Chapter 74: Elyndor Academy [10]
Asher looked at the departing figures of Noah and Adam, then said, "I wish I could leave like that, but that stalker will probably follow me to my room if I ignore her right now, and that will really affect my plan to sleep in the afternoon."
Aria listened quietly, then said, "Yeah, she will."
Just then, Roselia reached their table and took a seat in front of them.
Aria looked at her and asked in an indifferent tone, "Why are you here?"
At Aria’s question, Roselia made an expression as if she were hurt by it and said, "I just came to meet you and Asher since we didn’t have enough time in the morning due to class. Why do you always have to act cold towards me?"
Then she turned towards Asher and said, "I was really surprised to see you refine mana so easily. I wonder how you did that. Could you please tell me the method you used to gain such strong focus and willpower?"
Asher looked at her with an expressionless face and said, "I just have a strong will, and with enough training, you can easily achieve the concentration required to control mana like me."
As for the reason behind this strong will, it was the time he had spent in that death-like state while constantly fighting against that environment that was slowly erasing his will to live. But there was no way he would tell that to her or anyone else.
After hearing Asher’s answer, Roselia looked at him and said in a disappointed tone, "That reason does not really explain much."
Asher just stood up and replied, "That is what it is. I don’t care if it explains it or not."
Roselia looked at Asher and said, "I see. If what you are saying is true, then I guess I should just increase my training time to become just like you."
Asher simply replied in a calm tone, "That is your choice. And if you don’t have any more questions, then I am going. I have many important things to do."
Aria looked at him and said, "Like taking a nap?"
Asher nodded.
"Yeah."
Roselia looked at Asher and said, "I see. I am sorry for wasting your time then."
After hearing Roselia’s reply, Asher simply vanished from his position.
Roselia looked at the spot where Asher had been standing and said, "He is really a unique person."
Then she turned to Aria and said, "Don’t you think so too?"
Aria just nodded and then said, "I also have some things to do."
After saying this, Aria did not even glance at Roselia and walked straight out of the cafeteria.
Roselia was left sitting alone in the cafeteria with a calm expression. Then she stood up and walked out of the cafeteria as well.
Aria’s POV
While going towards her room, Aria thought about Roselia and said in a low voice that only she could hear,
"How can a person even maintain a smile and calm expression while feeling jealous and angry inside?
No matter how many times I meet her, she is always the same—feeling proud of her talent, yet also jealous of the things she cannot possess but others have.
It always reminds me that no matter what a person shows on the outside, you can never imagine what that person really thinks about you."
People might think that being able to see the emotions of others is a blessing.
And they are not wrong. But it is also a curse.
A curse that allows you to see the truth of humans and how vile and evil their desires and emotions can really be.
Humans say that emotions and desires are what make them human.
Maybe they are right.
But if that is true, then greed, jealousy, hatred, and selfishness are also a part of what makes them human.
No matter how kind a person appears on the outside, there is always a side of them that they never show to others.
And sometimes, that hidden side is far uglier than anyone can imagine.
Then she thought, "I still can’t really understand why these negative emotions are even present in humans."
She kept thinking about it. If they only made people suffer, then why did they exist at all? Why would humans evolve to feel sadness, fear, jealousy, or anger? The more she thought about it, the less sense it made. There had to be a reason for them to exist, but she just couldn’t see it yet. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
While Aria was having these thoughts,
Roselia was going outside the Aetherium Academy accommodation towards her own room.
While going towards her room, she met many students, and every one of them looked at her with respect and greeted her with joyful expressions, just like always.
After reaching and entering her room, the smile on Roselia’s face disappeared.
She then muttered in a low yet angry tone, "That bitch still acts like everyone is just an insect in front of her. Why? Just because she is more beautiful and was born into a better family than anyone else?"
Roselia then looked at the full-body mirror present in her room and looked at her own reflection. She smiled and said, "What if she is more beautiful than me? I am still more talented than her and also more powerful."
Roselia’s mood always became better whenever she thought of this, but then she remembered Asher, the boy who had easily defeated her in the thing she was most talented at while acting as if that was the most natural thing.
And then there was his behavior towards her in the cafeteria. Just how dare he
Roselia clenched her fists as the memory resurfaced in her mind.
She had always been the one people admired, respected, and tried to get close to. No matter where she went, others would pay attention to her. Yet Asher was different. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
Not only did he not seem impressed by her, but he also treated her as if she was no different from anyone else.
The more she thought about it, the more irritated she became.
