Chapter 107: Chapter 107: Searching for the Child
The director looked up in confusion, clutching his waist as he demanded.
"Are you crazy? It was obviously him causing trouble, trying to cut off our money, why hit me?"
"Why? I think you should go check if there’s something wrong with your brain."
Brother Wei patted the director’s head, gritting his teeth as he spoke.
"Do you know who my backer is?"
"Isn’t it Brother Qi? Kun’s right-hand man!"
The director replied, puzzled.
"Then do you know who he is?"
Brother Wei continued to question the director, pointing at Wang Hao.
"Him? Haha, just an ordinary peasant, right?"
The director glanced at Wang Hao again, noting his plain clothes and sunburned skin like a farmer’s, and scoffed with contempt. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ
"A peasant? Take a closer look!"
Brother Wei slapped the director’s face again as he spoke.
"He’s my boss’s boss, Brother Hao, even Kun has to respectfully call him Brother Hao, and you dared to hit him?"
Wang Hao had been puzzled by Brother Wei’s actions, but upon hearing this, he instantly understood that Brother Wei was under Brother Qi.
The director’s face turned ashen with fear, his hands trembling nonstop, his speech starting to stutter.
"Brother... Brother Hao!"
When the other youths heard that even Brother Kun had to respect him as Brother Hao, they knew his status wasn’t low, so they swarmed the director, pummeling him with punches and kicks.
The two kids who saw this danced with joy, and the other children also began to clap their hands.
Seeing the children’s reactions, Wang Hao thought about how much the director must have mistreated them, and decided he needed to teach him a lesson today.
Wang Hao called a few kids inside and distributed the snacks and fruits on the table to them. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
After they had finished, he also stopped the youths from beating the director, as it could potentially lead to a fatality if it continued.
"Brother Hao, this is the money the kids begged for, it’s all yours!"
Brother Wei ran over to Wang Hao, stuffing a few hundred in change into Wang Hao’s hands.
Wang Hao knew this money was begged for by the kids who had gone hungry and cold, so he grabbed a handful and flung it in Brother Wei’s face.
"If I ever find out any of you exploiting these kids to beg for money again, I will cripple him!"
Wang Hao pointed at Brother Wei’s nose and cursed, holding back the rage in his heart from turning to violence.
All the youths present hung their heads low, too frightened to make a sound.
"Get the hell out of here!"
Wang Hao bellowed, and the youths quickly scrambled away from the orphanage.
The director was beaten black and blue, and it took him a while to clumsily rise to his feet after Brother Wei and his group had left.
"Director, I see your room is quite nice; the kids will live here from now on."
Wang Hao looked around the room, noting that its size was equivalent to four of the kids’ rooms combined and it even had partitions.
"Ah? Where will I live then?"
The director asked, his swollen face mumbling.
Wang Hao smiled and gestured towards the children’s rooms.
"Any of those rooms, take your pick!"
"What? But... they’re dirty and messy, and humid too, with no lights, can anyone even live there?"
The director barely glanced at them before complaining disdainfully.
"Slap—"
"I don’t think you’re even human!"
Wang Hao stepped forward and slapped the director again, causing the already unsteady man to fall to the ground.
"I..."
The director looked up at Wang Hao with tearful eyes, a face full of grievance.
"You know it’s not fit for living, yet you still let those kids stay?"
Wang Hao lifted his leg and added another kick.
"Ouch, Brother Hao, I’ll stay, I’ll stay! Please stop hitting me!"
Though the director looked strong and sturdy, he couldn’t take a beating. Wang Hao hadn’t even exerted much force, and he was already crying out in pain like a child.
Even though the director verbally agreed, Wang Hao was still worried. He feared that once he left, the director would take all his anger out on the children.
But to take all these kids away without a place to settle them was a predicament for Wang Hao.
Just then, two people, a man and a woman who looked like a couple, walked in through the main gate.
The woman was slender and tall, her face was haggard as if she was ill.
The man was also quite thin, but appeared to be in better spirits than the woman.
However, judging by their attire, they seemed to be from a well-off family background.
As soon as they entered, they called for the director.
"You... why have you come again? I can’t help you with this. If he doesn’t want to go with you, what can I do? I certainly can’t tie him up and give him to you."
Seeing the couple, the director struggled to get up and said.
Upon seeing the director’s bruised face, the couple was taken aback.
"Director, what happened to you? Do you need our help?"
The man glanced at Wang Hao and frowned slightly.
When the couple arrived, a little boy standing next to Qi Shihan quickly pulled a little girl into the back room.
Both Wang Hao and Qi Shihan found it odd, and the couple exchanged a glance, shaking their heads and sighing.
The woman looked as though she was about to cry.
"Who are you? What are you doing here?"
Unable to hold back, Wang Hao stepped forward and asked.
"We are Xiao Wei’s parents. We want to take Xiao Wei home. We have come several times, but Xiao Wei refuses to leave with us!"
After the man spoke, his expression turned sad and he slowly bowed his head.
Upon hearing this, Wang Hao thought it was a good thing. After all, it’s better to return to the warmth of a family if one has one, but why didn’t Xiao Wei want to leave?
"Which child is Xiao Wei? Tell me, I’ll help persuade him."
Wang Hao said with a smile.
Initially, on seeing the director’s condition, the couple mistook Wang Hao for a bad person, but upon hearing that Wang Hao was going to comfort Xiao Wei, they relaxed their guard and smiled.
Before the man could answer, the woman already walked into the back room.
"Could it be that little boy?"
Qi Shihan seemed to have guessed it and followed Wang Hao into the back room.
Upon entering the room, they saw the little boy and girl huddled together, hand in hand, in the corner, while the woman simply squatted down and started crying without saying a word.
"Xiao Wei, mom and dad know they were wrong, we’re sorry for all the suffering you’ve been through. Come back with us; we will work hard to make it up to you. Can you forgive us?"
The man spoke, his voice choking up, clearly heartbroken.
"I’m not your son. Just leave, I won’t go with you."
Xiao Wei tightly held the little girl, resolute in his stance.
"Even if you tie me up, it will be useless. I will still run away. Even if you lock me up, it won’t hold me, I will go on hunger strike in protest!"
"This kid has quite a backbone! But I like it!"
After hearing Xiao Wei’s words, Wang Hao laughed from the sidelines.
Qi Shihan quickly turned and gave him a disapproving look, signaling him to be more mindful of what he was saying, as it wasn’t the time for jokes given the parents’ heartache.
"I was just admiring Xiao Wei’s spirit, I didn’t mean anything else."
Wang Hao smiled awkwardly at the couple, then approached the two children, intending to pull them out.
The little girl, startled by Wang Hao’s action, began to cry loudly and clung to the little boy as if afraid he would be taken from her.
Xiao Wei, holding the girl, glared furiously at Wang Hao with teary eyes.
"Just go! I don’t need you to teach me martial arts anymore, and I don’t like you either. You’re just like them, you’re a bad person!"
