Chapter 356: Chapter 356: Delivering the Gospel
In a quiet villa in Zao City, a circle of bigwigs from the Traditional Chinese Medicine field were seated.
"Thank you all for your trust in me, Cheng Yin. The establishment of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Association is also to protect everyone’s interests,"
"Otherwise, if we let just any Tom, Dick, or Harry participate in the auction, wouldn’t it undermine our status?"
Cheng Yin raised his glass and began to speak eloquently to the magnates of Zao City’s Traditional Chinese Medicine community.
Wang Hao’s guess was indeed correct. This newly emerged Traditional Chinese Medicine Association was an unfair measure Cheng Yin had taken to restrict his competitors.
And these so-called bigwigs of Zao City’s Traditional Chinese Medicine community were just pawns on his chessboard, ready to take a bullet for him when the time came.
Suddenly, someone approached Cheng Yin and whispered a few words in his ear.
Without saying anything, Cheng Yin immediately stood up and went upstairs.
"What? He failed?"
Cheng Yin was astonished to see the disheveled taxi driver.
This taxi driver was supposed to be disguised. He had been a member of the special combat forces, always ranking at the top in assessments, and this was his first failure on a mission.
"Wang Hao is really tough to deal with. It’s as if he has the divine power of being impervious to swords and guns, and his speed is like lightning—I’m simply no match for him," the driver said, shaking his head.
"No matter, the most important thing right now is the Traditional Medicine auction. I’ve already used the association to restrict his eligibility to participate. Once we take the crown at the auction, we can take our time dealing with him," Cheng Yin said nonchalantly, as if taking care of Wang Hao would be a simple task.
"Wang Hao also asked me to deliver a message to you," the driver hesitated before speaking.
"He said he was the one who injured the eldest young master. If you want to seek revenge, he welcomes you anytime!"
"Smack!"
Cheng Yin could no longer contain himself; he angrily slapped the table and glared furiously into the distance, but no one knew what was going through his mind.
On a sunny morning, a dazzling luxury car was relentlessly honking its horn outside Deshan Game Hall.
With just a glance at the luxury car, Wang Hao knew He Peng had arrived.
"Why don’t you come in and sit down for a cup of tea?" Wang Hao asked, puzzled.
Having spent some time with He Peng, Wang Hao thought he was quite easy to get along with, aside from his greed for money and love for beautiful women. Hence, the two had formed a pretty good relationship.
"I’m leaving. I’ve been out for a while, and it’s time to go back. I specifically came to say goodbye," He Peng shouted.
When Wang Hao heard that He Peng was departing, he hurriedly came outside.
"You’re leaving already?"
Though they hadn’t been acquainted for very long, the two had become comrades in adversity during the investigation of the Xiangtan University suicide case and the capture of Xing Hua. Wang Hao truly felt a bit reluctant to see him go.
"If I don’t leave, should I stay here and be your errand boy?" He Peng joked.
"That wouldn’t be such a bad idea. If I have a piece of meat to eat, I’ll make sure you have soup to drink," Wang Hao declared assertively.
"Damn, you expect me to drink soup while you eat meat? You’re too much of a scammer. Then I’d rather not hang out with you. I’ll go back to The Church where I can eat and drink to my heart’s content!" He Peng curled his lip, thinking that Wang Hao was quite stingy.
"The essence is in the soup; I’m leaving it for you because I care. What more could you want?"
Wang Hao feigned a hurt expression.
"You’d better keep this essence and enjoy it slowly by yourself. I won’t join you in drinking it!"
He Peng decisively refused.
"Fine, just be safe on your way home!" freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
Wang Hao stopped teasing him, patted the car door, and made way for He Peng.
"Okay, thanks a lot!"
He Peng replied with a smile, then glanced around. Seeing no one else, he deliberately lowered his voice and said to Wang Hao.
"Although I don’t know why you are immune to all poisons, you must be hiding some other secret. I can’t be bothered to ask; you wouldn’t tell me even if I did."
"But I still want to kindly remind you, there are many other extraordinary people in this world who are very interested in those with magical abilities. You’d better keep your secret safe and not let them find out."
Extraordinary people?
Wang Hao hadn’t heard about this before, but it wasn’t surprising. Such matters were likely common knowledge within organizations like The Church, and ordinary people would hardly be aware of them.
"Alright, I got it!"
Wang Hao nodded, though at the moment, keeping a low profile seemed a daunting task for him.
"I know I’m probably talking to the wind, but take care of yourself. I hope that the next time I come to Zao City, I’ll still find you alive, and not captured for dissection and research."
After saying this, He Peng took out a photo and a doll from the car and handed them to Wang Hao.
"This photo was found in a hidden room inside the hotel while I was investigating the composition of the white powder. It should be Shen Jiayi. When you get a chance, please return it to the Shen Family for me!"
After passing the photo and doll to Wang Hao, He Peng started the car and drove off into the distance.
"You little brat, how dare you curse me! I bet you’ll be the one caught for dissection. Next time I see you, you’re in for it!"
Wang Hao took the doll and the photo, kicking towards the direction He Peng had left in.
In truth, Wang Hao was not afraid, but he certainly took the situation seriously.
If these extraordinary people ever found out about Wang Hao’s possession of the Heart of the Dragon, even if they couldn’t have it for themselves, they would most likely hand Wang Hao over to the authorities.
If Wang Hao were caught by the state, it would be the end for him; he might indeed be taken for research.
Therefore, he should avoid using this energy on others, lest it draws unwanted attention and leads to his exposure.
This was something he could prevent as long as he remained vigilant.
Business matters now demanded Wang Hao’s urgent attention. Although his company had been successfully registered, he needed to expedite its development.
However, reaching a turnover of twenty million in less than a month was utterly impossible. Therefore, to become a member of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Association, he couldn’t rely on that path; he had to find a faster way.
Speaking of shortcuts, this made Wang Hao’s head ache anew. Although the newly-emerged Traditional Chinese Medicine Association surely had shortcuts, how could he find one? This remained a difficult problem.
With the peak season for Chinese herbs approaching, Wang Hao didn’t have much time left. If he failed to break into Zao City’s market now, it wouldn’t only be difficult to recover later, but this season’s mature herbs would rot in the fields.
Besides facing a huge loss, it would also dash the hopes of the villagers in his village.
Just when Wang Hao was at his wit’s end, Wen Yonglin brought him good news.
"Wang Hao, tonight a networking event for successful business figures is being held at the Peninsula International Hotel in Zao City. I’ve heard that many bigshots from the Chinese herbal medicine industry will be there too. Come over, and I’ll introduce you."
Wen Yonglin seemed quite relaxed as he spoke over the phone. In Zao City, anyone looking to establish connections would have to offer a bit of face to old man Wen.
"I don’t have an invitation. Is it appropriate to just show up uninvited?"
Wang Hao tentatively asked.
"What’s inappropriate about it? I’ll personally take you inside. I don’t believe anyone in Zao City wouldn’t give me that respect!"
Wen Yonglin spoke confidently; after all, in Zao City, he had the clout to make such a claim.
In fact, Wang Hao was just being polite with his question. He was intent on attending this event no matter what. Invitations didn’t concern him; what mattered was achieving his goal.
