Chapter 1379: Chapter 1373: Premature Menopause

At the dining table, Titus Zane had a frosty expression, specifically directed at Nathan Moore.

The success of their creation and Sophie Foster’s return was worth celebrating, so she brought out the red wines Nathan had been saving.

Drinking his treasured wine didn’t distress Nathan; in the past few years, when she was confined by him, she had already wreaked havoc, starting with a bottle a day, sometimes more.

Yet she smiled at everyone, except when she turned to him, her face immediately turned cold.

Knowing his previous attitude was a bit excessive, he had already self-reflected when Titus got angry. Still, it seemed his behavior wasn’t up to the mark.

Nathan sighed, clinked glasses with his brothers, and picked up a piece of fish belly with his chopsticks, placing it on Titus’ small plate.

"Honey, the doctor said pregnant women should eat more high-protein foods for smarter babies."

Titus had been smiling as she hosted the other three women at the table, and when Nathan made a gesture of goodwill, her face instantly turned cold again.

"Evander is also a doctor, but why don’t you see him making Sophia eat more fish?"

With one sentence from Titus, Evander Lancaster and Sophia Hamilton unwittingly got caught in the crossfire.

During her pregnancy, Sophia’s favorite was beef, though she could eat fish too, but meat was preferable. So Evander was also intentionally encouraging her to eat more. Now, with Titus’s remark, it felt like an unexpected hit.

To ease the awkward situation, Evander immediately placed a piece of fish on Sophia’s plate, saying, "Honey, you should eat more fish too; it’s good for the baby."

Sophia...

She paused her eating, glanced at the fish with bones in her dish, and her already not-so-good mood worsened. She picked up her dish and poured it back into Evander’s. "I can manage myself!"

Evander...

"You stubborn little donkey, acting up again?"

"Evander, haven’t you considered that Sophia might need to vent a little after such a scare?" Before Sophia could say anything, Titus already spoke up for her, glaring coldly at Evander, "You men are all the same. Sweet talk when you want to be comfortable, then immediately change your demeanor after you’ve had your way!"

"Pfft!"

"Cough, cough..."

Nicholas Croft choked on his food, and Felix Shaw spat out his just-taken bite.

Mia Foster patted Felix’s back lightly, chiming in sarcastically, clearly enjoying the spectacle, "Exactly, you men only care about your own comfort and don’t consider how hard it is for women with big bellies. Not being considerate is one thing, but shouting on top of that? No wonder Titus is angry."

Nathan...

If it wasn’t his brother’s woman, he would’ve wanted to strangle her right then! This is not how you add fuel to the fire. Had he known it would backfire like this; he wouldn’t have shared it with them. It would’ve been better enjoying just with his wife!

How could Nathan have realized that it was his over-indulgence towards his wife that caused this mess? He often showed off their love, and now, karma had returned.

"Nathan, starting today, I’m going to live separately from you!" Titus got even more fired up by Mia’s instigation, and Nathan was dumbstruck by her yell, while Evander was still lamenting his unfair involvement; now, he too laughed along.

Mia, even more pleased, raised her eyebrows in delight, fed a dish to Felix’s mouth after soothing him.

Watching Mia’s smugness, Nathan palmed his forehead. His woman was indeed too naïve; it was his wit and knack for manipulation that shielded her. Otherwise, she’d probably even thank the third brother’s woman for selling her off.

Sophia Hamilton, who had limited interactions with the others, was puzzled by their dynamic. While stuffing food in her mouth, she curiously observed their interactions and wondered to herself, aren’t they good brothers? Why are they undermining each other?

Seeing through her thoughts, Evander filled her bowl to a mountain and comforted her, "Don’t mind them, just eat more."

"Third Bro, is this how you usually manage your woman?" Nathan asked suggestively. Felix Shaw, reacting quickly, swallowed the dish Mia fed him and replied lazily, "Second Bro, women are meant to be pampered."

"Hubby, have some more of this." Mia fed Felix another bite in reward.

Nicholas Croft sipped his wine slowly, remaining indifferent as if it had nothing to do with him.

Seeing Titus about to lose her temper with Nathan again, Sophie quickly scooped a spoonful of soup to Titus’s lips, "Sis Titus, drink more black-bone chicken soup; I drank it daily when I was pregnant."

Looking at the soup at her lips, Titus gave Nathan a fierce glare before opening her mouth, her face immediately brightening with a smile towards Sophie, "Thanks, Lara, you should eat more too. Look how thin you’ve become, it’s time to replenish some nutrition."

Worried he might get scolded too, Nicholas quickly pretended to speak casually, "Sister-in-law, Lara only listens to you; no matter how earnestly I try to persuade her at home, she only eats a tiny bit each day, not even as much as a cat."

After Nicholas spoke, Evander secretly gave him a thumbs-up. The praise was indeed skillfully given.

As Nicholas slightly smiled without showing it, he was filled with regret before his smile faded away entirely.

"No need to worry, Brother. Starting today, Lara will stay at my house. I promise to feed her plump within a month."

Nicholas...

It felt like shooting himself in the foot.

Nathan’s expression was no better either.

He initially thought the talk of separation was just anger; it seemed she was serious now.

Felix couldn’t help but laugh aloud. Ah, they say the clever are often undone by their own cleverness; maybe being a little less sharp isn’t so bad.

Yet Felix didn’t anticipate that his laugh would get him in trouble too. Titus gave him a cold glance and said, "Felix, with little Sophie back, we three sisters haven’t gathered in a long time. You can go home alone tonight, and Mia will stay; us sisters want a good gathering."

Felix...

He really wanted to smack himself for not holding back; now, he wouldn’t have his sweet-smelling wife to hold at night.

Evander worried Titus might leave Sophia too, and since his woman was about to give birth soon and couldn’t afford to stay up late, he hurriedly said, "Sister-in-law, my dear sister-in-law, Sophia can’t not be compared to you; Sophia she..."

"Evander, when did you become so fussy? Rest assured, I know my limits!" Titus interrupted Evander before he could finish, showing impatience and disdain.

Evander patted his weak little heart, secretly wondering, could sister-in-law’s menopause have come early? How could pregnancy change her personality so dramatically?

Of course, he only dared to think about it; he didn’t want to become cannon fodder.

What started as a pleasant dinner quickly turned into everyone silently eating their food after Titus’s words, and even the interest in drinking among the three men had vanished. Evander, needing to take Sophia home afterward, didn’t drink at all.
