Chapter 350: Chapter 350: Highway Robbery

"Zhou Yingying?"

Wang Hao heard the voice and couldn’t help but freeze for a moment. Zhou Yingying was a police officer in Mudwo Tan Town, so why would she suddenly appear here?

"How come you are here?" frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

The two asked almost simultaneously.

"You first!"

The two spoke at the same time again.

Students passing by all cast strange glances their way, but they were all amused by the tacit understanding displayed by the two.

Among them, many students recognized Wang Hao and saw him with Zhou Yingying looking quite close. They all felt it was unfair to the two school beauties in their hearts.

That Wang Hao really didn’t know how good he had it, to already possess two school beauties and still not be content, and now he’s brazenly hooking up with a police flower right at the school gate.

Some people just can’t be compared with others. Some die of drought, some die of flooding, and all these college students could do was quietly envy Wang Hao from the sidelines.

"I just solved that case involving the drug trafficking with the dolls, and I was the one in charge of the investigation in the town previously. Having performed a meritorious deed, I was transferred to the major case squad here in Zao City."

Zhou Yingying hurriedly explained, her face still beaming with a smile, trying to ease the awkwardness of just moments before.

"So that’s it!"

Wang Hao suddenly realized.

"Aren’t you curious about how the case was solved?"

Zhou Yingying muttered under her breath, because back when they were in the town, Wang Hao seemed very interested in the doll case, but now that the case was solved, he didn’t seem the least bit curious, acting as if it didn’t concern him at all.

"Right, how was the case finally solved?"

Wang Hao asked politely. In fact, Xing Hua had already confessed last time; it was him using the white powder to control others and then killing them.

"It was really strange, all of a sudden, one of the suspects we caught went crazy and then suddenly recovered. He claimed that it was all orchestrated by someone named Xing Hua."

Zhou Yingying herself found the case puzzlingly resolved.

"Then we followed the clues provided by this person and quickly identified a delicate individual named Xing Hua, but by the time we found Xing Hua, he was already dead in an abandoned factory."

Wang Hao, of course, knew all of this quite well, but hearing Zhou Yingying talk about it with such gusto, he couldn’t bear to interrupt her.

"That is indeed quite strange!"

Wang Hao laughed in agreement and asked.

"What brings you to the school, then?"

"I’m here to close the case!"

Zhou Yingying then leaned in close to Wang Hao and whispered in his ear.

"Let me tell you, this school is really strange. Before, people would jump off a building every now and then, but the higher-ups said the case has been closed, and now they’re asking me to find the principal and close the case."

Wang Hao laughed and said.

"Okay then, I won’t bother you while you’re working; I’ll be heading out first. Call me if you need anything!"

"Sure!"

Zhou Yingying hadn’t seen Wang Hao for a while and, to tell the truth, really didn’t want to see him leave just yet, but with official business at hand, she couldn’t stay with Wang Hao any longer.

Who knew that after walking a few steps, Wang Hao would turn his head back to Zhou Yingying and shout loudly.

"You can call me even if there’s nothing!"

After saying that, he gave Zhou Yingying a slight smile, looking rather tempting.

Zhou Yingying blushed, pursed her lips to suppress the joy in her heart, and watched Wang Hao leave before turning to enter the school to handle her business.

As soon as Wang Hao got into the taxi, he eagerly took out the thick book that Shen Qingshan had translated for him to read. Most of the beginning was an introduction, so it was easy to understand with the annotations.

In addition to recording some common Chinese herbs, there were also some herbs Wang Hao had never heard of before.

Take, for instance, the Dragon Bone Flower and Phoenix Tail Grass, which sound incredibly mystical. However, the annotations are even more fantastical than their names suggest.

The notes claim that the Dragon Bone Flower sprouts from the bones of a dead dragon, and Phoenix Tail Grass grows from the fallen feathers of a phoenix, which take root and sprout upon touching the ground, thus turning into an immortal herb.

Wang Hao’s face darkened at once as he wondered whether the content of the book was really "Shennong Herbal Medicine" or rather a book of "Myths and Tales."

He was highly skeptical.

But while he was lost in thought for a moment, Wang Hao noticed from the rearview mirror that the driver’s gaze would occasionally dart towards him, and his eyes seemed to be hinting at something not quite right.

When the driver realized that Wang Hao was watching him, he quickly averted his eyes, but this action made Wang Hao even more suspicious that the taxi driver was up to something.

Wanting to lower the driver’s guard and avoid giving away any flaws, Wang Hao decided to keep reading his book, but still, the corner of his eye occasionally glanced at the driver.

The driver continued to drive, casting glances at the rearview mirror from time to time, and Wang Hao noticed the driver was not looking at him but at his bag lying beside him.

Wang Hao looked over at his bag and realized that he had not zipped it up properly when he took out the book, and a corner of the beast skin was exposed.

Wang Hao couldn’t help but chuckle to himself; it turned out this driver was someone who knew a thing or two about valuable items, having taken a liking to the beast skin.

As expected, the driver didn’t take Wang Hao back to Deshan Game Hall, but instead headed in the opposite direction.

Wang Hao was curious to see what exactly the driver had in mind, so he kept his head down as if he hadn’t noticed anything unusual and continued to read his book.

The northern region of Xing Hua has many mountains and forests, many of which are quite steep and rarely visited by the general populace.

The taxi driver took Wang Hao to a remote and uninhabited woodland.

"Get out, quick!"

As soon as the car stopped, the driver pulled out a knife from his pocket and shouted at Wang Hao. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

Wang Hao cooperated fully, grabbing his backpack and preparing to get out of the car.

"Leave the bag!"

The driver yelled again.

"There’s just a few pieces of beast skin in this backpack, not worth much. How about I leave you my wallet instead?" Wang Hao said calmly.

"I don’t want your wallet, I only want that backpack!" the driver insisted vehemently.

"Why?"

Wang Hao asked tentatively.

"You think I’m a fool? The beast skin in your bag is worth a fortune. I wouldn’t have to worry about my next life, and even my descendants could enjoy endless wealth and glory!" the driver ranted while brandishing the knife to intimidate Wang Hao.

"Are you getting out or not?"

Wang Hao’s expression turned grim upon hearing this.

"Who exactly are you? How could you recognize the immense value of this beast skin at a glance?"

"That’s none of your business. Just get out now, or I’ll take your life right this instant!" the driver threatened, waving the knife in front of Wang Hao.

Wang Hao could tell that this driver wasn’t an ordinary person and was quite capable physically.

"What if I simply refuse to get out?" Wang Hao snorted coldly.

"Then don’t blame me for not being polite!"

Having said that, the driver lunged at Wang Hao, aiming the knife at the major artery in his throat...
