Chapter 83: Cursed Blader (1)
Nobody stood inside Ren’s chamber with his arms crossed. The new black shirt looked surprisingly good on him. Even he couldn’t stop looking at it. But still he couldn’t shake off that thought.
He looked toward Ren. "So my next enemy is gonna be a humanoid one?!"
Ren nearly choked on his carrot. "What?"
"The final boss. The next big scary thing? The thing that’s gonna traumatize me."
Ren sighed. "Don’t worry. Your enemy won’t appear until the final stage."
Nobody immediately pointed. "You said that way too casually."
Ren ignored him.
Nobody narrowed his eyes. "Man...You scare me."
"Good."
"That’s not a good thing to say good." Nobody groaned. "Anyways. What’s today’s stage?"
Ren stood from his chair. His expression became slightly serious. "Today’s stage is different."
Nobody immediately became suspicious. That expression never led to anything good. "Different how?"
Ren folded his arms. "This stage will improve your battle awareness. And improve your dodging abilities."
Nobody blinked. "Dodging?"
Ren nodded. "Dodging."
Nobody pointed at himself. "But I already dodge."
Ren stared. Then pointed toward Nobody’s chest. "Aconite stabbed you."
Nobody immediately looked away. "That was one time."
"She stabbed you multiple times."
"Technicality."
Ren sighed. "Stage 6 exists for a reason. You rely too much on reacting. You need to start predicting. Reading movement, understanding attacks. Feeling danger before it arrives."
Nobody slowly nodded. That actually sounded useful. Then he remembered who was explaining it. Which meant suffering was coming.
He narrowed his eyes. "Ren."
"What?"
"What are you planning?"
The rabbit coach smiled. Nothing good ever followed that smile. "You’ll see."
Nobody immediately backed away. "Nope. I don’t trust that smile."
Ren ignored him. "This stage will help prevent you from getting hit like you did against Aconite."
Nobody shuddered. The memory alone hurt. "Man. I hope this stage doesn’t fk me the way those demoness stingers did."
Ren raised an eyebrow.
Nobody froze. "...Wait."
Ren stared.
Nobody stared. "....." Nobody immediately waved both hands. "WAIT. THAT IS NOT HOW I MEANT IT."
Ren slowly nodded. "Sure."
"No seriously."
"I know."
"Then stop looking at me like that."
Ren laughed. "Relax. I know what you meant."
Nobody sighed in relief.
Then....

[TUTORIAL STAGE 6 LOADING]

Purple pixels surrounded him. "Oh no."
FLASH.
His body dissolved into particles.
A moment later....
Nobody landed on scorching sand.
FWOOOSH.
Hot wind swept across the landscape. The sun hung high above. Dunes stretched endlessly in every direction.
Nothing but sand. Sand and more sand.
Nobody slowly stood. "Great. Now a desert." He summoned his twin crowbars.
CLINK.
CLINK.
They appeared in his hands. Nobody immediately entered a combat stance. Experience had taught him something important.
If a stage looked peaceful...it wasn’t.
A loud screech suddenly echoed across the sky.
SKREEEEEEEEEEE!
Nobody looked up.
Something huge flew overhead. The shadow alone covered dozens of meters. ƒreewebɳovel.com
"What the hell is that?!"
The system immediately appeared.

Nobody slowly lowered the system window. "..." Then said,"...That explains why Ren said this stage would improve my dodging."
Far above the monster circled. Its body resembled a giant metallic bird. But something about it felt wrong. Its head wasn’t truly birdlike. Its face looked sharper.
Artificial. Almost weapon-like. Its entire body shimmered like forged steel. And every feather on its wings looked like a razor blade. There were thousands of them.
Nobody pointed upward. "DAMN YOU REN!"
Far away inside the tutorial chamber Ren smiled while eating a carrot. "You’re welcome."
....
SKREEEEEEEE!
The Skyblader suddenly folded its wings. Then dove extremely fast.
Nobody barely had time to react.
SWISH!
A blade feather launched toward him.
Then another.
Then another.
Then twenty more.
The sky became silver.
"Oh crap!" Nobody jumped sideways.
WHOOSH!
The blades slammed into the sand.
BOOM!
Sand exploded upward. More blades followed.
SWISH!
SWISH!
SWISH!
Nobody sprinted.
Jumped.
Rolled.
Twisted.
The attacks continued relentlessly. Then something strange happened.
His body moved naturally and effortlessly.
One blade flew toward his face. He tilted slightly.
The blade missed.
Another came from behind. He stepped aside.
Missed again.
Another.
And another.
And another.
Missed.
Missed.
Missed.
Nobody blinked. "...Huh?"
The monster continued attacking. Yet his body kept avoiding everything. Almost automatically.
A blade shot beneath him. Nobody jumped. Then to his complete shock he landed on the flying blade. "What?!"
The blade continued traveling. Nobody used it like a stepping stone.
Then jumped again.
Another blade.
Another jump.
Another step.
The Skyblader screeched in confusion.
Nobody was equally confused. "The hell?! Why am I able to dodge them like this?"
Another attack came. Nobody twisted.
The blades missed by millimeters. Yet he never felt danger.
Instead everything seemed clearer.
Slower and more predictable. His eyes widened.
Far away Ren smirked. "You still don’t get it, huh?"
.....
Back in the desert Nobody landed smoothly. His breathing remained calm.
Even he noticed that something had changed.
The poison, the training, the battles. Everything was beginning to accumulate. His body wasn’t merely stronger. His instincts were evolving. A blade launched toward his blind spot.
Yet somehow he sensed it. Before seeing it. Before hearing it. He simply knew.
SWISH!
He ducked. The blade passed overhead. Nobody froze. "...No way."
Another attack.
He reacted instantly.
Then another.
Then another.
The pattern became obvious. His body moved before his brain fully processed the threat.
The realization hit him. "Oh. Ohhh."
The Skyblader wasn’t slower. He was faster.
Not physically but also mentally. His awareness had improved. His senses had sharpened. His instincts had evolved.
The weeks spent resisting Aconite’s poison. The endless combat and the life-or-death
battles. All of it had changed him.
Nobody slowly grinned. Then looked toward the giant flying monster.
The Skyblader screeched aggressively. Preparing another storm of blades.
Nobody pointed a crowbar at it. "Okay. I get it now."
The monster launched hundreds of blades. The sky became so filled with them that it almost looked silver.
Nobody gave a confident smile. One he rarely wore. Then he stepped forward.
"Let’s see if you can actually hit me."
