Chapter 2545: Chapter 686: Ambiguity
Yinxing made a soft sound of acknowledgment, then said, "I’ll wait for you."
When Yinxing turned around, she saw that Xia Ye still hadn’t left.
He was still standing there, neither too far nor too close.
His gaze was deep as he looked at Yinxing.
Yinxing walked over and spoke: "Why aren’t you going back to your room?"
Xia Ye said, "What about you?"
"My room card is with Senior Brother, it’s not lost. I’ll just wait for them to come back here. You go back to your room first."
Xia Ye’s brows furrowed imperceptibly.
The aura around him seemed to suddenly drop a few degrees.
Xia Ye’s voice was like it had ice shards mixed in: "You’re sharing a room with him?"
Yinxing hurriedly said, "No, he’s across the hall. I just forgot to take my room card this morning, so he helped me keep it."
Yinxing explained anxiously.
But then suddenly felt it was totally unnecessary.
Maybe Xia Ye was just asking out of curiosity, so why was she acting guilty?
Yinxing coughed. "This doesn’t really have anything to do with you anyway."
In fact, Yinxing didn’t even know if Xia Ye and Zhu Jia Jia were staying in the same room.
They’d already spent the night together before; presumably they’d been living together for a while now.
The more Yinxing thought about it, the more it stabbed at her heart.
But what showed on her face was a hint of impatience.
Yinxing said, "Hurry up and go back to your room."
Xia Ye said, "Come back to my room with me first. It’s not really good for you to stand here alone."
Yinxing refused: "It’s fine, I’ll just wait here."
Xia Ye scrutinized Yinxing up and down, then said, "You’re sure you’re going to just stand here like this and wait?"
Yinxing glanced down at herself and finally realized what was wrong.
When they were coming back just now, they’d run into a downpour.
Yinxing was already soaked through.
The worst part was, today she was only wearing a thin silk blouse.
Once drenched by the rain, it had basically turned transparent.
Even the flesh-colored camisole underneath could be seen clearly.
And Yinxing had noticed it too.
People passing by them one after another in the corridor kept giving Yinxing strange looks.
Those looks made Yinxing feel extremely uncomfortable.
So Yinxing no longer rejected Xia Ye’s suggestion.
She followed Xia Ye back to his room.
After entering, Yinxing realized Xia Ye’s room was very big, practically a suite.
A full suite like this could easily accommodate several people.
Yinxing didn’t pay too much attention to it.
Anyway, no matter what.
Right now Zhu Jia Jia was Xia Ye’s legitimate girlfriend; she had no right to interfere.
But for a moment, the sour ache in her chest was impossible to suppress—it was only natural.
Afraid she’d start overthinking,
Yinxing sat down on the sofa, casually picked up a magazine from the coffee table, and flipped through it absentmindedly.
Xia Ye, meanwhile, went into the bathroom.
Soon the sound of running water came from the bathroom.
Xia Ye was probably taking a shower.
Xia Ye wasn’t really avoiding her much.
But then, thinking about it, aside from the fact that they used to be a couple, right now they were "brother and sister."
That only went to show that, in Xia Ye’s heart, he was already completely at ease with their relationship.
Besides, Xia Ye had been drenched by the rain too; he must be feeling awful.
The sound of water kept coming from that side.
Through the door you could also see the curling steam and vaguely hear muffled sounds.
In Yinxing’s mind, scenes from three years ago surfaced—when the two of them lived alone in that small apartment near campus.
A single man and a single woman sharing one space; ambiguous things were bound to happen.
And a lot of things, it seemed, had happened while one of them was in the shower.
