Chapter 639: Chapter 639: As If This Gives Him a Sense of Security
Just as Sherry took out her phone, ready to unlock it and make a call, she realized her phone was out of battery.
It was then she remembered that during their time at the amusement park, when Yancy Shaw kept asking her to take photos for him and Nathaniel, her phone had already drained its battery.
Thinking of this, she sighed and had no choice but to look up at Yancy Shaw and ask for help.
"I’m sorry, Mr. Shaw, my phone’s dead. May I borrow yours?"
Upon hearing her, Yancy Shaw, seemingly prepared, raised an eyebrow and replied.
"I didn’t bring a phone."
"..." Sherry was speechless.
How could he not bring a phone?
She remembered back when he was very busy, he carried his phone 24/7, even keeping it on while sleeping to handle business at any time. How could he go out without a phone now?
She was rather puzzled.
"Mr. Shaw, aren’t you worried about missing any urgent work issues without your phone?" Unable to hold back her doubts, she asked him.
But to her surprise, Yancy Shaw chuckled and calmly replied.
"Miss Sherry might not know, but I’ve taken a long vacation. They won’t bother me with trivial matters."
Listening to his response, Sherry was momentarily at a loss for words and could only turn to look out the window again.
On the dark, small road, there were no other vehicles, leaving her with no chance for external help.
Just as worry started to spread across her face, Yancy Shaw’s voice suddenly rang out again.
"The car is out of gas now, so we can’t go back for the time being. Waiting for someone to pick us up will take several hours, and Nathaniel is already asleep."
Hearing Yancy Shaw’s words, Sherry was taken aback, instinctively glancing at the soundly sleeping little one in her arms before turning her head to politely ask Yancy Shaw.
"Mr. Shaw, what do you plan to do?"
"As I drove by just now, I noticed there’s a small inn a few hundred meters away. Why don’t we rest there for the night? We can use their phone to call someone to pick us up tomorrow morning, which won’t disturb Nathaniel’s rest, and it’ll save us some trouble," Yancy Shaw calmly and coolly analyzed, offering a very good solution.
After hearing Yancy Shaw’s words, Sherry felt a vague sense that something was off.
She couldn’t say exactly what was wrong, just that everything seemed a bit too coincidental.
However, despite feeling that things were too coincidental, she couldn’t find anything obviously problematic to raise her suspicions.
"What does Miss Sherry think?" Yancy Shaw’s inquiry sounded once more.
Sherry looked at Nathaniel sleeping in her arms and could only nod and agree.
"Alright."
There was no other option at the moment. After all, Nathaniel was already asleep, and it would be quite a hassle on the road, potentially disturbing his rest.
Perhaps because of a lack of companionship from relatives, the little one clearly lacked a sense of security. Though asleep, his small hand clutched the edge of her clothing as if it provided him comfort...
Thinking about this, Sherry felt an extra layer of heartache.
Seeing her agreement, Yancy Shaw finally pushed open the car door, got out, and came to the rear car door. Opening the door, he extended his arms towards her.
"Hand him over to me."
