Chapter 393: Chapter 390: If My Son Doesn’t Look Like Me, Is He Supposed to Look Like You?
The words had barely left his mouth when the surrounding reporters froze in shock.
Everyone knew Quentin Grant was the calmest of men, someone who wouldn’t even furrow his brow no matter what disaster struck.
But today, he had actually cursed!
"These two are my biological sons."
The reporters unleashed another barrage of questions.
"We could tell already. They look so much like President Grant."
Quentin Grant scoffed. "Heh, if you could already tell, what the hell was the point of asking? Besides, if my sons don’t look like me, are they supposed to look like you?"
The male reporter was speechless, his face flushing with embarrassment.
Just then, Dylan Grant spoke up. "Uncles and aunties, could you please let our family go into the company now?"
His voice was soft and childlike.
The reporters all moved aside.
Nora Ainsworth held Elmer Grant the entire time without saying a word.
The moment they entered the first-floor lobby, every Grant Group employee’s gaze locked onto the family of four.
The whispers didn’t erupt until they had stepped into the elevator.
"Huh? Are those really President Grant’s kids?" Woman A asked.
"Of course. Nora Ainsworth is so lucky. She hid away for years with his kids," Woman B replied.
"If it were me, I’d hide for a few years too. It all depends on who the man is," Woman C added.
"You can want President Grant all you like, but he wouldn’t even give you a second glance," said Woman B.
Woman C was a little miffed. "Don’t talk about me, you’re no different. Honestly, Nora Ainsworth isn’t even that beautiful. There are plenty of women in our country prettier than her, but none of them have her luck. Look at her, all skinny and frail. What did she use to wrap our President Grant around her little finger?"
Woman A sighed. "Exactly. You can only say she’s lucky. If we had her luck, we wouldn’t be stuck here working reception for peanuts."
After leaving Grant Group, Nora Ainsworth decided against driving. She and the two boys walked to the crossroads and took a bus toward a large shopping mall.
She bought ten outfits for each of the boys and a few for herself, arranging for the shopping center to deliver them directly to her upscale residential complex. After paying, Nora was about to call Leon Lynch, but as luck would have it...
"Mommy, isn’t that Godfather?"
Nora followed Elmer’s gaze and saw that it was indeed him.
He was dressed in casual clothes, sitting on a sofa, seemingly waiting for someone.
"Leon."
Leon Lynch seemed dazed for a moment, then looked around before his eyes finally landed on Nora.
He stood up and walked toward them.
"You’re back?"
"Mhm, we just got back yesterday. We came to buy some clothes. I just had them sent home and was about to call you when our youngest said, ’Isn’t that Godfather?’ What a coincidence. Are you here to buy clothes too?"
Leon Lynch shook his head. "No, it’s... my mom brought Maeve Sutton here to shop. I didn’t want to come, but she insisted on dragging me along."
Nora nodded and smiled. "What, are you and Maeve seeing each other?"
"No."
"She’s... not so bad, actually..."
"There are plenty of good women, plenty of ’not so bad’ women. But they’re always good in someone else’s eyes, not mine..."
Just as Nora was about to speak, she saw Mrs. Lynch and Maeve walk out of the fitting rooms.
"They’re coming out."
Leon turned, about to head back, but saw Mrs. Lynch and Maeve walking straight toward them, their eyes wide with shock and disbelief.
"Nora Ainsworth? Is that you?" Mrs. Lynch frowned.
"Yes, it’s me."
"You have children? Don’t tell me they’re our Leon’s?" ’A thousand voices screamed in her mind, if Nora dares to say yes...’
Nora didn’t get a chance to answer before Dylan spoke up. "Grandma, what’s wrong with your eyes? Are they getting blurry with old age? You shouldn’t be running around outside at your age. Is my resemblance really that obvious? With which eye did you see a resemblance to our godfather?"
Mrs. Lynch’s mind short-circuited. ’Such a young child... could actually... speak so clearly and logically?’
"Godfather? He’s your godfather? Then who is your biological father?"
Dylan calmly uttered two words: "Quentin Grant."
Hearing this, Mrs. Lynch felt a sense of relief, but she was still displeased. "Nora Ainsworth, you certainly know how to pick your men. I never thought you’d actually have his children."
"That’s no concern of yours, Mrs. Lynch."
Maeve Sutton stood to the side, biting her tongue. ’I never would have imagined that my long-unseen former best friend was living a much better life than me, and had even found such a capable man!’
Seeing that Nora had no intention of speaking to her, Maeve couldn’t hold back any longer. "Nora, long time no see. I can’t believe you’re a mom now."
"That’s right. A woman should have kids early. Otherwise, the older you get, the harder it is to get your figure back. Especially for someone with your... barrel-shaped waist. Hey, you know, you used to be so slim. How did you get so chubby?"
Speaking of which, Maeve didn’t get angry. Instead, she replied with a beaming smile, "Of course, that’s all thanks to Auntie. She stews nourishing soups for me every day to create a fertile ground for pregnancy."
"But what good is fertile ground if you don’t have a seed?"
Maeve’s smile froze. She gritted her teeth. "That’s none of your business."
Leon turned to Mrs. Lynch and said, "Nora just got back. We’re going to have lunch together. Mom, you and Maeve can go home first."
Mrs. Lynch was reluctant. "Leon, you have plans with Maeve this afternoon to..."
"Just go home first."
Then, beaming, Leon scooped up one of the boys in each arm. "Tell Daddy, did you miss me?"
"Of course we did!"
"Then how about a kiss for Daddy?"
Each of the boys gave him a kiss, one on each cheek.
Leon’s heart felt as sweet as if he’d eaten a whole jar of honey. "Let’s go. We’ll all go eat together."
Mrs. Lynch and Maeve stood there, fuming as they watched the group walk away.
"Now that Nora Ainsworth has kids, we can relax. There’s no way Leon can be with her anymore."
"But... I don’t think Leon is over her at all."
"Nora Ainsworth is with Quentin Grant now, isn’t she? It’s only a matter of time before Leon accepts you. You’ve been devoted to him for so long. He’s not made of stone; he’ll warm up to you."
Although Maeve felt uncertain, she could only wait and see how things developed, letting nature take its course.
The four of them had a happy meal together. Afterward, Leon suggested they see a movie, so they bought tickets for a newly released romance film from Zenith Talent Agency titled *If Time Comes Back*.
When they entered the theater with their tickets, they discovered there were very few people inside.
"I heard this was a good movie. Why is it so empty?"
Nora chuckled lightly. "Online piracy is rampant these days. Most people watch illegal copies. While there are still fans who come to see the official version, there aren’t many of them."
After finding their seats, Leon glanced around and then said, "The ones who support the official release are on a higher moral plane."
