Chapter 33: Where Hope Goes To Die
Fate looked at Sam with a smile on his face and said, "Sam, it’s great to see that the Adventurers Guild has so little regard for human life. I’m sure it makes things easier for you."
Sam, shocked by this unique interpretation of the Adventurers Guild rules that others often call merciless, smiled and said to Fate, "Lord Fate, I’m so happy to hear you say that about our Guild. In the past, we were burdened with a massive amount of regulation and bureaucratic nonsense. But now our general motto is: Become An Adventurer At Your Own Risk. Don’t expect us to rescue you if you die on assignment. It also helps to cut down on the number of commoner students coming to Bloomspire Academy, which saves the school a fortune in money. But that’s just at Bloomspire Academy. Our merciless rules apply to every Adventurers Guild. So it may be lucrative to adventure and complete quests, but don’t complain to us if you end up dead."
Fate nodded in understanding. The game Blissful Paradise never went into too much detail when it came to the actual rules of joining the Adventurers Guild. It turns out there really are none. So you can only blame yourself if you take on too hard of a quest and end up dead.
As far as saving money for the school, this only applied to the commoners since they pay for a lot of their schooling by doing quests as students. Nobles did not need to worry about money. Fate loved this business model—how deliciously evil.
Sam took some of Fate’s blood and then Ruby’s. When she was done, Sam finally handed them their new guild IDs. Sam smiled and said to Fate, "Lord Fate, normally the Adventurers Guild could care less about what you do after you register with us. But because of your generous support of our local guild branch, I have been authorized to give you special treatment. So if any other adventurers give you trouble, please let me know and we will mercilessly deal with them. This is a perk only handed out to our richest of members, so please use this perk to your heart’s content."
Fate became dumbfounded by this offer. Is this the Adventurers Guild or the Assassins Guild? Fate looked around the room at all the other student adventurers and saw that they all wanted to kill him while cowering in terror from him looking at them. Fate could tell that these people are just a bunch of cowards waiting to stab him in the back.
So, to maintain his proper villainous role, Fate sneered then said to Sam, the beautiful receptionist, "Sam, have no worries. I’m sure that it won’t be long before you are able to clean some of this trash out of your guild with my help."
Sam, excited by this revelation, nodded to Fate, saying, "Lord Fate, I look forward to it. We will have plenty of pine boxes ready."
As Fate left the Adventurers Guild hall with Ruby, he could hear the students talking about him. "What a bastard. We should deal with him ourselves."
Another student said, "Shh, I’ve heard that Prince Nimrod has plans in motion to eliminate that trash. But if he fails, a few of us can do it ourselves."
Fate could not help but want to yell at them to try as hard as they can, because you can’t kill what can’t die. That’s the power of the immortal Phoenix flowing through his body. Just like Truck-kun’s idiot cousin Horse-kun will not be able to run him over in this new world—not anymore.
But what these dumb students did not expect as Fate and Ruby walked out of the guild is that tonight Ruby would be visiting them all for a harsh reality lesson in proper school etiquette.
Fate found a quiet corner of Bloomspire Academy and looked at Ruby. "Ruby, you want to turn that hospital and general education center that I ordered you to make out of Knight Commander Holms’ former home into an academy."
Ruby nodded her head, saying, "Yes, Fate. I think it would be good to have an academy for the poor and homeless, especially for the children who are orphans from all the constant wars and monster attacks. I’ve decided to call it Hope Ends Academy. Don’t worry, I’m able to pay for it thanks to generous donations that my subordinates received on your behalf."
Ruby did not say it specifically, but she meant robbery and murder—something that the Blood Maidens put any thieves to shame doing. Fate was happy to hear that there are people willing to help those less fortunate than themselves. freeωebnovēl.c૦m
"Well, if the academy is running on donations, that’s fine then. Go ahead and take whatever surrounding land you need as well. I don’t know why, but that damn band of thieves hit that entire part of the city, picking it clean. So now all of those buildings are sitting empty anyway."
Fate began to think about the things needed for this new academy. They will need a school motto, so Fate said to Ruby, "Ruby, the school motto for Hope Ends Academy can be: Welcome to Hope Ends Academy, where hope goes to die." freeweɓnovel.cøm
Fate felt this was perfectly in line with his villainous persona. It sounds depressing, but thinking of how the kids would get the best education money can buy, he felt better. Sensing Fate’s mood, Ruby smiled and said, "Fate, don’t worry. The children and adults that attend Hope Ends Academy will get the best indoctrination that money can buy."
Fate thought he heard Ruby wrong for a second, so he asked, "What was that you said, Ruby?"
Ruby quickly said to Fate, "Oh, nothing, Fate. Everything is fine."
Fate nodded his head and agreed with Ruby, keeping in line with his belief that ignorance is bliss. "Ok, Ruby, I will leave everything for you to handle."
After this little talk, Fate felt much better about leaving these matters in Ruby’s hands. She is such a capable woman on top of being drop-dead gorgeous.
Fate continued his tour of Bloomspire Academy as he went on to look for more ways to attract hate and troll people. Honestly, Fate was having the time of his life since he came here from Earth. Since he cannot die and can even raise the dead like he did with his horse Janus, that guy is currently having a lot of fun with his harem of horse mares.
Fate wondered if that damn horse is also gifted with any magical ability. He decided to check Janus the next time they go out for a ride. Fate was sure that he would be attacked again, taking another arrow to the knee. But this time, Fate has a little surprise in store for those supposed bandits.
