Chapter 323: Chapter 320: I Only Have Eyes for You (4)

He strode away quickly. Mrs. Grant shouted in desperation, "Quentin! Please, just forgive Mom this once!"

But it wasn’t enough to make him turn back.

Jean Grant tried calling Nicholas Ainsworth, but her calls went unanswered.

She clung to the faint hope that he was probably just sleeping.

She called again and again, but still, no one picked up.

’He probably set his phone to silent or vibrate,’ Jean Grant thought.

She tried over and over, but she couldn’t get through.

Since Nicholas Ainsworth lived at the Ainsworth Family estate, showing up in the middle of the night would be inappropriate. Jean Grant decided to go to the Ainsworth Group Company in the morning instead.

Unable to sleep, she dressed to the nines the next morning and drove to the Ainsworth Group Company.

The moment she reached the front desk, someone recognized her.

"Hey, isn’t that the star of last night’s ’car sex scandal’?"

"Yeah, it is. Keep your voice down. Her family is incredibly rich and powerful. You don’t want to cross her."

"It’s not just me. She’s a celebrity now. Even if they scrubbed it from the internet, who hasn’t seen it?"

"That’s true."

Jean Grant shot the gossiping receptionists a vicious glare and asked, "Has your President Ainsworth come in to work yet?"

"He’s already here."

"What floor is his office on?"

The receptionist said apologetically, "President Ainsworth gave instructions when he arrived. If Miss Grant comes by, she is to be asked to leave."

Jean Grant’s heart sank. "What’s that supposed to mean?"

The receptionist gave a faint smile. "What else could it mean? It means if you show up, you’re to be sent away."

Furious, Jean Grant stormed toward the elevators.

"Hey, hey, hey! Miss Grant, you can’t go up."

The receptionist hurried to block her path.

Jean Grant shoved her hand away. "Have you grown a spine? I’m going up. What are you going to do about it?"

The receptionist resentfully let go. Seeing Jean get into the elevator, she quickly called upstairs.

Jean Grant got off on the floor and walked around in several circles before finally finding Nicholas Ainsworth’s office.

She successfully made her way into his office.

Seeing her, Nicholas Ainsworth was already mentally prepared.

Jean Grant sat down across from him. "Nicholas, why haven’t you been answering my calls?"

Nicholas Ainsworth’s expression turned cold. "And why were you entangled with another man while you were dating me?"

"He kept threatening me. It wasn’t consensual."

Nicholas Ainsworth was clearly displeased. "No one cares what you did before we were together. But being with someone else while we’re dating is infuriating."

Jean Grant grabbed his hands. "Nicholas, I had that bastard’s legs broken. I think he’ll be quiet for a while. I love being with you. These past few months, I’ve felt happy every single day."

"You were with Ethan Ellsworth before?" freewebnoveℓ.com

Jean Grant had no choice but to nod. "We were only together for a few days, and we never did anything. Ethan Ellsworth was in love with me for over ten years. We only broke up because his little assistant interfered."

Of course, she didn’t dare tell him the real reason they broke up.

"Was that while you were married?"

Jean Grant rushed to explain, tears welling in her eyes. "Don’t believe what that person posted online! Marlon Marshall posted all that. We divorced because he cheated on me with another woman when I was four months pregnant. He’s been harassing me these past few days, demanding money and wanting to get back together, but I absolutely refuse."

Nicholas Ainsworth sighed and walked over to her. "When I heard the news yesterday, I couldn’t keep calm. I want to have a serious relationship with you, so I hope this is the first and last time. I’m a man, and I can’t tolerate my woman being with someone else while we’re dating. If it happens again, there will be no coming back for us."

Jean Grant threw herself into his arms. "Mhm, Nicholas, there won’t be a next time."

Nicholas Ainsworth’s expression remained cold. At that moment, there was no pain in his eyes. Or perhaps, it was because he had always believed in the saying: a leopard can’t change its spots.

’I’ll have to observe her for a while to see if she’ll continue behaving like this.’

Because of this incident, he became more wary and started keeping a constant eye on her whereabouts.

’If a restless woman is always going to be restless, why should I be with her? Her family may be powerful, but it’s not like I’m short on money. It’s good if we can be together, but I don’t lose anything if we can’t.’

This was his mindset when he started dating her, and it remained so now.

It was this morning that Ethan Ellsworth found out Nora Ainsworth’s contract had been terminated.

He went to President Harding’s office in person, rather annoyed. "What’s the meaning of this? Weren’t you the one who insisted on having Nora come here in the first place? Now you’re kicking her out of the company. Isn’t that a bit shameless?"

President Harding stood up, sighing heavily. "Ellsworth, you can’t blame me for this. You know what kind of family the Grants are. The Grant Matriarch has put out a notice nationwide to completely blacklist Nora Ainsworth. What choice do I have?"

Upon hearing this, Ethan Ellsworth slammed the door on his way out.

He called Quentin Grant as he walked.

"Speak."

"Are you and Nora okay?"

Quentin Grant’s throat felt like it was coated in chili peppers, burning with pain. "The day before yesterday... we broke up."

Ethan Ellsworth could hardly believe it. "Young Master Grant, is it April Fools’ Day?"

"I never joke about things like this."

"But why?"

"It’s a long story. Let’s meet up tonight. I’ll tell you then."

Quentin Grant hung up the phone.

Immediately, Ethan Ellsworth called back.

"I wasn’t finished. Why were you in such a hurry to hang up? I was trying to tell you, Nora’s contract with our company was terminated. Now, no one knows where she is."

Quentin Grant sat up straight. "Terminated? When did this happen?"

"I thought you knew, that’s why I called to ask. It was the night before last, I think. I just went to see President Harding, and he said it was your mother who’s suppressing Nora Ainsworth nationwide."

Quentin Grant’s hand tightened into a fist. "Wait for me at Lip Tease at eight tonight with Young Master Hawthorne."

With that, he hung up.

He sat there in a daze for a moment. When he came to his senses, he immediately had someone check all airports for flights booked under Nora Ainsworth’s name.

The immense dissatisfaction and fury that had been building up inside Quentin Grant were about to erupt.

At noon, he returned to the Grant family home.

Seeing him return, Mrs. Grant was overjoyed.

"Quentin, you’re back?"

He watched her walk toward him and sidestepped, causing Mrs. Grant to stumble into empty air.

"Quentin, have you eaten? Lunch is about to be served."

"I didn’t come back to eat your food," he said, his tone chilling to the bone.

Catherine Callahan didn’t dare provoke him, afraid he might actually kill her right then and there.

’At least if I keep quiet now, the baby in my belly will be safe.’

Mr. Grant said to him, "Son, come have a couple of drinks with your dad."

Quentin Grant walked over and sat down beside Mr. Grant.
