Chapter 16: Dripping Mature Temptation

Liam gazed at Victoria as she stood close by in her soft, comfortable home clothes.

The gentle glow of the villa’s warm lighting wrapped around her like a soft embrace, highlighting the elegant curves of her figure and making her look even more captivating than usual.

His heart pounded with a powerful mix of desire and deep tenderness emotions that felt almost overwhelming in their intensity.

He refused to let any formal barrier come between them.

In his mind, agreeing to any kind of family label would slam the door shut on any possibility of something real and romantic. That was something he simply could not accept.

"I don’t want to," Liam said, his voice firm and decisive.

Victoria’s eyes widened slightly. "What’s wrong? Do you think I’m not good enough for you?" she asked, a blend of surprise and subtle hurt coloring her tone.

"Or maybe you think I’m not pretty enough and would embarrass you if we went out together?"

She pressed a hand to her temple as a headache began to form. All she had wanted was to create some safe emotional distance, to gently discourage the romantic ideas swirling in his head.

She was thirty six yrs old, and he was only eighteen. In her mind, there was simply no path forward for them. Yet despite everything, she had grown to appreciate this young man more with each passing day.

Appreciation, however, was one thing romantic feelings were something else entirely.

"You are certainly beautiful," Liam replied seriously, meeting her gaze without hesitation. "But what I want is for you to hang out with me.

You said you’d think about this carefully, didn’t you? If we put any kind of family label between us, we could never do that.

We’d lose the chance to spend real time together."

His words, spoken with such sincerity, left Victoria both amused and deeply exasperated.

The situation had become incredibly complicated, and she found herself unable to turn him down outright.

Ever since Liam had first confessed his feelings, she had rejected him at every opportunity on the surface. But in the quiet days that followed, she had been quietly tormenting herself.

She kept reminding herself that this was impossible he was the same age as her daughter.

When she had invited him over for dinner tonight, her plan had been simple. to gently explain that she cared for him, but only in a motherly way. Nothing more.

Yet the conversation had taken on a serious tone. Liam listened intently, his eyes shining with honesty and quiet determination.

"Actually, it’s not that I don’t like you," Victoria said, her voice softening with genuine emotion. "On the contrary, I really do like you. That’s why I invited you here for dinner tonight."

She tried to guide the discussion back to safer ground. "However, this affection I feel... it’s the kind an elder has for the younger generation. Not... not the other kind."

A knowing, teasing smile curved Liam’s lips.

Why not give us a chance to simply hang out and spend time with each other? No pressure, just getting to know one another properly."

"Right now, maybe it feels okay for us to be close," she whispered, but what about five or ten years from now? I’ll be older, my appearance will change.

You’ll want someone younger. It would only end in heartbreak.

Liam’s eyes burned with unwavering determination. "What matters is the here and now the process of enjoying every single day together.

Please, give me a chance to spend time with you and take care of you the way you deserve."

Victoria realized she was losing ground in this argument. He was too clever, too persistent.

She wanted to reject him outright, but she couldn’t bring herself to hurt this sincere young man who had overcome so much. And deep down, a part of her didn’t want to push him away.

"I’m older than you," she reminded him, her voice laced with quiet frustration. "Old enough to be your mother. I’ve been divorced, and I have a daughter your age."

Liam refused to back down. "I already knew all of that. And thirty six is a beautiful age, Victoria. Those young girls don’t compare to you at all.

You’re so much more interesting, so much more desirable as a person your ego, the way you carry yourself."

She murmured softly, "You child..." but there was no real bite in her voice, only a gentle fondness.

She felt deeply torn. Liam continued pressing his case with gentle but firm persistence, refusing to accept any family label that would keep them apart.

He wanted them to hang out freely to go places together, share conversations, explore the city, or simply enjoy quiet evenings without artificial boundaries.

Every time she tried to redirect the conversation toward a safe, motherly role, he would offer that charming smile and steer it back to his simple, heartfelt request.

Just give him the chance to spend real time with her. No pretending, no forced distance. Just two people seeing where genuine connection might lead.

Victoria sighed, her resolve slowly weakening beneath the weight of his sincere persistence.

Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through her neck. She groaned softly, instinctively arching her back as the familiar ache flared up.

Liam’s eyes lit up with concern and opportunity. This was his chance.

"Victoria, does your neck hurt again?" he asked gently.

"Yeah... it’s an old problem," she admitted, rubbing the sore spot with a wince.

"I can help you," he said, his voice low and full of promise.

Yet even in that quiet moment, Liam’s determination remained. He wasn’t just offering relief he was showing her, through actions as much as words, how naturally they could fit together if she would only let him into her life.
