Chapter 7: Leveling Up

Mamadou’s senses had definitely become sharper.

Even though the goblin had managed to surprise him, the moment it approached, Mamadou sprang to his feet.

His heart skipped a beat.

Despite all his precautions, he had still ended up encountering an enemy.

Standing before him was a goblin, a grotesque creature armed with a club.

The goblin had greenish skin, a pronounced nose, and long ears.

At the sight of Mamadou, the goblin began drooling.

The goblin was speaking, but it was something Mamadou could not understand.

Was it a language unique to goblins?

Was it complete gibberish?

He had no idea.

All he knew was that this goblin probably had no good intentions toward him.

Unlike the first time, however, Mamadou decided not to back down.

He only needed to prevent his Life Points from dropping to zero.

If he could defeat a goblin head-on, it would greatly improve his confidence in his abilities.

Otherwise, he would flee.

I’ll kill it before running away.

The fewer of these things there are, the better I’ll sleep.

But the goblin was the first to act.

It charged toward Mamadou.

As Mamadou tried to dodge to the side, the goblin grabbed his tail.

He therefore had no time to reach for the axe strapped to his back.

"Damn it..."

The goblin slammed him into the ground and immediately stomped on him.

The axe came loose.

Since it had not been secured properly, it was sent flying elsewhere.

"Argh!"

Fortunately for Mamadou, the forest floor was not particularly hard.

Otherwise, he might have died instantly.

Even so, the goblin’s attack had definitely caused damage.

Mamadou clawed at the goblin’s foot, injuring its tendon and allowing himself to break free and create some distance between them.

He was shocked by the goblin’s capabilities.

He had not expected the difference in strength to be so great.

Despite possessing Pain Resistance, he had definitely felt that attack.

Before, he had mixed feelings about the skill.

Now he was extremely grateful for it.

Being able to ignore part of the pain allowed him to remain focused.

Although he was suffering, it was still within acceptable limits.

"Damn it... How did I lose forty Life Points in a single hit?"

Man, that really hurts.

The fact that I took so much damage is probably because my Resistance is only 5.

My Skill Points have dropped too.

The goblin did not stop there.

It advanced toward Mamadou and swung its club violently.

This time, Mamadou managed to dodge.

After all, his small size had become a kind of advantage.

He could not avoid the third strike.

Unlike ordinary monkeys, Mamadou still struggled to control his body.

In other words, he had a problem with agility.

Moreover, the goblin’s speed was slightly higher than his own.

The blow shattered his ribs and sent him rolling through the grass.

Ouch.

[Pain Resistance has leveled up.

Pain Resistance Level 2.]

I’m going to die if I take another hit like that.

Stupid goblin.

Did it really think beating me up would be enough to kill me?

Me, Mamadou?

Mamadou gritted his teeth and fixed his gaze on the goblin approaching him with its club in hand.

Just one moment.

That’s all I need.

The pain he had been feeling until now was reduced once again, allowing him to regain his composure.

He had no time to think about the conditions that had caused the skill to level up.

His body felt heavier.

He could feel his strength gradually fading away.

This was his last chance.

Fortunately, the goblin’s attacks were easy to predict.

They were simple and straightforward.

As long as he paid attention and did not get caught off guard by the goblin’s speed, he still had a way to win.

The goblin raised its club to strike down its prey, which pretended to remain motionless. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

I’m going to eat you, even if it’s the last thing I do, Mamadou growled inwardly.

The club smashed into the ground.

Using his agility, Mamadou shifted aside.

Since he already knew the direction of the attack, he only needed to move slightly ahead of time to compensate for his lack of speed. freewebnøvel.com

He immediately clawed the hand holding the club.

The goblin dropped its weapon.

The wound was deep enough to draw blood.

But Mamadou did not stop there.

He slid between the goblin’s legs, clawing them as he passed.

The goblin dropped to one knee, allowing Mamadou to climb onto its back.

"Taste mankind’s most primitive weapon, stupid monster."

Aside from tools, if there was one thing Mamadou was confident in, it was biting.

He bit into the goblin’s neck.

His fangs sank deep into its flesh.

Before the goblin could free itself, Mamadou wrapped his lower limbs around its body like a snake, locking its arms in place.

He tore into the goblin’s throat.

To leave it absolutely no chance of survival, he continuously clawed at its neck.

Goblin blood sprayed across his entire body.

The goblin’s body stopped moving.

Yet the rage filling Mamadou’s mind was so intense that he continued mutilating the corpse.

He clawed and bit it repeatedly even after it had fallen to the ground.

Only when he heard the System’s mechanical voice did he finally stop.

What?

Several skills Mamadou had not even known he possessed had just leveled up.

I was so distracted that I didn’t fully understand everything.

The pain he had been feeling disappeared.

His health had recovered.

His body felt lighter.

Suddenly, he sensed something approaching.

Without hesitation, he decided to leave immediately, even forgetting his makeshift axe.

He had survived by the narrowest of margins.

Trying his luck further would be incredibly foolish.

I’ll think about all this later.

First, let’s get out of here.

He was surprised by his speed and agility.

He had the feeling that even without proper technique, if he decided to move from tree to tree, he could now do so without much difficulty.
