Chapter 24: The Burden He Bears

When Fate was done enjoying his new pool, he left his pool room, which was in the process of having a solid gold floor laid down.

Fate felt that it was important to spend some of his wealth that was piling up in his treasury now that he controlled the city.

All of the bribes that were going to the guards and officials were now going to him directly. Then, there was the fact that he did not need to bribe anyone himself since all of his enemies had disappeared.

This did not include the usual people like Bloomspire Academy or the prince.

But why would Fate bother giving them money? Ruby said earlier that in only a few days, his treasury was already unable to hold all of the gold coming into his city.

So now Fate was being forced to find creative ways to spend some of his wealth, a situation that Fate never had to deal with on Earth.

These were the burdens he must bear as the ridiculously rich villain that he was.

Fate looked around his castle for more opportunities to squander his money.

He remembered that in Blissful Paradise, they had golems that resembled real people but were made of extremely hard and precious metals. So he called upon Ruby once more.

Ruby quickly returned to Fate’s side, and then he said to her,

"Ruby, I’ve become aware of the fact that my treasury is becoming burdened with too much wealth. So, with this in mind, go ahead and purchase a few dozen female golem guards from the Dwarven nation of Ironside. We can make it a recurring order for them to fill every month. This should allow my overflowing treasury to be spent slightly, at least for a couple of days. Then, go ahead and purchase one of those defensive shields that the nation of merchants, Hildegard, uses to protect their cities and castles. This should spend about half of the money in my treasury, at least for a couple of days, until more bribes find their way into my pocket."

Ruby made a mental note of these requests. Then she did her usual radical interpretation of it. Ruby would kidnap a few Dwarves and convert/persuade them to reveal their golem-making techniques.

As for the merchants’ nation of Hildegard, she would use the same technique. For the Blood Maidens, infiltration and kidnapping missions were as easy as baking a pie.

Something that Ruby was in the process of learning how to do. It seemed her master had a sweet tooth, so Ruby planned to smother him with her newly developing baking talent.

As for Fate’s request to spend more of his overflowing wealth, she would spend it to equip the best legion of soldiers the world of Vale has ever had the misfortune to see.

If her forces could be defeated by anything other than obscene wealth, then how could Ruby ever possibly show her face in front of her master, Fate Grimsever, again?

With this in mind, Ruby left Fate’s side and went to the kitchen, where she began to learn how to bake pies. Ruby learned from the former head chef. It seemed this man wanted to assassinate her master using food, but the Blood Maidens caught on to his schemes and strung him up in the kitchen to torture him while he taught the new Blood Maiden servants stationed in the kitchen how to cook for their new master.

As Ruby began to learn how to make her pies, the unimportant head chef was begging for mercy.

"Please have mercy, I beg of you! I work for the Church of Divine Promises. They want your master dead. It’s been declared that he is an abomination. I’m one of their agents. If you kill me, you will offend the church."

Ruby sneered at the mention of The Church of Divine Promises. fгeewebnovёl.com

"Why would I care who your backer is? When my friend gets here to serve her new master at my side, she will deal with your damn church. Amara Sterling will love my master’s ten-foot pole, too. That girl and her legions of dark paladins will be a great addition to my Fire Legion as we take unilateral control of this world for my master."

When the unimportant head chef heard this, his eyes widened with fear. This woman knew the dark saintess, the former saint of his church. But she fell from grace and was replaced by a new, more compliant saintess.
