Chapter 214: Chapter 213: Courting Death
’I never thought the North Snow Tribe’s Witch Priest would be able to use a sealing array.’
Gale tore open the void and stepped out from the seal. His aura was diminished, and he was as breathless as a drenched crow.
After the Elder Witch Priest forcibly drew upon Ancestral Power to seal them, the members of the Demon Race to whom Gale had distributed that same power were helpless, and they vanished one by one.
The leader of the One-eyed Snow Owls didn’t know how to break the seal. He could only let the ancestral Spirit Charm condensed within him dissipate, taking his physical body with it into death.
Only Gale was able to use the residual Spirit Charm released by their deaths to continuously assault the Elder Witch Priest’s seal, barely managing to escape after a monumental effort.
In truth, as time went on, the small amount of Spirit Charm and life the Elder Witch Priest had sacrificed would eventually be insufficient to sustain the seal’s consumption. They all would have gotten out in the end, but for Gale, escaping quickly was crucial.
And so, he sacrificed the One-eyed Snow Owl and two other leaders to completely break through the Elder Witch Priest’s seal.
But now, as he led the somewhat depleted forces of the Cold Heaven Cliff Demon Clan out from the seal, he was met with a desolate scene. Even when he used his perception techniques, he could not detect any Life Force from the North Snow Tribe.
Clearly, the people of the North Snow Tribe had taken advantage of the time he was sealed to make a hasty escape.
The Northern Boundary was vast; the territory the Human Race currently occupied was merely the tip of the iceberg. If they had fled south into the labyrinthine expanse of ice and snow-capped mountains, tracking them would be nearly impossible.
"So, the people of the North Snow Tribe have already fled?"
Gale was unconcerned. He casually brushed the snow from his clothes, a faint smile touching his lips. "Perfect. One part of the Lord Demon King’s mission is complete."
’The important thing was never to kill every last member of the Human Race. The most valuable things in the Northern Boundary are the legacies passed down from the ancient era.’
’If the North Snow people fled, then they fled. It would be best to hunt them to extinction, but if that’s not possible, it’s of little consequence. These natives have lost even the most basic Spirit Charm Cultivation Technique. How could they possibly rise up?’
’Impossible.’
’Even if a new Witch Priest managed to learn an Ancient Cultivation Technique through their legacy, they couldn’t possibly develop to the point of threatening the entire Northern Boundary. Their path would be fraught with difficulty.’
’The task at hand is to follow the Lord Demon King’s instructions: go to the core legacy area of North Snow, one of the Northern Boundary’s Main Vein Tribes, and plunder their legacy.’
’Before he came, Demon King Chen had already told him that the Northern Boundary was just a forgotten, remote land with no real intrinsic value. As for the Enlightenment Fruit, it wasn’t something just any person or demon could take.’
’Only by using special methods to steal the legacies left by ancient powerhouses could they truly increase their own power and make a great contribution to the might of the Kunlun Demon Clan.’
’Speaking of which, the Lord Demon King knew Demon Emperor Cang, the one who left the legacy at Cold Heaven Cliff, and had long ago taught him the method to steal it.’
’Otherwise, how could he, Gale, have perfectly inherited the Cold Heaven Cliff legacy—one that had lacked a successor for tens of thousands of years—in just a year or two?’
’It was all thanks to Demon King Chen’s guidance from behind the scenes!’
"Move out! Plunder the North Snow Tribe. If you encounter any humans in hiding, kill them all."
At his command, the blood of the thousands of Demon Race members behind Gale boiled. After saluting him, they swarmed out like locusts, pouring into the dilapidated buildings of the North Snow Tribe, their smashing and plundering echoing with CRASHES and BOOMS.
Meanwhile, Gale chuckled softly and flew directly toward the center of the North Snow Tribe, intent on finding their place of legacy—the North Snow Tower.
BUZZ—
The wind picked up. The illusory wings on Gale’s back seemed to hit a fierce gust, bringing him to an abrupt halt in midair. His left hand slowly moved to the hilt of his blade, a murderous glint in his narrowed eyes.
Before him were over a hundred living people. They surrounded the North Snow Tower, their combat prowess impressive. They were all the tribe’s top fighters; even the weakest was in the Iron Flesh Realm, equivalent to the most elite Hunting Team Captains of the Human Race.
An elite force of over a hundred people was beyond Gale’s expectations. However, he didn’t panic. He merely glanced at the powerfully built Wall and at Fan with the sword at his waist, a smirk playing on his lips. "Two Chosen Ones?"
Having perfectly stolen the legacy left by Demon Emperor Cang, he had stepped into the Dao Forging Jade Sinew Realm. He was naturally stronger than anyone present and saw them as nothing more than ants.
’He wasn’t worried that a few mere Chosen Ones in the Steel Bone Realm could cause any real trouble. He was just curious... these guys weren’t from the North Snow Tribe, so what were they doing here?’
’By all rights, they should have been off at the North Sea for the ancestral trial. Could they be finished already?’
’But even so, there’s no reason for them to be helping North Snow...’
"This aura... Could that be the new Witch Priest from Cold Heaven Cliff? The Celestial Chosen Demon named Gale!"
Someone in the human ranks muttered this aloud, causing an immediate uproar. They could all clearly feel the oppressive aura radiating from Gale, who was suspended in midair. Behind that young, human-looking face, a power was brewing that surpassed the conventional limits of the Northern Boundary.
Without a doubt, he had entered the Dao Forging Jade Sinew Realm!
For tens of thousands of years, no native human or demon in the Northern Boundary had been able to reach such a realm. Only a Chosen One or a Celestial Chosen Demon could do so. But even among these chosen few, the power gaps could be immense.
The aura of the "person" before them surpassed Jiang Qiu’s when he had just emerged from the North Sea Palace!
"Are you the one who led the force that destroyed North Snow?"
Hunt was dauntless. Gripping his Cold Iron Spear, he held his head high to meet Gale’s gaze, stepping forward from the ranks to stand alone before the crowd, as immovable as an iron tower.
"Hn."
Gale grunted, glancing at Hunt for only a moment before his gaze fell back upon Wall and Fan.
’Compared to a mere Northern Boundary native in the Steel Bone Realm, Wall and Fan, who had just obtained a small part of the ancestral legacy, were far more worthy of his attention.’
’Excluding the Witch Priests, their true power certainly surpassed that of the Northern Boundary’s former strongest fighters. They would have plenty of tricks up their sleeves, too. He needed to be wary.’
’Furthermore, the Human Race had only five Chosen Ones in total, and he had just run into two of them. If he eliminated them, the contest between the Chosen would proceed much more smoothly.’
"This guy is strong. He might have reached the legendary Dao Forging Jade Sinew Realm," Hunt said, taking a deep breath, his gaze resolute. "I’ll hold them off! You all run!"
His voice boomed like thunder, so powerful that even the snow on the North Snow Tower’s roof tiles trembled. He knew the man before him was an unbeatable foe; he only prayed that Hill, the Chosen One still inside the tower, would realize the danger and escape in time!
Hearing this, Gale found it amusing and shook his head. Suddenly, the sound of something tearing through the air shot up from below.
WHOOSH!
A Conical Arrow came to a sudden halt right before the bridge of Gale’s nose, trapped in a layer of wind and unable to advance another inch.
Gale’s face paled. His eyes, sharp as blades, fixed on Hunt as he spoke in a frigid tone, "Are you trying to die?"
CLANG—
The blade left its sheath. For an instant, the world seemed to fall silent, the vast expanse of white snow freezing in midair. An invisible Sword Intent shot toward Hunt below.
At that very moment, the North Snow Tower—which had been utterly silent, blocking out all perception—trembled. Suddenly, a wave of Spear Intent surged out from within.
