Chapter 871: Chapter 871: Threatening Them
"How did I do today?"
When Serena Sullivan came out, Renee Grant happily came over to claim credit.
After she received the photos Serena sent, she’d wanted nothing more than to rush over and settle scores with Felix Lockwood.
But what Serena was doing alone wouldn’t solve anything, so she let her bring these photos to the Ford Family banquet and make a scene!
"Mm."
"I’ve already taken Felix’s hair and blood, along with that illegitimate daughter’s and that bitch’s, and sent them for testing. We’ll have the results soon."
Renee had lived with Felix for so many years, and she was madly in love with him. How could she not get hold of his hair and the like?
Serena had told Felix she was using Sean Lockwood’s; that was just to fool him.
"But if the illegitimate daughter was born before Sean, then it doesn’t count as cheating during the marriage."
Renee said worriedly, "I won’t be able to win this lawsuit."
"You don’t need to fight any lawsuit. Just use the results to threaten them."
Serena replied with a faint smile, "Felix might not be afraid, but Mrs. Kane definitely will be."
Even though the Dowager Kane had suffered a stroke and Wayne Jennings was dead, those Ford relatives were still around, and Mr. Kane was still there too.
How could they possibly be willing to accept Mrs. Kane controlling the Ford Family!
What’s more, Mrs. Kane hadn’t been in control of the Ford Family for very long, which meant her footing at Kane Group still wasn’t stable enough.
So, if Renee used the final results to threaten her, how could Mrs. Kane not be afraid!
Renee’s eyes lit up. She understood what Serena meant. She thanked Serena, then turned to get into the car, and before getting in, she gave Claire Sullivan, who was standing dazed behind Serena, an apologetic nod.
She and Claire had once had no grudges between them, but for a man—a man who wasn’t even worth loving—she came to hate Claire, and even caused her own younger brother to suffer so much.
Now that she had figured it out, she knew Ethan Grant and Serena could never forgive her, and she also tried her best not to bring up the past. What mattered most now was getting her own money back from Felix.
After a divorce, a life without money is what’s truly terrifying.
After Renee drove off, Claire wanted to take the same car as Serena; she had too many questions she wanted to ask.
Simon Sterling and Ethan Grant could see very clearly what was going on, and Wyatt Sterling had more or less guessed it as well.
"We’ll talk when we get back." Simon spoke up; the car wasn’t the place for this conversation.
Claire had no choice but to ride in a different car from Serena. As soon as they got home, she anxiously went to Serena to ask what on earth was going on.
"Nina Monroe is Mrs. Kane and Felix Lockwood’s illegitimate daughter."
Serena confessed.
As she spoke, she watched Claire’s expression, afraid Claire wouldn’t be able to accept this fact.
In reality, Claire didn’t feel much of anything.
"Really?" Claire just felt puzzled, her mind full of questions.
She thought it over and felt it was actually quite possible.
"Mm. Back when we were in school, Wendy Monroe really liked Felix. They’d already been together before."
Back then, she had even tried to play matchmaker for Wendy and Felix.
She remembered helping Wendy ask Felix out. Before the date, Wendy had been over the moon, but when she came back she was crying her eyes out. When she asked Felix about it, Felix said he didn’t like Wendy.
And that’s where the problem lies.
"Didn’t Felix say he didn’t like Wendy? How did the two of them end up together?"
Claire couldn’t figure it out. If he didn’t like her, how could there be a child?
Judging from the girl’s age, she was about the same age as Serena and Wyatt.
Which meant that back in college, or around the time of Claire’s accident, they were already together.
"Not long after I came back to the Imperial Capital, Felix came to propose, and not long after that he married Renee. There’s no way that girl was born from Felix and Wendy’s affair during the marriage."
If she was, then it was marital infidelity.
Claire couldn’t wrap her mind around the fact that the older brother she’d grown up with and always admired turned out to be such a hypocritical man.
