Chapter 350: Chapter 55: I’m Friendly, Peaceful, and Happy to Communicate
"Below... there is a powerful... Flood Dragon."
Su Zhou, who had been about to initiate contact, was a little surprised to receive a proactive message from the creature. The Giant Whale’s message continued: "Very dangerous... do not... get close."
Along with the Giant Whale’s message, a brief image from its soul flickered in Su Zhou’s mind. It seemed to show a struggle between the Giant Whale and a Flood Dragon. The whale was massive, but it lacked the power to truly threaten the Flood Dragon. The Flood Dragon, on the other hand, was powerful, but much like Su Zhou, it was dwarfed by the whale. The sheer turbulence of the undercurrents created by the Giant Whale’s movements meant the Flood Dragon couldn’t stop it from leaving.
’So this Giant Whale is warning me about the Flood Dragon below?’
Su Zhou couldn’t help but laugh. He sent a message back, "Thanks, but I’m heading over there specifically to find it."
As he said this, he released his own Suppression, displaying a Spiritual Pressure similar to, yet greater than, the Flood Dragon’s.
"You’re... a Dragon... too?"
The Giant Whale was clearly surprised. Its massive body circled Su Zhou once, and the powerful undercurrents it generated formed what looked like an underwater tornado. The great white shark and the black Sea Serpent were instantly and uncontrollably sent spinning, not to mention the other Sea Beasts around Su Zhou. If the whale were any larger and swimming in a shallower sea, it could probably create a massive whirlpool.
But Su Zhou remained perfectly still. He even reached out a hand, using his pure Spiritual Power to quell the surrounding currents and allow his entourage (the Sea Beast edition) to regain control of their bodies.
At this, the Giant Whale was finally convinced that this seemingly small human truly possessed power comparable to, or even greater than, the Flood Dragon’s. Although whales look like fish, they are actually mammals; unlike other scaled creatures, they do not possess a natural ability to sense Dragon Serpents.
"I wish you success."
With a cheerful cry, the Giant Whale seemed to understand the group’s intentions. In any case, it clearly wasn’t good news for the Flood Dragon in the deep, so the whale sang out happily, "I’m leaving now."
Su Zhou waved it off. "You too. Have a safe journey."
Coming and going as it pleased, the Kunpeng-like Giant Whale stirred the deep-sea currents and departed from the exploration team, prompting everyone in the submersibles to breathe a collective sigh of relief. But its duet with Su Zhou, their clearly intelligent exchange, and the power it possessed to effortlessly create a massive underwater tornado had all been witnessed by the audience.
"That whale is clearly intelligent, isn’t it? It left right after Su Haihuang said something to it!"
"It’s just too powerful... If an underwater tornado like that appeared in the shallows, it could capsize smaller ships. And that was just from it swimming by!"
"If it used its full power, could it be like that ’Sea Demon King’ near the European Federation and Call the Wind and Summon the Rain?"
The Sea Demon King was a one-horned Giant Whale that had appeared near the European Federation during the period of the Spiritual Energy Revival and its accompanying strange weather phenomena, stirring up torrential rain. It seemed to have obtained some sort of legacy and already possessed the power of the Extraordinary Tier. It had caused massive losses throughout the Europe Region and was currently being hunted by a task force of Transcendents, which was why the European Union had not sent a team this time.
While this Giant Whale’s power didn’t seem to match the Sea Demon King’s, its size far surpassed it. Even the Sea Demon King was only just over thirty meters long; this Giant Whale was three times that length.
Clearly, they represented two different evolutionary paths, much like the division between Spiritual Martial Arts and Spirit Techniques among humans. This Giant Whale had obviously funneled all the energy for its sublimation into increasing its physical size.
A gigantic, intelligent Sea Beast—this immediately sparked a heated discussion across the internet. Many people marveled at how wondrous the world was becoming, but others were filled with anxiety.
"It’s one thing if a giant Sea Beast is relatively docile like this whale, but what are we supposed to do if there are other, malevolent ones that want to cause destruction?"
"My family’s in the maritime shipping business. Things seem fine for now, and the sea lanes are clear. But if the Spiritual Energy Revival keeps going, we’ll probably have to hire Transcendents as escorts."
"Don’t tell me we’re going to see hundred-meter-long sea monsters in the future, things even more over-the-top than a kaiju movie?!"
No one knew the answers to these questions. But Su Zhou had a feeling. ’As long as the Space-Time Passages in the oceans—the ones leading to the North Sea Secret Realm, the Celestial Pool Secret Realm, and countless other Ocean Secret Realms—open up and connect Earth directly to all those different oceanic worlds,’ he thought, ’then even kilometer-long Demon Kings and Demon Gods will be able to live here freely, let alone some dinky movie monsters.’
The descent to the seabed six thousand meters below was a long process, but punctuated by one interesting incident after another, the submersibles gradually approached the seafloor near the target area.
The many Sea Beasts accompanying Su Zhou gradually peeled away, unable to withstand the immense pressure of the deep sea. The last to remain were the black Sea Serpent and the great white shark. The two of them wanted to push themselves to follow Su Zhou, but after some coaxing from him, they obediently departed as well.
For the creatures of Earth, the deep sea was still a dangerous Forbidden Land.
The Dragon King’s Remains were located in a fissure within an undersea basin. It was a region with a thin crust and a dense cluster of hydrothermal vents. The submersibles had now descended to a depth of about 4,700 meters, and their searchlights illuminated a flat, grayish-black seabed.
"Switching modes. We’re proceeding."
