Chapter 1119: Chapter 1119: Blind Date Candidate
After dinner, Vincent Warner held Stella Charlie’s hand as they walked out of the restaurant: "I’ll take you back first."
Stella Charlie shook her head with a smile: "No need, you go ahead, it’s getting late, better to go and come back early. I’m on my way to the supermarket to buy something, and I’ll take a cab back later."
Vincent Warner took off his coat and handed it to Stella Charlie: "Then put on the coat, don’t catch a cold."
"Okay."
"I won’t take too long, I’ll be back as soon as I can."
"Alright, stay safe on the road."
After watching Vincent Warner drive away, Stella Charlie headed towards a nearby department store.
Halfway there, she received a phone call from her neighbor, a kind middle-aged woman whom Stella always regarded as a senior family member.
"Mrs. Durand, is there something you need? Did you enjoy your vacation?"
"Stella, I’m back from my trip. Are you home? I’d like to chat with you."
Stella Charlie assumed that Mrs. Durand just wanted to share some interesting stories from her vacation, and with a smile, she replied: "I’m buying some things at the supermarket, I’ll come find you when I’m back."
After returning home, Stella Charlie put her things down and went to meet Mrs. Durand.
After a bit of small talk, Mrs. Durand said: "I have a friend, and her son is still single. I learned a bit about him and feel that he might be a good match for you. If you’re free tomorrow, can I introduce you two?"
This wasn’t the first time Mrs. Durand worried about Stella Charlie’s life choices, Stella replied with a smile: "Thank you, Mrs. Durand, but I’m already married."
To her surprise, Mrs. Durand didn’t believe her at all: "Don’t think you can fool me so easily, who’d you marry in such a short time?"
Saying this, she took out a few photographs from her bag and handed them to Stella Charlie: "Look, this young man is quite handsome and comes from a well-to-do family. If it goes well, you won’t have to work so hard in the future."
Stella Charlie was momentarily shocked when she saw the man in the photo because he was someone she knew all too well—her current husband.
Recalling that during dinner, Vincent Warner’s mother also mentioned him going on a blind date...
So Vincent Warner’s blind date was actually her?
Mrs. Durand thought Stella Charlie had taken a liking to the young man in the photos, so she continued: "I know his mother quite well, and she’s quite anxious about his marriage. I’ve even mentioned a bit about you to her, and she seems to be pretty satisfied with you, even though she hasn’t seen your photo. If she saw how pretty you are, she’d definitely like you even more."
Stella Charlie gave a dry laugh, thinking thankfully she hadn’t given any photos. Otherwise, no matter how much Mrs. Durand praised her, it would all be for naught if Vincent’s mother saw it was her.
"So, Stella? Want to meet him tomorrow?"
Stella was silent for a moment, then nodded: "Sure, may I take these photos with me?"
Seeing Stella nod in agreement, Mrs. Durand was overjoyed: "Of course you can. So, we are set for lunch together tomorrow?"
"Alright, thank you, Mrs. Durand."
Stella Charlie thought, she and Vincent Warner would need to face these things together.
On the other side, Vincent Warner was listening to his mother’s nagging all the way in the car, and finally arrived at the hotel.
"We’re here," Vincent Warner gently reminded.
Mom Warner didn’t get out of the car, stubbornly saying: "That girl is really nice, the one introduced by Mrs. Durand, works in translation, and is said to be very pretty. Mrs. Durand said if she had a son, she would have made this girl her daughter-in-law long ago."
Vincent Warner replied blandly: "If that’s what you’re looking for, she also works in translation and is very pretty."
Mom Warner frowned: "How many years has it been? What kind of spell did that vixen cast on you?!"
Vincent Warner: "Rest early."
Seeing Vincent Warner remain obstinate, Mom Warner angrily got out of the car, slamming the door as she went.
