Chapter 1081: Chapter 1081: Was She Too Naive?
After learning Vincent Warner was there, Stella Charlie couldn’t help but keep glancing in that direction.
She saw a woman in a slim-fitting black dress walking over there, stopping beside Vincent Warner, and speaking to him softly.
The woman’s attire was luxurious, her demeanor elegant, not like a subordinate, or a colleague, and certainly not just an ordinary friend...
"Little sister, why are you so absent-minded? Come on, have a toast to Brother Jacobs."
Kai Jacobs glared at the person, annoyed: "You’re just trying to make me drink, aren’t you?"
Stella Charlie withdrew her gaze, but her thoughts couldn’t follow suit.
Soon after, a message from Vincent Warner appeared on her phone: "Meet me at the parking lot." freewebnσvel.cѳm
"...Senior, I need to leave first. Happy birthday, I’ll make it up to you with a gift another day."
"Your presence is the best gift I could ask for." Though surprised Stella was leaving so early, Kai Jacobs didn’t press further, only saying: "Let me see you off."
"No need, no need, you’ve been drinking. I’ll just take a cab. Have fun everyone."
"Message me when you get home."
"Okay."
When Stella Charlie headed to the parking lot, Vincent Warner hadn’t come out yet.
She stood alone at the intersection, looking down at her phone.
Yvonne Quincy and her group of friends approached from the direction of the parking lot: "Isn’t this Classmate Charlie? What are you doing standing here like a streetwalker?"
"Could it be that she’s been dumped by her sugar daddy and is looking for a new wealthy man?"
Stella Charlie looked up at them, remained silent, and quietly stepped aside.
"To catch a big fish, you’ve got to set a long line. If you’re here looking for a sugar daddy, at least dress decently. Who’s going to take you seriously in such cheap clothing?"
"How naive and audacious, trying to seduce someone from the Warner family. Do you really think they’d let a woman like you into the family?"
"Stella."
A gentle male voice called from not far away.
Everyone turned toward Vincent Warner, who was staring intently at Stella Charlie, saying to her: "Let’s go, this way."
Stella Charlie quickly lowered her head and hurried past Yvonne Quincy and her friends to Vincent Warner’s side.
One of the girls with Yvonne Quincy murmured: "Isn’t that the second young master of the Warner family?"
"She really struck it lucky, that despicable woman!"
Yvonne Quincy sneered: "Don’t worry, it won’t last long. If Vincent Warner actually married a woman like her, it’d be a disgrace to the family. It’s just a fling."
Stella Charlie trailed slightly behind Vincent Warner.
She had so much she wanted to say, yet found herself hesitating, unsure of where to even begin.
There were some things she wasn’t sure if she had the right to ask.
"Were those girls your friends just now?" Vincent Warner was the first to speak.
Stella Charlie immediately quelled the words in her heart, shook her head, and with a forced and bittersweet smile, said: "They said...I’m your kept woman."
Vincent Warner paused as he opened the car door: "Avoid dealing with them. Get in the car."
Stella Charlie couldn’t hide the disappointment in her eyes, and the forced smile on her lips faded away.
But Vincent Warner didn’t meet her gaze.
Stella Charlie thought that by saying this, Vincent Warner would admit they were in a normal relationship.
Even if he just said it to her, it would be enough.
But he clearly avoided the issue.
As the car drove out of the parking lot, Stella Charlie kept her head turned, looking out the window, her eyes moist and reddened.
The hopes and dreams she once had about her future with Vincent Warner had all turned into unease.
Was she being too naive?
