Chapter 300: Chapter 300: Someone’s Life Is at Stake!
Radiant Group is renowned in Stellerton, and Fiona Vaughn is also known as the nation’s first love. However, people only know that Fiona Vaughn is Gregory Vaughn’s daughter, but when it comes to other members of the Vaughn Family, they know next to nothing.
Even though Cecilia Vaughn hit the trending list twice, people only just recently got a vague idea of her as the Eldest Miss Vaughn, the daughter from the first marriage, but the specifics of who she is or what she looks like remain unknown.
As for Evan Vaughn, he is even closer to the periphery, with no one knowing that he is Gregory Vaughn’s own son.
People never associated Evan Vaughn’s last name with the Radiant Group. Plus, he usually lived a low-key life, leading others to simply assume he was a child of a middle-class family.
...
The way everyone looked at Evan Vaughn changed instantly.
"Tsk tsk, I really didn’t expect it. Evan Vaughn’s sister is like that, and Evan himself is also a maniac! What kind of a coward hits women!"
"Exactly, he always says he has a heart condition, can’t shoulder burdens or lift heavy things, and even the homeroom teacher says he doesn’t have to carry water buckets. Actually, he’s got plenty of strength and can even throw punches at women!"
His classmates stared at Evan Vaughn’s now-pale face and laughed coldly.
Some of the boys had never liked him, especially since Evan Vaughn had that gentle, pretty-boy look and was favored by female teachers due to his heart condition, which was unbearable!
"Forget all that, who could accept having a classmate who’s the brother of a murderer? I can’t!"
"Exactly, last time Oakhaven University had a dormitory murder case. The more refined and calm people look, the scarier they are underneath! Evan Vaughn’s sister is like that; maybe the whole family has violent tendencies!"
Mentioning the high-profile university murder case, a few classmates who wanted to speak up for Evan suddenly shivered and silently took a step back.
"Ah, antisocial personality disorder is said to be hereditary! The silent killers are the most terrifying. I don’t want to share the same air with Evan Vaughn!"
Happening to sit next to Evan, Cynthia Keaton also heard their discussions. Her face turned pale, but she still weakly defended the boy.
"Uh... aren’t you guys being too hasty? Classmate Vaughn isn’t like that, and none of you have even met his sister. What if someone purposely framed her?"
"Hah, flies don’t land on seamless eggs... Cynthia Keaton, how come no one calls you slurs or accuses you of being a murderer out of nowhere! I think Evan’s sister just doesn’t know how to behave!"
A boy gave Cynthia’s pure and lovely face an unkind look, the leering smile on his face almost making her want to throw up!
"Cynthia, are you defending them because you wanna try being a bad girl too... hahaha..."
"You lot, have some shame—"
Cynthia stomped her foot in anger, ready to say more, but a somewhat slender figure stepped in front of her.
Startled, she raised her eyes to see the nearly icy glint in Evan Vaughn’s eyes.
"Evan... Classmate Vaughn, are you okay?"
She hesitated, trying to reach for his sleeve, aware that Evan was not in a calm state.
But Evan paid her no heed, his black eyes fixed on the boy spewing the insults.
"What did you say? Got the guts to say it again?"
The boy couldn’t stand people like Evan Vaughn. Several girls he liked secretly admired Evan and even wrote him love letters and sent him snacks!
But Evan, looking down on it all, returned each love letter and handed the snacks to classmates, this fake modesty winning him even more girls’ favor.
Bah, Evan’s just a pretty boy, looks a bit handsome, but he’s so weak. Those girls have no vision!
Refusing their love letters might be because he’s not man enough under those pretty-boy looks. Otherwise, why so righteously refuse their affections!
With a rogue air, the boy lifted his chin, arrogantly looking down on Evan Vaughn.
"I said it. What are you gonna do?"
"Your sister’s just a tramp and a murderer; in jail, she’s been used up by everyone!"
"As for you, must not be a good person either, with no morals. Why else would you have a congenital heart disease? I’d say it’s karma for past life’s sins!"
The air instantly thickened with tension!
Evan Vaughn stared piercingly at the boy, his eyes almost blood-red.
The nearby people were startled by his nearly cannibalistic gaze, the boy included. But remembering Evan had a heart condition, couldn’t carry a five-gallon bucket, he stood his ground.
"What are you staring at? Big eyes don’t mean a thing!"
"Stop acting tough. Feel free to hit me, coward—"
The boy’s words cut off as Evan suddenly smiled chillingly, showing bone-white teeth.
"That’s right, I want you dead—"
Stellerton First High was considering expanding a campus building, a brick was near Evan’s ankle.
He sneered, picking up the reddish brick and throwing it hard at the boy leading the insults.
"Ah, pretty boy, you dare hit me—"
The leader stared in disbelief, feeling a gush of crimson blood from his head.
Hiss, it hurt.
"I’m hitting you!"
Evan coldly smiled, his red-stained black eyes particularly intimidating.
The girls backed away scared, and though someone considered intervening, just one look from Evan stopped them.
The taunting boy, boiling with rage, grabbed another brick, throwing it at Evan.
"Damn it, little bastard, think I won’t retaliate?"
Evan took the hit with a thud but didn’t back off; instead, he pressed forward, kicking the boy square between the legs!
"Argh, you should die—"
The two tangled into a brawl, soon covered in blood.
Barefoot fears not leather shoes; the strong-bodied boy couldn’t keep up with Evan’s reckless fighting, crying for mercy.
"I give up, I give up, stop hitting..."
"Apologize to my sister!"
"Okay... I’m sorry... It was my foul mouth..."
Evan stepped on his ribs, coldly chuckling, but ultimately collapsed from exhaustion.
The girls screamed, panic rising as they considered calling the police.
"Ah, someone’s gonna die, help—"
