Chapter 115: Chapter 115: I’ll Just Share With Her
Damien Vaughn simply couldn’t comprehend her logic.
Bringing an umbrella?
He was the CEO of the Vaughn Group, for crying out loud. He’d dropped everything at work, braved the scorching sun, and crossed half of Veridia just to show up in front of her. Could she really not grasp that there was more to it?
Not knowing if she was genuinely clueless or just playing dumb, Damien Vaughn huffed in frustration.
"Can’t I just be passing by and decide to come see Candy? And to bring you an umbrella. You look like you’re having a grand time in the sun."
Cecelia Archer: "..."
As the two were talking, Shane Grant and Zeke Walton walked over, carrying several drinks.
They looked up and spotted the conspicuous Damien Vaughn in the crowd.
Zeke Walton really had to hand it to him.
’He’d specifically called to ask which amusement park they were at, all so he could chase after them.’
’Just what kind of history did Cecelia and Shane Grant have to make him this vigilant?’
Shane Grant saw Damien Vaughn as well.
He saw him holding both children, looking down at Cecelia Archer with eyes full of tenderness. Cecelia was looking back at him with the same gentle gaze.
They looked so perfect together, so harmonious. An outsider would have mistaken them for a family of four. He couldn’t stop a pang of jealousy from surging up.
"Vaughn, what are you doing here?"
Zeke Walton reached them first.
"You didn’t say you were coming, so we didn’t get you a drink. Are you thirsty? I can go grab one for you."
Damien Vaughn glanced at the drinks in their hands. Indeed, there wasn’t one for him.
"Cecelia and I can share one. No need." frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
Shane Grant: "..."
The two kids jumped down from his arms and happily went to drink their beverages.
Damien Vaughn took Cecelia’s drink, stuck a straw in it, and held it to her lips.
"You first."
It was true they’d known each other for a while now. They even slept in the same bed at night, and more intimate things had happened between them.
But sharing a drink like this in broad daylight was a first.
Cecelia Archer felt awkward. "I’m not thirsty. You can have it."
Damien Vaughn’s brow furrowed. "What? Are you saying you’re disgusted by me?"
Cecelia Archer: "..."
She had no choice but to take a small, symbolic sip. "Happy now?"
’That’s more like it.’
Damien Vaughn put his lips to the same spot on the straw she had used.
After taking a sip, he handed the drink back to Cecelia and casually draped an arm around her shoulder.
"What ride are we in line for now? Did you have fun earlier?"
The indirect kiss, the arm around her shoulder... all right in front of him. Shane Grant’s heart soured even more.
But Cecelia seemed so natural with him. There was nothing really between him and Cecelia, so it felt like he didn’t even have the right to be jealous...
They soon reached the ticket checker, and the staff asked them for their tickets. Only then did Damien Vaughn realize he hadn’t bought one.
"Zeke."
He turned and held out his hand to Zeke Walton. "Give me your ticket. You can go play by yourself."
Zeke Walton felt like kneeling before him again in exasperation.
’I worked my butt off to come along and play chaperone, waited in line for ages, and now he’s just going to steal my ticket?’
"You didn’t buy a ticket when you came in?"
"Duh. If I’d bought one, would I be asking you? You’re not needed here anymore. If there’s nothing else, you can head back."
’Talk about kicking away the ladder after you’ve climbed it.’ Zeke Walton was so angry his chest hurt.
’Who said he had nothing else to do? Isn’t building a rapport with Shane Grant a huge deal? So, it was fine for Damien to pursue a relationship, but others weren’t allowed to?’
But he couldn’t just say that in front of the kids and Shane Grant, so Zeke Walton could only shove the ticket into his hand reluctantly.
Damien Vaughn accompanied Cecelia Archer and Candy, while Shane Grant took Annie. As they went from ride to ride, Zeke Walton watched from below until his eyes grew sore. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
’This is ridiculous!’
When one ride ended, they started lining up for the next. Unwilling to be left out, Zeke Walton chased after them.
"I’m already here, so what’s the deal with not letting me join? These rides are all pretty much the same, not that interesting. If you ask me, we should do something else."
In truth, Damien Vaughn also found the amusement park too childish for him and was eager for Cecelia and Shane Grant to be separated.
"Sure. What do you want to do?"
"Let’s go horseback riding. How about that?"
He deliberately crouched down and spoke to the two children in a tempting voice.
"Uncle Vaughn and I have a few horses at the racetrack. They’re beautiful, tall, and run really fast. Have you ever ridden a horse? Want to give it a try? You can sit in front, I’ll hold you, and it’ll look so cool when we’re riding."
The two kids immediately remembered the time they went riding with Shane Grant.
"Yay, yay! Horseback riding is great! My dad can ride too, and he looks so cool doing it! Dad, can we go horseback riding too?"
Being a boy, Annie had a natural love for challenges and excitement. He was instantly hooked.
Seeing that the kids were on board, and that Damien Vaughn and Zeke Walton wanted to go too, Shane Grant had no reason to be a spoilsport.
"Cecelia, do you want to go?"
Cecelia wasn’t blind. Since everyone else wanted to go, she might as well agree.
The group left the amusement park. When they got to the car, Damien Vaughn opened the passenger door for Cecelia Archer.
Candy and Annie were holding hands and refused to let go. Candy said, "I want to ride in the same car as Annie. Annie, you should come with us."
Annie looked at his dad, then at Candy. "I want to ride with you, but I also want to be with my dad. Godmother, why don’t you ride in Dad’s car with us?"
’Godmother?’
Hearing him say that, Shane Grant’s brow furrowed.
"When did you start calling her that? When did you make Aunt Archer your godmother?"
"This morning, at our house. Auntie said she couldn’t be with you anymore, but I still want to see her a lot, so I asked her to be my godmother. What’s wrong, Dad? Is that not allowed?"
’Of course it’s not allowed!’
Shane Grant hadn’t completely given up on Cecelia Archer yet. If his son officially made her his godmother, wouldn’t that mean he had absolutely no chance left?
He reached out and ruffled Annie’s hair. "It’s not that it’s not allowed, but these things require the right time, place, and people. It’s not something you can just decide on a whim. I’ll find someone to check the auspiciousness of it later, and we’ll see if it’s suitable."
Cecelia Archer: "..."
"Since you don’t want to be separated from Candy, you can get in Uncle Vaughn’s car. Dad will follow behind you."
’He didn’t actually want Annie to ride in Damien Vaughn’s car. He just wanted the two kids to be sandwiched in the middle, making it inconvenient for Damien to get too intimate with Cecelia.’
Damien Vaughn saw right through his little scheme.
’That bastard. He wants to take advantage of Cecelia but won’t take responsibility. Dream on if you think you can have it all!’
The car sped along, and they soon arrived at the racetrack.
The staff brought out the horses that Damien Vaughn and Zeke Walton stabled there.
They were indeed beautiful, with sleek, glossy coats and graceful muscle definition. One look and you could tell they were exceptional breeds.
Annie and Candy couldn’t wait to get on them.
"I want to ride this one! Who’s taking me? I can’t wait! Mommy, take a video for me!"
Damien Vaughn lifted Candy onto his horse’s back and turned to Shane Grant.
"A friend of mine also keeps a horse here, same breed as mine. I remember you’re quite a good rider, Grant. Care for a race?"
From the moment Damien Vaughn had appeared at the amusement park, Shane Grant had felt his provocations.
Regardless of where his relationship with Cecelia might go, Shane Grant couldn’t possibly back down just based on the other man’s disdainful attitude.
"Alright. What are the stakes?"
