning of this?"

"The meaning?"

Mrs. Vaughn lifted her eyelids arrogantly. "Look how much your daughter resembles you. A little vixen in the making, even at her age. This kind of style suits her perfectly. I even went out of my way to buy her these new clothes today. What? You’re not satisfied?"

’Calling her a vixen at such a young age? And she’s a mother herself! How could she say something so vicious?’

Cecelia’s heart ached as if someone had squeezed it in their fist.

"You can say whatever you want about me, but how could you do this to a child? How old is she? Have you even considered the psychological damage this will cause her?"

At the mention of damage, Mrs. Vaughn put down her phone and glared at her with pure hatred.

"You know how to feel sorry for a child? Did you ever think about my feelings when you were defiling my son? That’s Damien Vaughn we’re talking about!"

"Do you have any idea what it took to raise him? Do you know how treasured he is by our entire family? Do you know how outstanding he’s been his entire life? Do you know how many wealthy heiresses in Veridia, and even across the entire country, want to marry him? My son, whom I raised with such care, a man so exceptional that most women aren’t worthy of him, was defiled by a rotten woman like you who can’t control herself and has already had a child. Do you have any idea how much my heart aches?"

’It’s true she’d had a child, but she was a victim! She always conducted herself with the utmost self-respect. It wasn’t even clear who had defiled whom!’

Cecelia desperately wanted to tell her the truth, but Mrs. Vaughn was so conceited and convinced of her son’s perfection. How would she ever believe her?

Cecelia didn’t want to argue with her. She simply picked up Candy and spoke to her coldly.

"You can’t control your own son, so you take it out on me. Is that supposed to be impressive? I didn’t beg him or force him to be with me. If you want to yell at someone, go yell at him!"

"You!"

Mrs. Vaughn was so furious she could have died. She shot up from the sofa, rushed in front of Cecelia, and slapped her hard across the face.

"Who the hell do you think you are, acting so high and mighty in front of me? You think you’re hot shit just because you slept with my son a few times? You’re nothing but his toy! To be used and then thrown away! Marry him? Dream on!"

"I’m going to call him right now and have him throw you out! Stop being so full of yourself! Get out! I don’t want to see you for another second!"

"Take your bastard child and get the hell out of my sight! If I ever see you again, I’ll make sure you and your daughter die a horrible death!"
