Chapter 150: Chapter 150: Cecelia Archer, You Are Testing My Limits

After Cecelia Archer asked her "innocent" question, Gwen Morgan smiled. She glanced tenderly at Damien Vaughn, as if seeking his permission. ’Can I tell her?’

Just then, Mrs. Vaughn chimed in, looking utterly satisfied.

"Gwen is honest, beautiful, and capable. She’s also very serious when it comes to love. The man she likes is incredibly lucky."

Seeing the conversation drifting further and further off-topic, and fearing the game would turn into a trip down memory lane about Gwen Morgan and Damien Vaughn’s youthful romance if he didn’t intervene, Wyatt Wynn quickly cut in, pushing the spinner in front of Gwen.

"Alright, you’ve answered the question, so that’s enough of that. Come on, it’s your turn."

Gwen Morgan knew this wasn’t the time to reveal too much in front of Damien Vaughn, so she wisely went back to playing the game.

Coincidentally, her turn involved Cecelia Archer.

The space she landed on was: "Make the previous player do one thing at your command."

Gwen Morgan smiled at Cecelia Archer. "I played along with you, so you should play along with me. Brandon’s dancing earlier was quite good. Cecelia, you’re so beautiful, I’m sure you’d look amazing dancing too. Why don’t the two of you dance for us?"

Wyatt Wynn was completely speechless.

’One after another, they’re all courting disaster. I want to stop them, but I can’t.’

Damien Vaughn sat there with a grim expression, staring at Cecelia Archer. His posture screamed, ’You dare dance with him. Just you try it.’

But Cecelia Archer pointedly refused to look back at him.

"I’m not much of a dancer, but Mr. Jacobs really was quite good just now. I’ll have to trouble you to lead me. Please don’t judge if I’m terrible, everyone."

She showed no intention of refusing. As she spoke, she stood up and extended her hand to Brandon Jacobs.

Brandon Jacobs took her hand and led her to a nearby empty space, twirling her a few times.

It wasn’t romantic in the slightest, and was actually quite fun.

When they finished twirling, they couldn’t help but share another smile.

Damien Vaughn’s face was as black as thunder.

The game continued. Damien Vaughn still refused to play along, opting only to drink. Soon, it was Cecelia Archer’s turn again.

Cecelia was starting to get a feel for how to spin the wheel. Aiming for a particular space, she gave it a light flick, and actually landed on it: "Choose any person present and make them do three things."

Cecelia chose Gwen Morgan again.

"I already linked arms for a drink with Mr. Jacobs, so you should have one with Damien, too. No backing out, now. Go on, go on!"

For the umpteenth time, Brandon Jacobs and Wyatt Wynn exchanged bewildered glances in Cecelia Archer’s direction.

’What on earth were those three up to tonight?’

’Cecelia’s behavior tonight is actually pretty good,’ Gwen Morgan thought. ’She’s finally realized her place. It looks like Mrs. Vaughn’s work these past couple of days has really paid off. Damien will be back in my arms soon enough!’

She picked up her wine glass and readily stood up.

"Damien, I didn’t refuse. You’re not going to, are you?"

Damien Vaughn looked at Cecelia Archer’s carefree smile, his anger simmering. He, too, picked up his glass and stood.

’Since she wants a show so badly, I’ll give her one!’

The two linked arms and drained their glasses.

Cecelia led the applause. "Bravo! Another!"

They drank three glasses in a row. Just as Gwen Morgan was about to sit down, Cecelia Archer stood up.

"Don’t sit down just yet, there’s still the second thing. You two, hug."

Damien Vaughn: "???"

Cecelia clapped her hands to a rhythm. "Hug! Hug! Hug!"

Gwen Morgan smiled at Damien Vaughn and willingly opened her arms, leaning forward.

"Damien, let’s just hug then."

Suppressing his rage, Damien gave her a quick, perfunctory hug.

The moment they broke apart, Cecelia chimed in again.

"Third thing! A kiss! You two, kiss! Hurry, hurry!" frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

’This is going too far! What the hell is she playing at now?’

Damien Vaughn couldn’t take it anymore. He grabbed a bottle of liquor, tilted his head back, and took several large gulps.

"Are you satisfied now?"

Cecelia Archer: "..."

’I go to all this trouble with the best of intentions to get them back together, and he gets mad at *me*? No good deed goes unpunished!’

"Fine, fine. If he wants to drink, let him. We’ll just keep playing."

Cecelia pulled Gwen Morgan back to her seat.

The game went on for a few more rounds, filled with chatter, laughter, and a good deal more drinking.

Cecelia wasn’t a great drinker. Her head was starting to feel fuzzy, she was slurring her words a little, and she had to pee.

"You guys keep playing, I’m going to the restroom."

She hurried out.

Since she had worked here before, she was familiar with the layout and found the restroom quickly.

She came out of the stall and was washing her hands at the sink when an arm grabbed hers, yanking her around.

The world spun, and Cecelia nearly crashed into the person.

"Who’s there? What are you—"

It was Damien Vaughn.

"What are you doing out here? The men’s room is that way."

Cecelia thought he was asking for directions, so she pointed. But Damien, his face grim and without saying a word, suddenly hoisted her onto his shoulder.

"Hey, hey, hey! Where are you taking me? What are you doing? Are you drunk? Put me down! Mr. Vaughn, what are you doing?"

Fuming, Damien strode furiously for a couple of minutes, then threw open the door to Brandon Jacobs’ office. He carried her inside and tossed her onto the large bed in the break room.

The world spun again, and Cecelia felt as if all the alcohol she’d drunk was about to come right back up.

She had no idea what Damien Vaughn was up to. After catching her breath for a few seconds, she propped herself up on her arms to sit, but he suddenly loomed over her, planting his hands on either side of her head and trapping her beneath him.

"What the hell were you playing at tonight? What set you off this time?"

’Shouldn’t I be the one asking him that?’ she thought. ’What set *him* off? Why is he suddenly coming after me and blowing up like this?’

"I wasn’t doing anything. Weren’t you and Miss Morgan on the outs? I had to find a way to get you two to make up. You—"

’Who said he and Gwen were on the outs? And who the hell asked her to get them to make up?’

She had pushed his buttons all night, and Damien Vaughn had long since reached his limit.

’He’d originally planned to take things slow with her, to let Cecelia fall for him willingly, little by little. But at this rate, with this heartless woman...’

Damien Vaughn couldn’t wait that long.

"What you did tonight made me furious, Cecelia. The top priority right now should be figuring out how *I* can make up with *you*! Try mentioning anyone else to me one more time."

Cecelia Archer: "..."

Damien Vaughn was far too close. His warm breath, thick with the scent of alcohol, washed over her cheeks, making her feel hot and dizzy, her thoughts tangled.

"Mr. Vaughn, could you back away a little? I..."

’Still calling me Mr. Vaughn? Still telling me to back away? This heartless woman!’

’I’ve been too gentle with her. I’ve spoiled her rotten!’

Damien Vaughn stared at her flushed cheeks, her slightly parted lips, her glistening, clear eyes. Clenching his jaw, he grabbed both her arms, pinned them above her head, and crushed his mouth down on hers.
