Chapter 368: Chapter 365: He Loves You More Than Anyone (4)
Fatty shyly stepped down. The teacher clapped. "Fatty did a great job! Who’s next?"
"..."
When class finally let out, Dylan Grant remembered the task his mommy had given him on the way there: take Dorothy Bancroft to the restroom.
As soon as class was over, he took Dorothy Bancroft to the restroom. Dorothy was surprised to see Nora Ainsworth inside one of the stalls.
"Auntie..."
"Dorothy, shh. Auntie needs a few strands of your hair and a little bit of blood, is that okay?"
Dorothy Bancroft was confused. "What do you need blood for, Auntie?"
Nora Ainsworth stroked her head. "I’ll tell you later, but can you please help Auntie right now? It’s an emergency."
Dylan Grant nodded. "Dorothy, my mommy won’t hurt you. Please help her, okay?"
Dorothy Bancroft bit her lip and nodded. "Okay."
A smile spread across Dylan Grant’s face. "You’re the best, Dorothy."
Dorothy Bancroft blushed a little. She pulled out a few strands of her own hair and handed them to Nora Ainsworth. Then, she rolled up her sleeve and said bravely, "Okay, Auntie. I’m not afraid of the pain."
Nora Ainsworth knelt and looked at her. "You’re so brave, Dorothy. Auntie just needs a tiny bit. Come on, close your eyes."
She obediently did as she was told.
Nora Ainsworth’s hands were trembling slightly, but she quickly drew the blood. Afterward, she pressed a cotton swab to the spot. "All done, Dorothy."
Then she took a saliva sample from Dorothy as well.
Dylan Grant’s little face scrunched up like a steamed bun. "Did it hurt?"
With tears in her eyes, she nodded. "It hurt for a second, but it doesn’t hurt anymore."
Nora Ainsworth packed the samples away, then swept the little girl into her arms. Looking at her, she said, "Don’t tell anyone about this. Auntie has a feeling you’re going to see your mommy very soon."
The little girl’s eyes lit up. "Really?"
Nora Ainsworth nodded emphatically. "Really."
Dorothy Bancroft smiled, her eyes still rimmed with red. "I miss my mommy."
Nora Ainsworth hugged her tightly and said nothing.
She left the kindergarten soon after, and the two children came out of the restroom together.
When they got back to the classroom, they found the junior class in a total uproar.
Getting closer, they found out that for the next extracurricular activity, the children had to act out a wedding scene. It required one child to be the officiant, a couple to be the bride and groom, and two flower children.
The roles of the officiant and flower children were already cast, but a disagreement had broken out over who would play the bride and groom.
Elmer Grant was tired of playing these kinds of roles and hadn’t planned on being in it. But when he opted out, none of the other girls were willing to be the bride for the other boys.
So, he ended up playing the part after all.
But the role of the bride was now a point of contention.
Melody White and Cindy were arguing over it. Cindy, being more aggressive, had slapped Melody, and a "bloody" war had erupted.
When Elmer Grant saw Melody get hit, he scolded Cindy.
Cindy was furious.
Just as Dylan Grant and Dorothy Bancroft walked over, they happened to hear Cindy screeching, "Elmer Grant, I have to be your bride! She got to be the bride last time, so it’s my turn now! I *have* to be your bride! If you don’t let me, I’m going to go home and tell my dad!"
Elmer Grant had a stubborn personality, just like Nora Ainsworth.
Hearing this, he no longer wanted to play with Cindy. "What’s telling your dad going to do?" he said.
"Elmer Grant, do you know who my dad is? He’s a very important man! If you play with me, I’ll bring you yummy snacks and give you money. Can Melody White do that for you?"
"Do you take me for a pretty boy who lives off women?!" It was hard not to chuckle at such a young child saying something like that.
"What’s a pretty boy who lives off women?" Cindy asked, confused.
"I’m not playing this stupid game anymore. It’s an insult to my intelligence. You guys can play by yourselves." Elmer Grant didn’t answer her, instead returning to his own seat.
Hearing this, Cindy’s face crumpled, and she burst into tears. She glared at Melody White. "This is all your fault! Are you happy now?"
Melody White didn’t say a word. But as she turned to leave, an infuriated Cindy shoved her to the ground.
"Melody!" Dorothy Bancroft rushed forward to help her up.
Elmer Grant thought Cindy had gone too far. "You already slapped Melody, and now you’re pushing her? I’m not playing with you anymore!"
Cindy let out a loud WAIL. "Elmer Grant, if you don’t play with me, I’ll kill myself for you to see!"
Elmer Grant sneered. "How old are you, talking about killing yourself? Fine, go ahead and die. When you’re dead, I’ll come and poop on your grave."
Cindy’s crying stopped abruptly. She sat down in her seat, fuming, and said to him resentfully, "I’m not going to die!"
Nora Ainsworth immediately returned and gave the samples to Ethan Ellsworth. The three of them rushed to the DNA testing center.
They also collected Ethan Ellsworth’s saliva, hair, and blood.
The testing center originally said the results would take a few days, but Ethan Ellsworth paid a hefty sum to have them expedited. They would be ready in just three or four hours.
The three of them stood outside the door and waited.
The wait was agonizing.
They were filled with anxiety, hoping the results would come out soon.
Around noon, the DNA report was finally ready.
The lab technician came out with the report and said, "It’s ready. After comparison, there’s a 99 percent probability. Paternity is confirmed. All three sample comparisons yielded the same result."
Hearing this, Nora Ainsworth’s face lit up with joy as she took the report and looked it over. Then she turned to the equally incredulous Ethan Ellsworth. "Don’t just stand there gawking. Let’s hurry back."
"I thought I was mentally prepared for this, but I never imagined... I really hit the jackpot on my first try!"
Nora Ainsworth pressed her lips together. "Even heaven couldn’t stand by and watch any longer. Let’s go. Don’t waste any more time."
Back at their residence, the three of them discussed their next move.
They decided to stick to their original plan. Ethan Ellsworth had his own verified social media account with over sixty million followers.
All he had to do was post the DNA report, and the media would publicize it far and wide.
But before posting it, he became apprehensive.
After thinking it over and over, Ethan Ellsworth decided he needed to get the child to safety first, to prevent Lillian Bancroft from using her to threaten Chloe Marshall.
But Lillian Bancroft’s bodyguards were posted at the kindergarten gate, so getting her out was impossible.
Therefore, getting Dorothy out would be extremely difficult.
No one knew if Dorothy would even come to class tomorrow.
But he felt that if they couldn’t get Dorothy out today, it would be just as difficult in the future.
Taking her by force was far too risky.
He thought it over from every angle.
Quentin Grant still felt that the most prudent course of action was to post it on social media first and then report it to the national authorities.
"Think about it," Quentin Grant advised. "If you try to take her by force and fail, she’ll surely have people hunt you down worldwide. And if you succeed, you won’t be able to let the child be seen in public. We believe this DNA report, but others might think you faked it. Even if she *does* let you run another test, who’s to say she won’t fake those results? Using the media will also make the people of Harrowin doubt the authenticity and likelihood of it all. The only solution is the method Nora mentioned earlier."
