Chapter 1308: Chapter 1303: Would She Go Mad After Seeing Sophie Foster’s New Identity?

After Hannah Hargrave finished speaking, Nicholas Croft’s handsome face instantly turned frosty, his dark eyes like two daggers, narrowly fixed on Hannah.

Hannah, sitting opposite him, acted as if she hadn’t seen it. She snapped the household registration book shut, shoved it back into his hand, then pressed her palm against his chest and smiled as she said, "No need to be so moved. I’m your wife. This is what I should do." freewebnσvel.cøm

After she spoke, Hannah deliberately patted Nicholas’s chest lightly. That spot was the closest to his heart, separated only by muscle.

From the icy gloom in Nicholas’s eyes, Hannah could feel his pain. To love and not obtain is one of life’s great regrets; then what about life and death partings—are those the kind of pain one can never cut away from in an entire lifetime?

Even knowing she was doing it on purpose, Nicholas had no choice but to temporarily endure it. He secretly clenched his teeth, bite marks standing out on both sides of his chiseled face, then suddenly switched to a smile and spoke to Hannah.

"Yes, I really should thank you, for doing so much for me without me even knowing."

"I already said it, we’re family. It’s what I should do."

Hannah folded her arms and raised her brows. After she finished, she couldn’t help covering her mouth as she yawned. Her hazy eyes looked at Nicholas as she asked, "I’m going to catch up on some sleep. Want to join me?"

Nicholas arched a handsome brow slightly. "You sleep first. I have things to take care of. I’ll see you tonight."

"Okay, see you tonight." Hannah waved her hand, turned, and headed toward her own room. When she passed Nicholas’s bedroom door, the guard squatting in front of it barked at her a few times. Hannah was so startled she instinctively jumped to the side and cursed through gritted teeth, "You beast! One of these days I might just stew you!"

"Woof woof woof woof..." Panda Eyes barked even more fiercely, and only stopped after Hannah closed her bedroom door. Then it wagged its tail and trotted over to Nicholas.

"You’ve worked hard." Nicholas patted Panda Eyes on the head and went downstairs with the household registration book in hand.

"Sir, when you’re not home, Panda Eyes just guards your bedroom door the whole time. Other than me going in to clean, no one else dares go near it."

Aunt Xu had somehow also been waiting in the hall. As she spoke, she sneaked a glance upstairs, then said apologetically, "I was the one who went in to get the household registration book... I really didn’t have a choice."

"I know." Nicholas nodded and was already walking toward the door.

"Woof woof," Panda Eyes barked twice and followed as well. When Nicholas stepped out of the house, he squatted down and patted its head. "I can’t take you with me. You have to stay and guard the house for me."

"Woof, woof woof." Panda Eyes seemed to understand him; it backed up two steps and barked at Nicholas a few times.

Nicholas had come back for the household registration book intending to help Sophie Foster change her name. He hadn’t expected that in the six months he’d been gone, Hannah Hargrave had actually canceled Sophie Foster’s household registration and moved her own in instead, and the infuriating part was that she’d even had the spouse field filled in.

Nicholas’s eyes narrowed again, and a trace of a smile suddenly appeared at the corners of his tightly pressed lips, looking disturbingly sinister.

Since you like the title "Mrs. Nicholas Croft" so much, then I’ll grant your wish!

Nicholas drove to the police station in the district that had jurisdiction. On the way over he had already put in a word with the chief, so helping Sophie Foster re-register her household didn’t take much effort. All the paperwork like old records and ID card procedures was waived, and her name was directly entered into the household registration book.

After finishing up, Nicholas walked out of the station. Looking at Sophie Foster’s brand-new "identity" in the household registration book, the corners of his lips tugged into a mocking arc. He wondered if Hannah would be so furious she’d go insane when she saw this identity.
