Chapter 336: 336 Jujutsu Kaisen

I had a reason for wanting to go to the Heian Era. To be honest, Jujutsu Kaisen had many truly attractive abilities. But if I went straight into the original story, aside from killing all the main characters and driving it into ruin, there was no way to obtain them. So I came to the Heian Era, 1000 years ago — the era when sorcerers and curses were at their peak.

My plan was to wipe out all the sorcerers and special-grade curses, acquire and research jujutsu, use a [Replay Ticket] to reset, then enter the original timeline and enjoy myself. ’If you gained jujutsu in the Heian Era, why go to the present?’ you might think. But there were jujutsu techniques that could only be obtained in the present, and more than anything, I was a fan of Jujutsu Kaisen.

’I’ll save the characters who unfortunately died.’

Quite a few major characters die in Jujutsu Kaisen. The work makes you invest in those characters, then has them meet their end — as a fan, it’s heartbreaking. And sometimes characters who seemed like they could have been developed further die suddenly, leaving me with a lot of personal regret.

’Gege-sensei was a bit too harsh. The meme of Junpei Yoshino surviving and fighting alongside Yuji didn’t spread for nothing.’

Anyway, having made my plan, I arrived in Heian Era Japan and looked around. The large cities were relatively okay, but the rural areas were completely inhuman. With all kinds of special-grade curses and sorcerers fighting each other, villages were burning everywhere — it was hard to find a proper village.

"A perfect place to relieve the stress I built up from Kazuma’s party."

As soon as I arrived in the Heian Era, I went on a rampage, cutting down and blowing up nearby special-grade curses and sorcerers, cleaning up the area. I dispatched them so quickly that they probably didn’t even understand why they died.

I had absorbed [Jack Sparrow’s Compass] and turned it into an ability, so no one could escape or block me. For the sorcerers and special-grade curses of the Heian Era, a time of nightmares had now begun.

Along the way, I also shared food with and healed people who had been harmed by curses. With [Enhancement] and [Absolute Ring], even just providing healing could easily cure those who had lost body parts.

"Thank you. How can I ever repay this kindness..."

"Are you a god?"

"Yeah, I’m a god. I descended because you all were so pitiful."

Annoyed by their questions, I answered like that and went on my way. It wasn’t entirely wrong, now that I was a god. As a result, I came to be called Hachiman (god of war), and my Divine Power gradually accumulated. The Heian Era had a syncretic faith blending Buddhism and Shinto — "Shinbutsu-shūgō" — which seemed to have caused this phenomenon.

’Hachiman, of all things — what a huge misunderstanding. Well, it’s not bad since Divine Power is accumulating, so I suppose it doesn’t matter.’

For several months, I lived in the Talaria RV, traveling across Japan and capturing or killing any special-grade curses and sorcerers I saw. As a result, I naturally became famous, and rumors spread among sorcerers — they ran away like mad at the mere sight of me. But they couldn’t escape my grasp.

"Hey, why are you running so hard? Now that you’ve caught my eye, your fate is already sealed. Don’t waste your energy — just die nicely."

When I leisurely followed the fleeing man and said that, he seemed to realize escape was impossible. He suddenly stopped running, flattened himself on the ground, and began to plead.

"P-please, spare me, Hachiman-sama. I have children to support... Th-that’s right! I know information that Hachiman-sama might need. If you’ll only spare my life..."

Not wanting to waste time, I grabbed his head and used [Mental Penetration] to read his memories. The "necessary information" he mentioned was just a rumor he’d heard that sorcerers were gathering in Kyoto to capture me.

"Oh ho? They’re gathering sorcerers to catch me? And you’re not even married, so what’s this about children to support?"

"Gasp! How did you... Could it be that you can even read memories... Are you truly a god?"

"You can find that out in the afterlife."

Slice! Thud!

As days passed, voices praising me grew louder, but the sorcerers’ situation was the opposite — so it was understandable that they were making plans. From my perspective, it was good. They were gathering on their own, so I didn’t have to waste time chasing them down.

I decided to head to Kyoto slowly. I thought they needed time to gather. So as I was traveling on foot, I noticed several non-sorcerers watching me.

I grabbed one and read his memories. He had been hired by a young woman in Kyoto to track my movements and report back. Of course, these men didn’t know who the young woman was.

I thought about killing them, but let them go. I don’t enjoy killing. My goal was only to deal with sorcerers and special-grade curses. I intended to refrain from unnecessary killing as much as possible.

Moving slowly like that, I spent my days saving people and my evenings delving deeply into jujutsu research. [Essence Understanding] was incredibly helpful — unlike with magic, my comprehension speed was on another level. If I ever had spare Ability Upgrade Tickets, I’d probably need to upgrade [Essence Understanding] first.

Then, a sorcerer with formidable presence audaciously blocked my path. He was a middle-aged man wearing a sedge hat and a yukata.

"Oh my, impressive? I never thought a sorcerer would appear before me when I wasn’t even looking for them. Are you an idiot? Or are you that confident in your abilities?"

"I see you for the first time, Hachiman. I’ve come to make a deal with you."

"A deal? What kind of deal?"

He bowed his head in greeting and continued.

"Thank you for hearing me out first. I was worried you might attack without question."

"I’m only doing this because of your courage. If what you say is trivial, your life ends here."

The sorcerer swallowed hard.

"Right now in Kyoto, numerous sorcerers and special-grade curses have joined forces, waiting to kill or seal you. I was genuinely shocked — I never thought sorcerers and curses could cooperate. You, who made that possible, interest me greatly."

"So?"

"Instead of being destroyed like this, how about becoming a cursed object and reviving later? I know a way to create cursed objects. I’ll revive you in the strongest body, of course."

This guy — it’s Kenjaku. No wonder he approached me without fear.

Kenjaku is the key figure manipulating all the events in Jujutsu Kaisen from behind the scenes — essentially the root cause of the story. Simply put, he’s the "mastermind," but unlike the hidden masterminds of other works, he’s a "active mastermind" who moves his own body and actively instigates events.

For hundreds of years, he has switched between different bodies, shaking jujutsu society, and is the one who designed the stage for countless tragedies, including the Shibuya Incident. Therefore, Kenjaku is not a simple puppet master, but is portrayed as an "active mastermind" who constantly acts to realize his ambition of reshaping the world according to his will.

"You’re an interesting fellow. Do you think I’ll lose to those guys?"

"Yes. Among those gathered in Kyoto, there are some extremely powerful individuals. Including, like you, one called ’Incarnated Deity’ — Ryomen Sukuna."

That was quite interesting information. I never thought Ryomen Sukuna would join hands with the sorcerers of Kyoto.

Ryomen Sukuna is the most powerful being in the Jujutsu Kaisen world, often called the "King of Curses." He is a legendary sorcerer and curse who has been active since the Heian Era, becoming a symbol of fear by slaughtering countless sorcerers and humans. He is not just a physically strong monster — he also possesses overwhelming intelligence and strategic thinking. If Kenjaku is the mastermind, think of Ryomen Sukuna as the final boss.

But no matter how strong he is, he’s no match for me.

"You thought I’d be afraid of those kinds of guys? You’re delusional. No matter how much they struggle, they’re just insects before me. I’ve been operating without hiding my power. You have no idea what that means."

As I spoke, I released [Stealth]. The enormous amount of mana hidden within me began to pour out. The air and ground around me began to tremble, centered on my position.

GRRRRR...

Kenjaku collapsed on the spot, his voice trembling as he spoke.

"Th-this can’t be... What is this power... Ugh, hgk!"

He seemed so shocked that he suddenly began to vomit. I frowned and spoke.

"How rude. To vomit in front of someone you’re speaking with."

"You... you’re not human. How could you have this kind of power... Are you truly a god?"

"Yeah. Well, to be precise, I’m a foreign god. Not from this world."

Hearing my words, Kenjaku began to regret deeply.

"Th-then... I’ve made a mistake. If I had known more about your existence, instead of making such a proposal, I would have just fled to another country."

"Regret is pointless now, Kenjaku."

When I spoke his name, Kenjaku flinched.

I immediately used [Telekinesis] to compress Kenjaku to the size of a flea, then roasted him with the [Glint-Glint Fruit] ability. I could have stolen various jujutsu techniques from him, but since Kenjaku hadn’t yet obtained anything particularly notable, there was nothing worth taking.

’Really, I have no need for a technique that just transfers your brain to take over another body...’

Several days passed since that incident. As I was nearing Kyoto, another sorcerer appeared. This time, some lewd woman came in a carriage.

"So you’re Hachiman! You’re very handsome."

She was wearing only a long haori with elaborate patterns over her naked body. She jumped out of the carriage, ran to me, and hugged me.

"I want to teach you love!"

I pried her off and said,

"What nonsense. I already know love."

"Eh? Really?"

"Even if I didn’t know love, I wouldn’t need it from a lewd woman like you."

Seeing how she acted — this was Yorozu. In the original, she fell for Sukuna; here, she’s doing this to me.

Most sorcerers of the Heian Era were far from normal. It was an era where power was logic, so many committed murder as a daily occurrence, and there was almost no human morality. So when I dealt with them, I didn’t feel much guilt.

Yorozu was a representative figure of such an era — a female sorcerer who was hard to consider sane. In the original, she obsessed over Sukuna, showing madness in the name of love, pushing her own technique to its limits, making destruction and obsession her entire life.

Anyway, at my words, Yorozu shouted to her servants waiting in the carriage.

"Hey! Get me some clothes!"

"Yes ma’am!"

The servants, familiar with Yorozu’s temperament, moved quickly.

"Wait here. I’ll go get dressed."

Yorozu went to the carriage and, with the servants’ help, quickly put on clothes. I watched in disbelief.

"Ta-da~! How do I look? Not so lewd now, am I?"

Dressed up, Yorozu came before me, spun around, and showed off.

"What exactly did you come here for? You seem to know who I am — did you come here to die?"

"I told you earlier. I came to teach you love. Let us become husband and wife."

"Just go back. I’d rather not kill someone who shows me goodwill right away, so I’ll give you one chance. If we meet again, consider yourself dead. I intend to eliminate every last sorcerer and special-grade curse."

"So that means eventually, you’ll kill me too?"

Yorozu seemed to think I was a sorcerer.

"Sorry, but I have no intention of dying. I’m not a sorcerer."

Yorozu looked incredulous.

"That’s ridiculous... Then what are you?"

"Me? Just a god from another world."

"Come now... Are you so powerful that you’ve become arrogant? Or do you just want to believe that?"

As expected, Yorozu didn’t believe it. Then again, even I wouldn’t easily believe such a claim.

"Instead of that, how about going somewhere nice to eat with me? It’s almost lunchtime. I’m tired from coming all this way."

Yorozu was right — it was almost lunchtime.

"Indeed, it’s lunchtime."

I used [Telekinesis] to carve out a large chunk of earth, shaped it into a table and chairs, used [Material Manipulation] to turn them into stone, and laid out food from my inventory on top. Yorozu was astonished by this feat.

"How did you..."

"Don’t ask. It’s annoying. Just eat and leave. By the way, are those people your servants?"

"Ye-yes."

I gestured for them to come over and handed them lunchboxes.

"You didn’t have to... You’re surprisingly kind."

Ignoring Yorozu’s comments, I just ate. Yorozu sat down at the table and ate too, marveling the whole time.

"No way... How can food this delicious exist? How did you make it?"

"You have a Construction technique, don’t you? Just memorize it and make it yourself."

"How do you know my technique..."

Yorozu was surprised that I knew her technique despite her never mentioning it. She seemed about to ask how I knew, but realizing I probably wouldn’t answer, she just continued eating and grumbled.

"Using cursed energy to make food would be such a waste..."

Yorozu’s technique was Construction — a overpowered ability that allows one to create matter from nothing using cursed energy. However, it consumes enormous cursed energy and puts great strain on the body. It was hard enough just to create necessary items — using Construction to cook and eat was out of the question.

After the meal, I took out ice cream from my inventory for dessert. Again, Yorozu was impressed.

"How can ice taste this good..."

"Eat up and leave. Don’t be a nuisance."

"So mean. Well, I’ll stop here for today. See you next time."

"Next time we meet, you will die by my hand."

"Don’t be so harsh. We had a nice meal together today — it was fun."

This girl seemed difficult to reason with.

"You were the only one having fun. And I warned you in advance. There won’t be a second time."

At that, Yorozu left with a sulky expression.

After sending her off, I walked for about another day and finally arrived in Kyoto. I figured I’d given them enough time — they should have gathered in full.
