Chapter 2910: 2910. Short But Worth it
The wind mana within the wind elemental plane felt denser than the last time they had moved through it. This was a perfect sign that Walker had brought them through one of the bridges to the elemental plane that was deeper within the wind elemental plane.
It also meant that there would be more powerful wind affinity beings and monsters within. That wasn’t an issue though.
"I need to see if we can find anything interesting to bring back. I learned that some scales and shed skin from monsters can be used to make some crafting potions. Apparently the silver string fish scales actually get used to help dry out the wooden parts of connecting joints." Remey has a wealth of crafting related potion knowledge now.
Neither Su nor Walker wanted to say anything against this. They were very impressed with her growth as a knowledgeable alchemist, she deserved to show off this side of her skills. It was why she had gained a lot more respect from the common people rather than just the guards and stronger fighters within Genesis.
It was also why Walker had been keeping an eye out for different herbs and materials than he normally would. He knew all too well that the more he kept a focus on these things the more he could provide the right materials.
"I just have no idea if there are monsters we can harvest some parts from here like that." As Remey said this, Su and Walker also understood it.
"We can’t say we have all the documentation of research for the elemental planes. We need more time to map and explore. It has all barely started." The long sigh from Su reminded Walker of the mapping projects happening.
"We have a lot more than we used to have. It’s not all perfectly accurate since the elemental planes are always shifting but it’s something. The emissaries and the handful of merchants able to travel through the wind elemental plane gathered some mapping information of the outer wind elemental planes. They even have a few small villages mapped already."
The explorations that Walker had heard about succeeding were enough to truly move well ahead of what used to be possible in terms of travel for the elemental planes. He knew all too well that they had made some risky choices in trades and agreements. All for the benefit of Genesis since this was a major unknown.
Yet, everything had been working out well since there were many who were working together with the true wind sage and their underlings. The races that were meeting the Genesis ambassadors were all properly prepared and kept from making dangerous moves.
The true wind sage and those sent by them knew extremely well that they needed to ensure safety for the Genesis people. Not simply because they needed to do so for the benefit of the wind elemental plane, but for the future development of everyone and everything.
"Do we just go looking for what you need? Do we follow that sharp wind mana I can feel hitting us now?" Remey had calmed herself and let the mana flow around her without resisting it as much. She was strong enough to push away any opposing manas that would harm her, but she understood that withdrawing her resistance and strength slightly was helpful.
Whether she had learned this intentionally or not, it was actually a very good skill that could be used by the majority of people regardless of race or class.
This was a technique that anyone could use to judge the area around them. Many crafters would have this skill unintentionally since they would be around dangerous materials that might radiate certain manas.
By keeping themselves in a slightly more weak state, they could allow the more sensitive parts of their skin to feel the outside changes. For blacksmiths this was heat or temperature, but for people like Remey who had bonded her soul and body using fire mana, she could let the wind mana interact slightly allowing her to feel drastic distant changes in mana as a whole.
It was coincidentally why she also knew what Walker and Su felt like when approaching the area that she was in. a beneficial weakness so to speak.
"That’s a school of sky tuna moving by. We could catch a few, they are very rare in the world but they have very fluffy and soft meat. Here they might be more common than most monsters." Walker threw out the idea as his hands were already moving to make a false wind current and trap several.
Su nodded since she would like to bring back some of the rare meat and share it with everyone. But this was not the focus of their goals, it was to find a small electoral panel and bring back. They had to leave the wind elemental alone.
"How about you venture toward a few struggles and help us?" The small shake was nothing more than a butterfly perfectly hiding within the wind mana moving around. If Walker looked at it carefully, he found it was barely visible.
’Hidden breeze butterfly
This is a race within the elemental planes that lives exceptionally short and fast paced lives. They used to be a monster species a year ago known for their fast growth rate and process of changing form while growing. However, their short lifespan allowed them to develop intelligence and become important to the entirety of the wind elemental planes.
This is due to their innate skill attached to their bloodline called slip stream travel. They can move through the hidden wind currents and completely hide from predators. This also allows them to travel vast distances nearly instantly which made many believe they had spatial mana affinity...’
"And why do you ask this of us?" Walker and the other two didn’t pay much mind to the sudden arrival of this little butterfly they could barely keep in their sight. They knew very well that there was a chance that it had been sent by the true wind sage as soon as they had appeared here.
As if it was aging before their eyes, the three saw a few powdery scales slipping off of the butterflies wings. It seemed its speedy lifespan was much shorter than what Walker had expected.
"You help with trouble, so I brought it to you. There are weird things growing in a weird place we don’t know. The wind king said if you came we could have your help." Now they all were a little more shocked. Simply because it was the wind king that had pushed this toward them directly.
The literal will of the wind elemental alone had asked for them to help this short lived race that was most likely going to keep advancing at a rapid pace as long as they were not harmed as a whole. Not that this would be easily done with their unique innate skills.
"Then point us ahead-" Walker didn’t hesitate until he realized that the little butterfly had fallen and begun to dissolve in to wind mana. The only remnant was a slight wisp of wind mana pointing in a certain direction.
"They are a race that lives for only a couple of days. But they came to be and developed so quickly that in a year they went from monster to fully recognized race with connections to the literal will of the wind elemental plane."
It was a fair thing to be stunned by. The development of a species in to a race should take a lot more. While Onyx had achieved such things for himself and his people because they had worked hard to awaken the hundreds, and even thousands of dormant eggs found, it was a grueling process that required the help of many other races.
These butterflies had done so because of their short and speedy lifespans. They had no choice but to develop or cease to be. It was astonishing beyond shocking or amazing.
"That just means we need to kick butt faster and help them with whatever they need." Another cracking of her knuckles and Remey was ready to push on. She was not going to risk losing the chance to make a difference here.
"She is going to get us right in to a fight." Su knew this would be the case and didn’t even try to hold Remey back. She was used to it.
Yet, neither were prepared when Walker conjured up a larger gust of wind mana to push them along. It appeared that the grin on his face was more than just him being interested in what was going on. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
This was how the two girls realized that Walker was doing more than just going with the flow and being a hero for everyone. He was searching for amazing aspects of existence to be part of, and if that meant a fight or a challenge, then he would be there too.
