Chapter 381: Chapter 213: Su Liyan Was Hung on the Roof Beam
Lowered from the rafters, Su Liyan let out a soft "Oof!" and fell right into Lu Yuan’s arms. Something soft pressed against his chest.
Lu Yuan chuckled slyly and slapped his wife’s rear. "Darling," he said, "at a time like this, I’m a Wise One. Don’t even think about trying to tempt me."
Hearing this, Su Liyan bit down hard on Lu Yuan’s shoulder.
"Ow!" Lu Yuan cried out, but he still kept a steady arm around Su Liyan.
When Su Liyan let go, she left two neat rows of teeth marks on his shoulder.
Su Liyan pushed him away with a playful laugh. "And you still talk to me like that after you’ve finished your business? Hmph! Are you still going to bully me?"
Lu Yuan picked up Su Liyan’s clothes and draped them over her. "Darling, I wouldn’t dare," he said. "I’ll cherish you every single moment."
Su Liyan pouted. "Now that’s more like it."
After Lu Yuan and Su Liyan finished getting dressed, they straightened their clothes to make themselves look less disheveled.
Lu Yuan opened the door, looked out into the courtyard, and saw Xiaotian in the pond. He quickly ran over and scooped him out.
Lu Yuan had completely forgotten about Xiaotian. He had originally intended to just scare him a little, to teach him to watch his mouth and not speak carelessly.
Who would have thought that in a moment of impulse, Lu Yuan had actually withdrawn his Inner Strength and thrown Xiaotian right into the pond for real.
Xiaotian looked incredibly wronged, as if he were about to burst into tears. He just kept whimpering pitifully.
Lu Yuan used his Inner Strength to steam-dry Xiaotian’s fur, then scratched his head apologetically. "I’m so sorry," he said. "I completely forgot about you."
Xiaotian gave Lu Yuan a resentful glare but didn’t say a word. It looked like he had learned his lesson.
Xiaotian thought to himself, ’A great and mighty... Ugh, forget it. I accept my fate.’
Su Liyan picked Xiaotian up, stroked his head, and said, "Come on, let’s get Xiaotian something nice to eat to make him feel better."
Later, in an empty space inside a guest room, Lu Yuan specially built an exquisite little wooden house for Xiaotian.
The little wooden house was fully furnished with a table, chair, bed, and more. There was even a small radio, which Lu Yuan taught Xiaotian how to use.
The little wooden house looked exactly like a proportionally-scaled down wooden home. A small sign hung on the door with three words written on it: "Top Dog House."
Seeing the wide variety of cooked meats Su Liyan had prepared for him, and seeing the little wooden house Lu Yuan had built with his own hands, Xiaotian decided to forgive Lu Yuan for throwing him into the pond and leaving him to soak for so long earlier that day.
Xiaotian lay on his very own little heated brick bed, kicking up his hind legs as he chewed on the cooked meat. "Big Bro, Pretty Lady, you two can go back now. I won’t complain about a thing."
On the way back to their room, Lu Yuan and Su Liyan were talking. "Darling, are we being a little too nice to him?"
Su Liyan replied, "It’s fine, I think. We can’t just keep him in our room, after all. Even though we’re the only ones who know Xiaotian can talk, there’s no guarantee he won’t let it slip in the future."
"That’s true. I’ve always felt that Xiaotian isn’t just an ordinary animal, or even a Demon Beast," Lu Yuan said.
"Mm-hmm, maybe," Su Liyan replied after a moment of thought. "As long as Xiaotian doesn’t have any malicious intent and wants to stay with us, we can let him for now."
Back in the room, Lu Yuan hung his outer coat on the rack, stretched, and said slowly, "What a busy day. Refining Elixirs this morning, and the Elixirs..."
Lu Yuan stared at the empty tabletop, then bent down to look under the table. ’No one should have come into this room,’ he thought.
Utterly confused, Lu Yuan asked, "Where are my Elixirs?"
Su Liyan was spreading a new sheet on the bed. While smoothing it out, she said, "While you were building that little wooden house for Xiaotian, I saw the Elixirs on the table. I found a wooden box and put them inside. See? They’re right there on the nightstand."
Lu Yuan walked over to the nightstand, picked up the wooden box, and opened it to count. There were seven Elixirs in total. He sighed in relief. "Thank goodness. I thought they were lost. It would’ve been a huge pain to refine them all over again."
Su Liyan stood up and shook Lu Yuan’s arm. "You really think someone could have just walked in and taken them from this room?"
Lu Yuan gently tapped Su Liyan’s pert nose. "Of course, I’m well aware of my darling’s capabilities," he said dotingly.
Delighted, Su Liyan leaned in and gave him a quick kiss. "Mwah~"
"It’s getting late. Let’s go to bed."
"Mm-hmm, okay!"
