Chapter 1788: The Duo’s Next Steps

"Thank you once again, Miss Mystia."

Standing by the entrance of the Meltierre Heavenly Court, both Valyr and Ataraxia bowed towards Mystia in gratitude just as Valyr said those words.

"Because of you, our chances of obtaining a high ranking in the upcoming tournament is basically guaranteed," the young man continued, causing an amused smile to appear on the latter’s face.

"Even without that, you two already have the strength to make your mark in the Nine Heavenly Pillars tournament," said Mystia with a slight chuckle. "But now, with the changes you’ve both gone through after killing those Rank 7 beings..."

"It’s more accurate to say that the two of you are pretty much guaranteed to take the spot no matter what."

Hearing those words, the two young men briefly looked at each other before looking back at Mystia with a calm smile.

Though they had downplayed the changes brought about by the titles they’ve obtained after killing their respective Rank 7 opponents, both Valyr and Ataraxia felt that Mystia’s words were quite close to the truth.

After all, with both of their main stats either nearing or surpassing the 10,000 mark, only those that had an incredibly solid foundation like they did would be able to pose a threat against them.

Then again, even those with incredibly solid foundations would still probably lose against them in the tournament, especially if one were to consider the fact that they still had a number of buffing skills they could use...

As well as the fact that they had yet to upgrade their levels to the peak of Rank 5.

’Now that I think about it, when are we gonna finally upgrade ourselves to the peak of Rank 5?’ As those thoughts lingered in his mind, Ataraxia gave his other self a brief glance before asking a question through [Soul Entanglement].

’A bit later,’ replied Valyr after giving it a bit of thought. ’Wouldn’t be the best idea to level ourselves up while we’re still at the Meltierre Heavenly Court.’

’You’re planning to head back to the Mystic Plane after this, right? I’d suggest we proceed with leveling up once you get there.’

The former faintly nodded at the arrangement, understanding that his other self would make sure that no one would be able to pry or disturb him while he and Ataraxia were leveling up.

Just as the two had finished their conversation regarding their next steps, Mystia looked at the two with grateful expressions as she opened her mouth once more.

"Once again, I would like to thank you both for letting me watch how to obtain such a powerful title," she said, having cast a barrier that prevented others from eavesdropping on them beforehand.

"With this information in our hands, our side has gained yet another tool we could use in the ongoing war."

"Enough talk about the war, though. There’s still about a week and a half before the Nine Heavenly Pillars tournament." Shifting the topic of their conversation, Mystia looked at the two with a slightly raised eyebrow. "What are the two of you planning to do next?"

"I’ll probably head back to the Mystic Plane," answered Ataraxia with a slight shrug. "Now that I’ve finally made headway into it, I plan on delving as deep into Mystic Runes as possible before the tournament begins."

"Oh?" Hearing those words, Mystia raised her eyebrow even further. "I’ve heard from both Marcus and Valyr that you’ve decided to focus your attention on Mystic Runes instead of alchemy."

The young man nodded in response. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm

"How much progress have you made?" she asked, her tone somewhat curious. "Also, were you planning to research Mystic Runes from the start? Or was it an idea that came up while you were learning alchemy from me?"

"I’ll answer the second question first, Miss Mystia." Remaining silent for a bit, Ataraxia eventually looked back at her with a slightly wry smile. "To be honest, I’ve already had the idea of exploring what it could do the moment I saw Teacher make use of the subclass back in the Mystic Plane."

"I see." Mystia faintly nodded in understanding. Though, if one looked closely at her, one would eventually be able to notice the slight disappointment in her eyes.

To her, Ataraxia seemed like a talent born to walk the path of alchemy. With how quick he picked up things while she was teaching him, she had a feeling that he could push Mystic Rune Alchemy to greater heights.

Though, just as she was about to persuade the young man to perhaps think about picking up alchemy again, Ataraxia went ahead and did something she didn’t expect him to do.

Whoosh!

Extending one of his hands out, the young man went ahead and conjured a Mystic Alchemical Rune in an instant, causing Mystia’s eyes to widen in surprise.

From what she knew, even someone well-versed in Mystic Rune Alchemy would take a couple of seconds to conjure a Mystic Alchemical Rune.

Even Valyr, who had already pushed his corresponding subclass to Legendary grade, would probably only be able to push that time down to around a second at most.

Yet, Ataraxia, who had way less experience than both her and Valyr, was able to conjure the same rune they did in a fraction of the time?

Swoosh!

Wondering if this was the young man’s way of showing her that he was best suited to pick up alchemy again, Mystia was soon left dumbfounded after she watched him dismantle the rune before her into simpler and simpler runes.

By the time the young man was done with his demonstration, only nine basic runes hovered in front of Mystia, with each one giving her a faint yet certain feeling.

"In terms of progress, I’ve now become able to dismantle the Mystic Alchemical Rune into its constituent parts," said Ataraxia after giving the latter some time to adjust. "Aside from that, I’ve also comprehended the meanings behind each one."

"Though it may not seem like much at the moment, the possibility contained within Mystic Runes have now expanded beyond the field of only being usable for alchemy."

At those words, the young man combined a few of the basic runes together, only to then infuse it with his Mystic Energy in order to form a crude yet complete Mystic Rune.

Sensing that the feeling the new Mystic Rune gave off was vastly different from the Mystic Alchemical Rune Ataraxia showed her moments earlier, Mystia went silent for a bit as the gears in her head began to turn.

Eventually, she let out a soft sigh before turning to look at Valyr.

"How about you?"

"What are your plans?"
